About
Amongst the chemical plants, refinery towers, and wood-lined waterways of La Porte lies the 18-hole Jay Riviere municipal known as Bay Forest. Riviere's design opened in 1988, featuring a tight front nine that opens up on the lake-dominated back side. Water is in play on 16 of 18 holes. Because of La Porte's proximity to the Gulf, the coastal winds make this a long course.
Despite its tight nature, the front nine offers a few nice birdie opportunities, including the short par 3 No. 6. This hole generally only requires a 9 iron to carry the bunker fronting the green.
On the back, the par 5 No. 10 is one of the most birdie-friendly holes on the course. It's followed by the signature No. 11-a great-looking dogleg right that bends around a pond to a well-bunkered green. The play with the approach on 11 is to leave it below the hole.
The par 5 No. 18 is a challenging finisher that requires good golf shots into the wind and the accuracy to avoid the water that sneaks into the fairway in the landing area from the right. The second shot must carry water and a bunker, and the recommended play on the approach is to keep it on the right side of the green.
Getting there : From Hwy. 45 south, take the 610 Loop north. When you come to Hwy. 225 head east and take the Pasadena exit. Turn right, find Hwy. 146 and go south (right). Next, get off at the Fairmont Pkwy. exit and turn left. When you get to South Broadway St., turn right and drive 1 mile to the course. The clubhouse is on the right side of the street.

Great Golf Course!
Greens are in excellent shape. No divots at all! Fairways in great shape too! Will definitely be back. Pace of play was slow... the 3some in front of my 4some played too slow.
Well maintained course
Enjoyable track with character. Greens rolled true. A bit of a drive from Katy, Tx but read good reviews and decided to try it out.

The course overall is in good condition. I expected more seeing the past reviews. The greens are slow and in consistent. I have played better courses for the same value.

Great Course
This course is well maintained, if there is problem they are working on it
Course has 5 par 5 and 5 par 3 holes which I like it makes it more balanced.

Course in great shape. Water on many holes. Challenging, but very playable. Individual carts for Covid-19 safety. We will play again this month!

One of the Bestbin Houston!
For the money Bayforest is the best deal in Houston. The greens are in consistently good shape and rival the higher dollar courses like Moody Gardens and Golf Club of Houston. The pace of play is usually good even on weekends. The staff is pleasant especially the cart girl and concessions girl. I really hope they keep it up, this makes me think about getting a membership there!

Greens always run fast and always in great shape. They keep loosing surrounding trees. Tee boxes is ok shape along with fairways

Favorite course
Tough test especially when the wind is blowing. If you are playing well you can score. Greens are nice.

Little soggy
The course was a little soggy from Monday’s rain. It played short but fun. Greens were deceptively fast and a lot bumpy. Fairways still dormant but no rough to speak of. I Only had time to play 9 holes but pace was good. Never had to wait on group in front of us.

Nice open course
Decent course. My only complaint is that the greens were inconsistent from one hole to the next but overall it was a good round. I’ll be back

Bay forest
Very easy course if your looking to walk 18 holes. This course always seems to be wet, but still plays well.

Needed my waders
I’ve played here many times. Because of our resent downpours the course was soaked. Lift clean & took relief from casual water on every hole. Cart path only obviously so was an extremely slow day. 5 hrs for a 4 some. The fairways & greens need to be mowed. Other then the wet conditions Bay Forest is well worth the 3 hrs of drive time I have to make. Would always recommend to play. I would wait until it dried out a little.
