About
From the tips, Kings Creek can play particularly tough because of the prevailing winds off the shores of Cedar Creek Lake. However, on calm days this course can be had, since the layout is fairly basic and features water on only six holes. In the late 1980s, the course became known for its improving condition, and that reputation has held true over the years.
The front nine is shorter and a little easier than the front, its toughest hole being the 200 -yard No. 3 over water. No. 14 typifies the longer back: a 576-yard marathon with water on either side of the fairway.
Getting there : From Dallas, take I-175 south, then turn right on Hwy. 274. The course is 2 miles down the road.

First time this year
My review reflects THIS particular visit. It was played less than two weeks after sub freezing temps and snow melt plus several inches of rain. It WAS dry enough to play, and they had obviously aerated the tee boxes and fairways.
It wasn’t in the best shape BUT I have played it in the past and it usually is!
It is generally in much better shape. We will continue to play here throughout the year.

We're Closed It's Cold
Myself and two friends drove from Dallas to Kemp, TX to play this course. We arrived at 7:00 AM and the course was closed. No one to be found. We looked and attempted to see if we could locate someone. We called and when we looked at the door tot he pro shop thee was a sing that said We are Closed, It's Cold. We drove back to Dallas and played a local course in Garland that was a much better course. With all of the modern day technology they could have told GolfNow something or added the information to a recording. Unacceptable was to run a business.

Good
Good course, nothing spectacular but was good for the $20 deal time and I’d definitely come back for that price again but not sure if I’d pay more than that. It was a fun course with water all over the course so it was a test for accuracy for sure.
Improvements made
Up until the last time i played this course, it had been in a slow decline.
I read a couple of reviews that indicated it had gotten better.
I'm happy to report improvements have been made and it is in much better shape.
Fairways are neat and trimmed and the greens are in almost excellent shape.
As always the people working there a very friendly!
Very pleased that they are working hard to bring the course back.

Accuracy challenge
This was my first time at the course. They are very upfront that they are trying to get the course in better shape, and I wish them very well in this endeavor. The course design has challenges on nearly every hole, water in particular. And the fairways are narrow, so accuracy counts a lot. It was really windy when I was there, so that added some more difficulty to assessing the course. But I would love to go back on a nicer day. The food is awesome and the service super friendly.

Fun course to play
Play 2019 then again in 2020 lots of improvements greens still need a little work. Overall fun coarse to play.
Don't Overpay To Play
If you can "steal a rate" online through any of the known golf apps, then by all means, give it a try. I was lucky to find a $14 online rate & wanted to give the course another shot. Unfortunately, I was left with the same impression from previous experiences. The greens were pretty rough & riddled with weeds & crab grass (as compared to the rest of the course).. All of that said,, I definitely got my money's worth, but would not recommend spending over $20, especially if you are used to better overall playing surfaces.
