From the tips, Kings Creek can play particularly tough because of the prevailing winds off the shores of Cedar Creek Lake. However, on calm days this course can be had, since the layout is fairly basic and features water on only six holes. In the late 1980s, the course became known for its improving condition, and that reputation has held true over the years.

The front nine is shorter and a little easier than the front, its toughest hole being the 200 -yard No. 3 over water. No. 14 typifies the longer back: a 576-yard marathon with water on either side of the fairway.

Getting there : From Dallas, take I-175 south, then turn right on Hwy. 274. The course is 2 miles down the road.

Best hole is always the 19th!!

this course has gone through alot. Mangament changes and severe drought are the two most important though. It's always been a great atmosphere inside the club house, but outside on the course, it's in rough shape. They do there best to maintain it but with the lack of rain, it really comes through. All and all I love the course and will continue to play it. Not much of a discount through golfnow.com versus regular rates. It's not in horrible condition, but what's needed on the course, has nothing to do with a lack of effort. They try real hard.

The front nine was decent, but the back nine was horrible. The fairways need lots of care.

Played this course because of an awesome special through golfnow. The course is wide open with plenty of water hazards. Overall, the course played the way the amount of the green fee that we paid. Great price.

The course was enjoyable to play.

I did not know what to expect since I had not played this course in over 10 years. My understanding is that the dry weather caused problems in the prior few years. Right now, however, it is an enjoyable course to play.

Fairways are defined, rough is long, and ball settles in which, in most cases, doesn't allow for a lot of advancement down the fairway when you get into it. I enjoy the fact that you must try to avoid the rough, and keep it in the fairway. Penalty is distance when in the rough.

Green recently punched, however, everything already coming together.

Very rude staff, questionable pricing, and course needs attention

My wife and I have been going to King's Creek for many years. We moved from the lake area to Plano about 8 years ago but we still continued to drive out there to play golf at least once a month. We began using golfnow.com to book our tee times quite some time ago. My complaint is that I was booked at golfnow.com for one amount and when I arrived, the lady at the front desk charged me quite a bit more. I explained that we booked through golfnow and it should be cheaper and she said no. She seemed quite rude and pre-occupied and did not want to hear it. Okay fine, my wife and I paid the full amount, got a large bucket of range balls, and a few drinks and headed out to play so that we did not cause a scene for the tournament players that were in the clubhouse. Once we finished, I went in upon returning our cart and got 2 drinks. The same lady said it was one amount, then said she would have to go ring it up in the bar. So I gave her a twenty and when she returned she said, oh, it was a even more. Something seems wrong about this scenerio. I for one, am very unhappy with the way things are done there now. Even the grass is freshly mowed but the dead clippings are so ridiculous, I wonder if they mow or hope the clippings kill it. Hard to find a ball when the clippings are 4 inches thick. If this is the kind of customer service we can expect, we will save ourselves the time, effort, and money to drive an hour to your course and take our pleasure somewhere else where it is truly appreciated. I would recommend the same to other players.

Charming course

Although not long, Kings Creek is a challenging and fun course. Plenty of trees and water to account for and when the wind is blowing you really have be aware...it can be a 2-3 club wind at times. This course is a great value for the money and will give any level golfer plenty of challenges.

Stay in the clubhouse.

I was ready for a relaxing day of country golf. Walk up to clubhouse. Had to chuckle with the Allagotor on course warning. Small Pro Shop but nice and homey Bar facility. Also had an array of video games. Im thinking, this is MY place. However, once on the course, not great. Could not tell where fairway ended and rough began, not much better on the greens. Impossible to make any putt over three feet....

Fun Course, needs some green maintenance

This course isn't very long, but there is a lot of water, making it challenging. RIght now (5-6-13), the once good greens are very sandy. Hopefully, they will come around. But right now, it is a pain to putt on them. This is a good course to drink some brews and play with your friends. If you plan on playing a serious game, the greens are going to give you a hard time. It is a fun course to play, though.

This course has a lot of water

Enjoyed playing this course. It is challenging at times, especially for a new player. It was not crowded, walked right on and did not feel rushed most of the time. Everyone was friendly. Will most definitely go back.

KINGS CREEK GOLF COURSE

Nice and firendly staff. I play here twice a week on average and use the range also. The course has a nice layout but due to drought conditions in the area it needs a little attention. The greens are kept in an Okay condition but the fairways need some tending. Overall I play this course cause its close to home and the staff are really nice.

Course needs alot of attention...

I used to be a member at this course when I first started playing golf. They have gone through different owners and I guess they have let it go down quite a bit. I'm glad I got the deal of 9.99 per person because I would have been upset it I had paid more.
