About
After 50 years, the old 9-hole McKinney Municipal Golf Course shut down to make room for the new 18-hole championship layout now known as Oak Hollow. This new layout, designed by Maury Miller, opened in 1998, featuring rolling terrain that routes around six manmade lakes.
Miller’s design is particularly friendly from the middle tees, playing a fair 6,277 yards with several short par 3s and many average-length par 5s. The number one handicap is No. 15, a 423-yard par 4.
Getting there : Take Hwy. 75 north to Hwy. 380, then head east to Hwy. 5 (McDonald St.). The road veers and leads you 1 mile to the course.

Pace insanely slow.

Nice Course, very good value.
Overall, pretty good layout. Greens were in good shape.
Not crowded on a Saturday morning, finished in just over 4 hours. Staff was friendly.

Decent Course
Tough track from the tips. Rough is very fluffy so staying in the fairway a must. Good layout, and mix of open and tight holes.
Good course for the money, only critique would be the fairway and turf directly in front of the holes was very wet and mushy, and the greens rolled a bit differently (at different speeds) from hole to hole making putting really difficult.
But I had fun, and would certainly play again.

Outstanding Golf Course
Oak Hollow Golf Course is a very pleasant place to play. It is well maintained and challenging. It has the perfect mix of easy, intermediate, and more difficult holes. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. It is one of my favorite places to play.

Not bad for a change of pace.
Came out here from Ft. Worth. It was fun with some interesting holes. For the price on a Sunday was amazing and pace of play was good too. The course conditions were what I was expecting and very playable

Too Crowded with rude players behind us
The Starter and Marshall were great. Just wish they were able to control the group behind us. The course was too crowded and there was a very rude foursome behind us.
We couldn't play any faster than the group ahead of us but the group behind us hit up on us several times. I believe they were all older senior players who played at this course a lot and all had bad attitudes. They took the fun out of a fun day.

Oak hollow is better
Course was in good condition. Greens needed mowing. Kind of slow but good. Fairways are in best shape I have seen.
This course has a very interesting layout.

Beautiful day that started out great
Played as a two-some, each in our own cart. A bit windy but otherwise, gorgeous. Played 13 holes in 90 minutes including playing through some great HS kids that were walking and having to wait briefly at holes 12 and 13 for the group ahead to tee off.
Then the wheels fell off.
Never could determine for certain if it was all the group in front of us or if they were held up (do not think so). Two older father/son groups, and it was clear neither son were golfers. I get that, but the fathers, appearing to be veteran players, should have known better. Their course etiquette was horrible. Aimless driving around looking for balls. Never splitting up so one could be getting ready while the other hit. Marking EVERY SINGLE PUTT. Leaning on putters, completely ignorant about ready-golf. On and on and on. Marshal came by several times but did nothing. I blame them as they should have observed their play and politely made recommendations/encouragement to speed it up. On the par 3 15th, they were on the green, we were on the tees and two other 4-somes were parked in the shade behind us.
We considered playing through but they never acknowledged us and we would have been hitting into them without them being aware of it. After going 13 holes in 90 minutes, it took us two+ hours to get to the 18th tee box. Waited briefly for them but none of them were on the green yet so picked up our balls and went home.
Courses need to be more proactive about this type of play.
BTW, course was in good overall shape for the season. A little dry (tee boxes were very hard) but otherwise in good shape. for October in north Texas.

Thie course conditions are like a cow pasture. The greens were pretty brown and many of the edges of the greens were completely gone. The greenskeeper turned the sprinklers on is on two holes and our tee time was 10:50am. The course is supposed to be relatively easy given its course slope and rating however don’t hit it even slightly off line or you’ll never find your ball. The Bermuda grass was so tall I literally found my ball 3 times by stepping on it.

Great experience
We played on a Sunday around 12, and usually expect quite a slow pace of play. Not the case here! There was a Marshall to get you started, and we never had to wait on a tee box. On a Sunday! The conditions were great, which is surprising since it’s a municipal course.
All in all, a great value for our money, and we will definitely be back!

Keep the ball in the fairway.
My son and I had a great time on this course. However, we lost a lot of golf balls due to not keeping our tee shots in the fairways. The rough was also long and penalizing. The greens were in good shape. Overall, you will enjoy this course. Hole #8 is the signature hole, and a bogey will seem like a birdie on it.

A Municipal Course Done Right!
Play this course! You wont regret it. And no, I dont work for them. The price is right, and the course is always in great shape for a Municipal.
