Hidden Falls Golf Club
About
Hidden Falls Golf Club is a Leon Howard design that opened in 1974. The course cuts through a pecan grove on the front and what seems like an ocean of water on the back, creating two totally different golf experiences. Howard uncharacteristically left out water on the tight, pecan-lined front, with the wet stuff in play on only one hole. However this one pond plays a role in the best hole on the course, no. 4, which features a pond and waterfall in the landing area off the tee. No. 4 is rated as the most difficult. The more open back nine is dominated by water. No. 10 starts off with a drive of 200-yards-plus over the pond fronting the tee. A small creek comes into play on the next three holes, which lead you to the other signature hole, no. 14. Water lines the left side of the 14th, and the approach is over a small pond. If that's not enough, the final three holes all feature water in play off the tee.

Great Course and Freindly Staff
Tee'd off at 1:15PM as a single and played the front 9 in about1.5 hours - had the place to myself! Lot's of sharp dogleg holes will make you play more precisely. Greens were very fast. Food was great and the staff super friendly - I will be back.
A tale of 2 Nines!
This course has two very different nine holes; the front nine is a little more open and no water versus the back that is very tight and has plenty of water. The entire course forces you to plan your shots and use every club in the bag.
Good experience
Pro shop attendant was very nice. He let me go off alone even though I was supposed to be paired with three others. He gave me a quick tutorial on how to play the course and I was off. Besides for a few dead spots, the greens rolled great. The rough was long the fairways were short as expected. All in all a fun experience.
Hidden Falls
Regularly play at this facility, course is is good shape, greens little bumpy and thin. all in all a very good experience, staff very friendly and helpful.
You'll be Pleased!!
First time playing this course. Was a little concerned due to some reviews but got a great deal on Golf Now and met my Son there for his Birthday round. No worries here! Terrific staff. Facilities were great. Newer carts. The course was in overall good shape. Greens were great - a little slow compared to what I usually play, but still in great condition. You do need some local knowledge for this course as there are blind shots and water/hazards. Even though the course is in a sub-division, it's still a great layout. Everyone was nice and super-friendly. The only downside for conditions was the fairways were a little "furry". Also, the rough was up and it's hard to find your stray shots. Will definitely be back.
Fun course, worth the drive
The pro shop staff was very friendly. The course was in very good shape for just coming out of winter. The greens rolled a little fast but true. There are a LOT of dog legs, both left and right. There are a few holes where water comes into play but no forced carry's you just have to lay up in the right spot and the holes play out well. What I thought was fun is there are some really wide fairways were you can let it rip. Then the next hole would be a dog leg and require placement to have a shot at the green...Lots of FUN.
If traveling through the area again I would not hesitate to play here once more.
Doctor Jekyl and Mr. Hyde
This layout has two different personalities.
The front nine is a regular parkland course with tree lined fairways and big greens. The only exception was hole #4, it had a lake.
The back nine is sneaky with water all over the place. If you don't pay attention you will be in the drink. This all starts with #10 hole. You have a drive over the corner of a big lake with OB on the left.
A nasty creek meanders along the next three holes, but it gets worse with long carries, hidden creeks, lakes and retention ponds in your path.
#17 is really sneaky. It looks like an easy par 3, but a huge pond lurks behind the berm. #18 is like running a gauntlet of lakes, ponds and creeks.
The fairways here are pretty gnarly. That's fairly deep grass and scraggly, not smooth. The greens are mottled and infested with weed, but they putt OK.
Jeremy in the pro shop is a friendly guy. He even let us start on the back side so we made good time.
They must have a good kitchen here. There were several lunch meetings going on.
the staff is the greatest
We had a great time. The course was challenging. They must be letting the fairways go to seed. The greens were fast. But we had a great time. The staff was the best.
My round
The course was in great shape considering we just came out winter. The greens rolled great and the course played tough!!!! Definitely a course I would recommend to all my friends and any golfer to try!!! Has great views and all the intricacies a golf course should have!!!! Great grill in case you get hungry during or after your round!!! Great day on the course!!!
Not that good, don't waste your time
The tees were good, the greens were great and the fairways were terrible. There was very little grass remaining on the fairways.
Additionally, the allowed 5 player groups and when we caught up to them, they were very rude.
They would drive directly up to the green, fool around and then leave the green in an absolutely maddening slow speed.
I will not be returning to this golf course.
Nice Greens!
Very playable course, no bunkers but you don't notice because of the mounds around the greens. Greens are in great shape for the time of year!
Excellent value
Friendly staff, well maintained and challenging. What more can you ask?
I will return at every opportunity!
Huge greens Wide fairways No sand traps
Third time playing Hidden Falls in the winter. Fairways were dormant and tight, but greens were in excellent condition. Green speed is moderate with undulating slopes and contours. No sand traps but lots of water hazards on back nine. Pace of play was good with very little waiting. Will definitely play again through Golf Now.
Nice option to have for a town this size!
The staff were all very friendly and accommodating. This visit included having lunch at their clubhouse and the quality was quite surprising. I ended up having a great burger. Special mention is needed for the big freshly-cooked crispy pieces of bacon and the extra tasty bun. Hungry now?
I have two (2) non-positive points:
1) cart path can be pretty rough in some places; due for replacement, and
2) they could use another water cooler on each nine holes
As for the rest of our visit, we were quite pleased with the course, the conditions, etc.
This course is on the older side (circa 1973) and therefore has a small clubhouse/pool/restaurant. It winds through the Meadowlakes community but the houses are not too close to the fairways. The front nine rolls and meanders through large pecan and oak trees. The back nine loses the majority of the trees but adds water on five (5) out of nine (9) holes; it can test you a bit at times. Overall, the course is not too long with the tips playing at 6732yds. With a few twists and turns along with well positioned trees, you're not going to pull out the driver on every par 4 or even par 5. The next wood or two down will get a lot more use at this course. And with some slight elevation change (always seemed to be hitting up to the green#, you may need to consider adding a iron now and then. If they had any bunkers I didn't find them on the course. The only one I saw was at the practice chipping green. The greens are all definitely on the average to larger side and rolled very true; they were in really nice shape.
Take a look at their layout map #on their web site) if it's going to be your first round there as you may want to read up on a couple holes. And if you think about it, pick up their course booklet that gives pretty good overviews of each hole along with some key yardages. This may help you avoid some of the water hazards, etc. that you can't always see from the tees.
This is certainly a course that we'll come back and play.
Tight course great greens
The majority of tee shots were very unforgiving. Narrow fairways, long par threes. Greens rolled true and were all the same speed which really helped me enjoy a good round.
Great Value!
If it wasn't so HOT outside, would have been a PERFECT afternoon of golf!
A very enjoyable golf course to play, not too difficult, but enough challanges to be fun.
Great Course for a Saturday Afternoon
Went here on a Saturday afternoon and it was perfect. Teed off @ 12:30 and saw two other people on the golf course. Easy to moderate front nine, more challenging on the back nine. When you go please donate a dollar or two to their cart path donation box. The paths need some lovin'. Lots of green grass on the course and very forgiving course for the slice. Have a blast! My Dad and I did and we will be back again and again from Austin (1 hour easy drive up 71) and San Antonio (1 and half hour up 281- Watch out for 281 traffic because of construction)
What a gem!
Found an incredible deal--twosome for $0.00! Took the drive to Marble Falls from Buda. Well worth the gas money! Similar set up as Quicksand in Wimberly, but much nicer. Course was in very good condition, staff was very helpful, course overview book provided, HUGH greens rolled true. Overall great experience. Wish it wasn't so far from home, but will make the effort to return.
