Point Venture Golf Club
About
Built along Lake Travis in 1971, Point Venture was the first course in Leander, but has been overshadowed since the opening of Crystal Falls. The course has 9 holes that meander through a residential development and is loaded with dogleg holes and mature trees.
Jimmy Demaret designed the course, and his layout features two nasty par 5s. The best hole on the course is No. 7–a scenic hole that starts from an elevated tee box and plays downhill to a green surrounded by a lake.
Getting there : From I-35, exit FM 1431 and drive west approximately 25 miles to Lago Vista. Turn left on Lohman Ford Rd. and drive 8 miles to the Point Venture guard gate.

Nice views
Plenty of deer to see. A fee up and down areas. Mostly clear & a couple of dog legs.
Greens were mostly sand but decent.
This course is excellent
I played with my family last week. The course condition is good enough to enjoy the play. Ths staffs were very friendly. Especially I like the golf cart. It's very comfortable.
First Review
Great layout. Greens could be improved with more watering. A handle bell would be useful to let the next group know when you are out range. Hole #2 and # 9.
Worth the Drive & Time
This is the best little 9-holer in Texas, hands down and without competition. The clubhouse, food trucks, and store are better than some fancy clubs. The driving range has a beautiful backdrop. The fairways were actually green and well-maintained. The greens were 7/10; the ball rolled nicely, with some bumps. Most of the tee boxes were good; 1-2 were sandy. While it is a 9-hole course, I played 18 and enjoyed the flow. The Saturday morning I played, they were super busy, but I have never felt the players were pretentious. If I kept up with the pace of play, then I didn't feel rushed. What a jewel. Honestly, it was the first time I ever truly thought about becoming a member. (Note, consider the course rating...this isn't Augusta, but it is a fabulous course for practice and sharpening skills.)
Not worth the drive if you don’t already live out in this area. Guys that work there don’t care about much. I waited 50 minutes past my tee time for a cart, got skipped over by a party of 5 that had a tee time 15 minutes after me. I was playing solo. Greens were absolute garbage. Tee boxes were abysmal. A few nice holes. The range is right on top of the first hole and runs into hole 6 or 7. There were range balls ALL OVER the fairway of that hole. Pay the extra money and play somewhere else if you’re serious about the game. This place is a joke.
Perfect for couples
This course well for my wife and me. She played for the first time since the start of Covid. We have always enjoyed playing this course together.
Great 9-hole course!
First time placing this course. The pace of play was great for a late Saturday afternoon. Staff was friendly and helpful. Course is in good shape as well.
Point Venture
Greens and fairways are in terrible condition. Possibly water restrictions have recently been put in place?
Fun Course to play
The course is laid out well and fun to play. The Greens were in bad shape and he fairways had very little grass. Should be good with a little bit of rain and sun.
