Bay Forest Golf Course
About
Amongst the chemical plants, refinery towers, and wood-lined waterways of La Porte lies the 18-hole Jay Riviere municipal known as Bay Forest. Riviere's design opened in 1988, featuring a tight front nine that opens up on the lake-dominated back side. Water is in play on 16 of 18 holes. Because of La Porte's proximity to the Gulf, the coastal winds make this a long course.
Despite its tight nature, the front nine offers a few nice birdie opportunities, including the short par 3 No. 6. This hole generally only requires a 9 iron to carry the bunker fronting the green.
On the back, the par 5 No. 10 is one of the most birdie-friendly holes on the course. It's followed by the signature No. 11-a great-looking dogleg right that bends around a pond to a well-bunkered green. The play with the approach on 11 is to leave it below the hole.
The par 5 No. 18 is a challenging finisher that requires good golf shots into the wind and the accuracy to avoid the water that sneaks into the fairway in the landing area from the right. The second shot must carry water and a bunker, and the recommended play on the approach is to keep it on the right side of the green.
Getting there : From Hwy. 45 south, take the 610 Loop north. When you come to Hwy. 225 head east and take the Pasadena exit. Turn right, find Hwy. 146 and go south (right). Next, get off at the Fairmont Pkwy. exit and turn left. When you get to South Broadway St., turn right and drive 1 mile to the course. The clubhouse is on the right side of the street.

Good Muni style track
Fun play out here. Winds can be a challenge off of Galveston Bay. Greens were dry and fast, rolled true. Crowned up green complexes were difficult to chip from at times, as there were many tight lies and to negotiate. Overall lots of fun for the money, and will return.
Old Gem
Always enjoy playing here. Course is always in good condition. Staff is friendly and courteous. When the wind is gusting of the bay. This course is quite the challenge.
Cart Path Only
The course was cart path only because of the rains in the last week. The fairways were decent to hit from, not very wet. The greens were good for putting true.
GREAT DEAL!
My wife and I wanted to play and the weather was ok, if a little windy. course was wet from recent rain but considering the end of January, it was a GREAT day! Came to this course because of the spectacular deal! only $12 per player with a 1:00 pm Tee off.
Great day and while prices here are normally good, especially with the GREAT condition the course is in, but this deal was unbeatable.
Solid play and great price!
Got a hot time for this one at $12 each. Was fantastic and the weather cooperated too.
Happy to say course was in great condition even for end of January.
Pace and time
Tee time 11am were there little over hour plus, Did hit some at range, putting and stretching. We noticed one one had tee'd off it was 10:30 still on one waiting we inquired if we could start since one was even close to being ready. We were told they had paired us with two others and that it was not allowed. So we waited another ten mins or more finally two guy showed up but it wasn't our group. Since we were told only groups of 4 were playing. So as we waited two guys teed off even though not a 4some, Finally our guys showed up. So as were were on first hole behind us another two some teed off after them another two teed off. We told the guy's behind us to play thru. While on second hole two more guys were pushing us, we let them play thru. The only 4 some ahead and behind was us. Then the Marshall came to us and we were told to pick up the pace. We had a total of 3 visits from the Marshall. All rude and we replied the reason wasn't our pace but the fact there were several 2 Somers before and after. Golf is a head game, we were fighting the course and the Marshalls. Not going to play Bay Forest again that from the 4 guys being hurried and mad!!!!
Good course
I played this course in what was wet conditions as twp holes were cart path only. Overall it was not too wet but had spots left over from the rain where it was wet. The greens were pretty brown from the freeze but putted well anyway.
Rugged Conditions
Course was cart path only & range closed when other courses were normal operation. Extremely wet. Shop staff service is horrendous. Course can be good when conditions are good, but that’s iffy. Service has been bad for years.
Soggy and unplayable
Best Golf Course in Houston for the money.
Should have closed the course on Monday, way to soggy, too much water everywhere.
That being said my favorite course hands down.
Wet
T seems like there should be a cart path advisory on the GN app. I didn’t like learning about CPO after I drove across town to play there for a premium price.
Bayforrest
Although it had rained the day before.... Course was still in good shape... Greens were very slick and rolled true.... The course is pretty open, but go too much right or left... Gonna play long
Beautiful Day
Course was in great shape for this time of the year and considering we had two frost delays and a little snow the past seven days. Three of the par 5's were cart path only due to wet fairways but other than that all was well.
Best Conditioned Course in Houston
Best Golf Course in Houston.

Greens are Second to None.
Staff awesome.
Always a marshall on the course.
Golfer 55
Greens were smooth and fast and we finished with plenty of time. Great day for golf.
