Lighthouse Country Club
About
Located in the town of Kingsland on the shores of Lake LBJ, Lighthouse Country Club features 18 holes set in a charming, hill country in the heart of the Highland Lakes. The course was originally built in 1968, winds through scenic Hill Country property full of oak trees and red granite rock outcroppings. From many points, Packsaddle Mountain, one of the Hill Country's highest points, is in view from many spots on the course.
Lighthouse was formerly named Packsaddle Golf Club until the name changed in the fall of 2011 when new owners Rick & Mercy Howe purchased the bankrupt property and revitalized the golf course. Part of the enhancement was the construction of a brand new lighthouse at the clubhouse. In addition on on-course enhancements, Lighthouse constructed a handful of two-bedroom condos for stay-and-play packages and longer term winter homes.
In addition to the golf course, the facility also features a driving range, short game area and a full restaurant, bar and banquet facility.

The greens are very "true"
First time playing the golf course, my chiropractor told me about this course last year, and was thrilled with the experience. It's a bit of a drive from Bee Cave, but well worth the jaunt! While the course is not that difficult the greens make it quite challenging and "FUN" to play. We'll be back!
Holy granite we like this Hill Country course!
Play this course. Do it! Pretty much everything was very well kept and in great shape. For a course not in a big city, we were very impressed. Most courses require more play and funding to be this well kept.
The club house and grill were redone in the last year or so and are nicely done. Their grill smelled great but we already had lunch plans.
The driving range was a little more narrow than I'm used to but long enough to handle all of the clubs in your bag. They also have a second area at the opposite end to work on your chip/pitch game. The main practice green had a bit too much undulation but was otherwise in great shape. We also found a second smaller, flat practice green closer to the #10 tee box with a bunker in case you wanted to work on that part of your game.
The cart paths -- some concrete near tee boxes but mostly crushed gravel along the fairways. There are four tee boxes from which to choose. It's certainly not the longest course, but they put in a few twists and turns that'll help even things out.
The fairways were in spectacular shape. They are often lined with small to medium sized trees. There are a number of ponds on the property; you'll have to carry a couple of them. And there's a bunker or two on almost every hole -- some fairway, some greenside. As hard as it is for me to speak nicely of sand, it was at least good sand and the bunkers weren't too deep. The only other hazard you may find here and there are the granite rocks that make up this part of the country. In fact, take an extra minute on #6 to take in how they nestled this green up next to a huge granite mound. The greens all rolled very true and were in perfect shape. They were all good sized and had just enough undulation to keep them from being easy.
We will be back to play this course again!
One of my favorite courses
Played this course for the first time in over a year. Very beautiful fun course. Tee boxes, fairways and greens were in excellent condition. Very friendly staff. Will play again soon.
Friday Afternoon
Nice course. They have a member game each weekday at 1 so go off before that or it will be slower. Overall like the course and the staff is great.
Pair Up
I have only played this course twice. I paired but both times and each twosome who invited me to join were just the best gentlemen and I am sure we will be friends and golf buddies for a long time as I just moved to the area and need new ones.
Hidden treasure
Little known but great value. Greens were excellent. Challenging and interesting but fair. Burgers are great.
Worth the drive!
I was told the super had done a great job of reviving this course and he has done a great job. Enjoyed the course so much we played it again... Greens were in great shape. The Rock outcroppings remind you of AZ courses.... Drive out and have fun!
Lighthouse golf course
The course played good greens were a little bumpy as they were just verticut and airified but the rest of the course was in great shape!!!! We will return in a couple of weeks to see how the greens turn out
I like it
Beautiful course, they had just punched the greens so they were a little slow. I will definitely return. 6 and 7 were very picturesque.
Very good condition
Greens had been verticut &sanded & are in good shape. Course in great shape
Fun day
The day was beautiful, but windy. The course was fine everywhere, except the greens had just been sanded and were a mess. Putting was close to impossible. But I'd go again. It was a nice course. The hamburgers in the restaurant were awesome!
Fun Course
Fun course, but they are in the process of doing some maintenance on the front 9 and the greens had just been aerated.
Nice little course
The course is in good condition in spite of very recent maintenance of the greens---long and slow. The course is short at about 6500 from the tips but some trouble to make you pay attention.
Fun place...
My wife and I were traveling and wanted a place to play while driving through the area. We were very pleasantly surprised to find a course as nice as this available on a nice spring Saturday. The price was right, and the course was great fun. The golf course is challenging from the back tees without being overpowering. Its not a long course, but there are several holes which feature forced lay-ups. Plus, it was fair and enjoyable from the ladies tees. The only negative ( and its a minor one) is that you really need some local knowledge to understand what is ahead of you on three or four holes. The diagrams on the scorecard are not detailed and, unless you have played here before, there are some surprises awaiting you when you arrive at your tee shot.
The course was in great shape and very well maintained. The staff was very accommodating and the clubhouse/pro-shop was clean and well stocked. All in all, a very good experience. Only one complaint. It would have been nice to know before we drove out that the greens were aerated and topped earlier in the week. Still, very glad we made the drive and we will be back.
This course has challenging features
We used to play this course regularly with coworkers several years ago. It was primitive then with many beautiful wild flowers and few houses. Today, there are many houses and not as pretty wild flowers as before. Some holes were changed and modified and it was difficult to find them in the midst of new roads and houses. Overall it was great for the price and we enjoyed playing it.
Mr 1 Putt
great course for the bucks. always fun and challenging. very undulating greens but fun to play.
Every hole has it's challenge
Great day out, enjoyed by all.Course in super condition.Look forward to playing here again.
1st time, want to play again, great value
Great price, good course, friendly staff, good value.
This Course has many Challenges
Course was in good condition and play moved along with no waiting. Looking forward to going back and playing again. Would reccomend this course.
Very nice condition, tee to green
Tee boxes to greens were in very nice condition. Had no issues with pace of play, we played as a twosome. My first time playing the course, found course to be challenging in breezy conditions playing from the tips. Would definitely and look forward to playing the course again.
Sorry I meant stay left on 6.
