Point Venture Golf Club
About
Built along Lake Travis in 1971, Point Venture was the first course in Leander, but has been overshadowed since the opening of Crystal Falls. The course has 9 holes that meander through a residential development and is loaded with dogleg holes and mature trees.
Jimmy Demaret designed the course, and his layout features two nasty par 5s. The best hole on the course is No. 7–a scenic hole that starts from an elevated tee box and plays downhill to a green surrounded by a lake.
Getting there : From I-35, exit FM 1431 and drive west approximately 25 miles to Lago Vista. Turn left on Lohman Ford Rd. and drive 8 miles to the Point Venture guard gate.

Weekend Tournaments?
A few of the times I have played it is like the pace of play is good for 9 holes then drastically slows down for the following 9. I don't know if there are tournaments that integrated during the day or what. Makes it very slow to finish a round. It did not use to be this way a few years ago so I am not sure what has changed.
Good local course
I really enjoy this nine hole course specially just minutes from my home but the greens need improvement. Good amenities including driving range and practise putting green. Will play here again.
Scenic, Challenging and well maintained
Crystal Falls is an exceptional public golf course with scenic views and some very challenging Tee boxes. It is well maintained and the staff has always been friendly and professional. I would have to say that the food from the on-site restaurant was a bit of a disappointment. But I don’t play golf anticipating getting a good snack or lunch. I highly recommend Crystal Falls golf course.
Solid value
Good but but great course for the price. It is a 9 hole course with no bunkers & little water hazards. You likely won’t loose many balls so that is a plus. The only major complaint is the turn going to 10/1 because it gets backed up being a 9 hole course. Staff was great
Garden Golf
The most frustrating part of the course was the proximity of homes to the fairways. The number of times i ended up in someones garden was more than i care to remember. If you have a tendency to push or cut a shot this is not a course for you. If you slice you better have good insurance.
The greens were a bit rough, but the rest of the course was in good shape. I played the course twice.
This is always fun, the people are fun and easy to talk to.
I had a blast, didn't know I would play that well with my irons, course was nice and green. The people that run the show are always helpful. Great time, I'll be be back.
Glad you enjoyed your day! Look forward to seeing you again soon!
Price was fair
Overall good conditions considering lack of water in Texas. 1st hole green and slope in front a little unfair if not holding US Open there!
Almost impossible to keep a put from rolling off green and 30 feet back into fairway. Actually had an uphill putt stop near pin and roll back about 35-40 feet. Our twosome decided to play ball from where it stopped originally and take 3 putt as worst result.
Followed 4 of the slowest golfers, one hitting 50 yd drives. You would have thought they were playing in a money tournament. We were pushed from behind and held up by these guys. Not a lot of fun.
Sorry, we are overseeding the greens for the winter and w ehave to wait 14 days before we can mow them. Try us a gain in about a week and the greens will be great again!
