Point Venture Golf Club
About
Built along Lake Travis in 1971, Point Venture was the first course in Leander, but has been overshadowed since the opening of Crystal Falls. The course has 9 holes that meander through a residential development and is loaded with dogleg holes and mature trees.
Jimmy Demaret designed the course, and his layout features two nasty par 5s. The best hole on the course is No. 7–a scenic hole that starts from an elevated tee box and plays downhill to a green surrounded by a lake.
Getting there : From I-35, exit FM 1431 and drive west approximately 25 miles to Lago Vista. Turn left on Lohman Ford Rd. and drive 8 miles to the Point Venture guard gate.

Golf
Maybe I didn’t pay enough attention but thought I booked a 18 course. Greens were in bad shape and club house no food available after the round
Course is fun to play
Course was convenient to where we were staying on vacation. Old course with fairways and greens in average condition. I was able to play a quick, comfortable round. Staff was friendly as well. Enjoyed the round. Will likely play there it again before returning home.
Fun 9 holes with great bar patio
We love playing this course then hanging out at the Caddie Shack afterwards. Friendly staff and great patio!
Hidden gem
Great course for a beginner golfer who doesnt want to spend to much money while learning to play.
Glad you enjoyed your day Hope to see you again soon!
Great Wildlife - Above average course
This was a great 9 hole course to take newer/girlfriend golfers. Tons of wildlife while golfing. If you bring some apples, deer will come right up to you and eat out of hand (not sure if this is permitted by course). A couple of photo op holes. Greens and fairways were in good condition. Just a little fast/hard greens. Sometimes difficult to read. Overall, we drove 1hr to golf and would do it again.
Good value and well maintained
Good nine hole course decent fairways OK tea boxes nice greens not much challenge for the player but I’m not a great player anyway so I enjoyed ability to play without a bunch of headaches.
I definitely play here again it’s a little bit out-of-the-way for me but it’s worth it if you just only have time for nine holes and you want to get around in on a weekend day
For whatever reason you charge me $14 for booking a teatime zero of that money went towards my teatime not cool
We do not charge a booking fee. That is the GolfNow booking engine. They charge a transaction fee for booking online, that is how they make their money.
Nice 9 hole course
This is a nice 9 hole course. Even playing the course twice is fun. It’s not the longest course but nice. The staff is very nice and the club house has lots to offer. The have food trucks, pool tables, outdoor patio, live music and much more.
Pace is slow
Pace was very slow. Short course and took over 5.5 hrs waiting around nearly every shot. Marshal did come by 3-4 times during the round but nothing was done to increase pace. Over booked, no food available at the turn and the prices for a simple snack were very high even for a golf course.
Chilly morning 3/24/2022
The course was a little wet with a lot of leaves/ dead grass. Just needs more time to breathe. Also the wind was blowing around 10-20 mph. Still a good time.
Glad you enjoyed your day. Hope to see you again soon!
