Lighthouse Country Club
About
Located in the town of Kingsland on the shores of Lake LBJ, Lighthouse Country Club features 18 holes set in a charming, hill country in the heart of the Highland Lakes. The course was originally built in 1968, winds through scenic Hill Country property full of oak trees and red granite rock outcroppings. From many points, Packsaddle Mountain, one of the Hill Country's highest points, is in view from many spots on the course.
Lighthouse was formerly named Packsaddle Golf Club until the name changed in the fall of 2011 when new owners Rick & Mercy Howe purchased the bankrupt property and revitalized the golf course. Part of the enhancement was the construction of a brand new lighthouse at the clubhouse. In addition on on-course enhancements, Lighthouse constructed a handful of two-bedroom condos for stay-and-play packages and longer term winter homes.
In addition to the golf course, the facility also features a driving range, short game area and a full restaurant, bar and banquet facility.

best greeens in Central Texas
This course is a gem. What a value. The greens were incredible. Fast, true, interesting, small, large, sloped, flat, you name it, they have it. This course is set up among rolling hills with lots of water, trees, hazards and blind shots. I cannot say enough about it. It is a course you want to play again since the first time is difficult. Many tees had blind shots with greens tucked in very strange places. Go play this course, you will enjoy it. Don't expect to play your index though the first time around.
This course has outstanding greens.
The course has some of the best greens around. I like the front nine better than the back. Only drawback from the tips it is still a short course.
Great Course for the amount of money on Golf Now
Course was in excellent shape. Greens were fast and challenging. Recommend this course to all players.
Very challenging course, well maintained.
The course is beautiful, the holes challenging. The fairways and the greens were in excellent shape. Well worth the drive. Everyone was very friendly, from the time we signed in to having a drink after the game.
Greens are very well maintained
Excellent course for the price. Over 25 days of 100 degree weather and the greens are very well maintained. Have played course all summer and each time I have played it in 3 1/2 hours.
Lighthouse is really shining under the new owner/management team. Best course in Central Texas for the money.
I've played this course a number of times over the years and it is in the BEST condition I've ever seen it - and in a prolonged drought period for central Texas to boot. Outshines other courses I have been playing by far.
like it a lot
I like how there is very few par 3s I love par 4s & 5s because driving is my thing
Lighthouse is LIGHTS OUT!
Course is in excellent shape; greens were smooth and not too fast. There's a 500-yard difference between the blues and the whites, so to most fellow hackers with double digit handicaps, it'd be smart to stay with the whites. That's what we did, as well as most others we encountered. Views from course worth the trip.
pretty good course
Greens were in excellent shape considering the Texas heat in August. Fairways were in good shape also.
For the money, the course is a very good value. I would definently recommend it.
If I had one suggestion, it would be that hey have more water coolers on the course since there is not cart service on the course.
Pretty minor.
Course was in very good shape. No cart girl the whole round??
The fairways were in great shape, the greens were very fast. I am guessing they tried and succeeded to find the toughest placement for the pins. The greens rolled true, you just had to hit the line or your second putt could very easily be longer then your first. Pushing 100 degrees it would have been good to have a cart out on the course. Overall, great experience.
Beautiful!!
The greens were some of the best I've played on in a very long time. I played this course several years ago, and it left a lot to be desired. Not so today: fairways, greens, bunkers, and overall facility were in great shape compared to the past. Keep up the good work and desire to improve overall!! I will be back!
REALLY Great Course
My buddies and I have been trying out as many new courses as we can lately. The courses on LBJ really do offer some great golf at a much more affordable price than the courses near by in Austin. We payed $20 to play on a sunday morning (hot deal). the pace of play was great for a cool sunday in July. The staff was very friendly and went out of their way to help us out. The course was the best part though. Not only was it in great condition, but it was beautiful and very playable. lush but not-to-thick fairways with maybe the fastest greens i've ever played (Onion Creek is up there). Plenty of trees, not too narrow and not too wide. Open where you want it to be but enough hazards to keep it interesting. If you're in austin, I would say this course is well worth the road trip out there. I try not to give 5 stars unless i'm really impressed, but this course is better than a 4-star "good". It's one of my new favorites.
condition
best condition this course has been in over 10 years, full great fairways, greens great shape, club house updated , cost of food and beer great compared to other courses, must try!
Greens and fairways were in excellent condition
Course is well designed to challenge the average golfer with well placed traps and water hazards. The course is fun to play and will not frustrate the average player.
Great Hill Country course
We were supposed to play 4-22-13 but had to change plans so we called the course and played 4-20-13. This course which was called Packsaddle went a major renovation in 2006 and the new holes are fantastic. Greens are excellent. The people who work there are very nice. Have been playing her since 1998.
fun but challenging
What a difference a year makes. We have played this course for the past 4 years and it is amazing the difference since it was purchased a couple of years ago. These new owners truly want this course to be something enjoyed by all. We had a great time. The staff has always been something special, but now the course is too!!
Best secret of good golf in Hill Country.Try the back tees if you want to be challenged.
Beautiful Hill Country with flowers for ladies and birdies for real golfers unless you play the back tees ,then good luck.
Do not miss the restaurant with great food from a great staff.
I have no interest in this course except love to pass on deals to others.
Too early in the Spring for course conditions
Early Spring and the course showed considerable wear/dormant grass. Really like the front nine. Boring on the back. Play was backed up considerably. Would recommend when weather allows course to improve.
Over booked, late start, lots of elderly slow players
If you like playing at a reasonable pace do not play this course in good weather because it will be full of elderly slow players.
great course
Course in great shape All around great place to play. Staff are super friendly
