Heritage Ranch Golf and Country Club
About
Heritage Ranch serves up an especially challenging par 72, 6,988-yard Arthur Hills design that rolls through the oaks and pecans just outside of Fairview. And while it’s part of a gated, active-adult residential community, the course is open to the public and especially fun because it integrates well with the neighborhood. Houses line some fairways, but a fair number of holes provide that natural, rural feel that is always so welcome on a golf course.
While the course is not particularly demanding off the tees, the real challenge at Heritage Ranch comes from the mound-shaped greens. If your irons aren’t dialed in, you’ll be working hard for ups and downs.
No. 1 is a unique opener because it bends left down to a fairway and green that aren’t visible from the tee. Big drives can get close, but the recommended play is to take a long iron and draw it over the hill.
The par 5s on the front are nice holes. No. 3 doglegs right and requires a good tee shot, followed by a relatively easy second shot into a widening fairway toward the hole. The trick is nailing the short iron (almost a blind shot) into the elevated green guarded by bunkers on the front. No. 7 is longer and offers a good chance for birdie, again because of its wide-open nature.
No. 16 is the signature hole: a par 3 masterpiece that plays along a natural spring waterfall. You’ll need to nail a long iron over the valley and avoid the trees that overhang the fairway from the right.
No. 18 is a good finisher–it’s a long par 4 that doglegs left around a few large fairway bunkers, then works its way uphill to an elevated, mound-shaped green surrounded by bunkers. Ups and downs are possible here if you miss the green back left, which is easy to do when you approach with a fairway wood.
Getting there : Only 20 miles northeast of Dallas, take I-75 north to the Stacy Road exit, then turn right and drive to the dead end. The road jogs to the left, then right, and continues as Stacy Road. The entrance is 2 miles down on the left.

Always a great place
We played in the afternoon (3pm). It was hot but the course was empty. We loved it. Drink water!
Challenging Course
This was my second time playing this course and it was in just as good of shape now as it was in May. Very well maintained. I’ve played at other courses in the area that through this heat and dry weather have struggled to keep grass healthy and tee boxes soft enough to put a tee in the ground. Green speeds were extremely fast, but exactly what you would expect for the money.
My only gripe is that I find it difficult to justify paying +100 after 4:00pm, especially in the summer heat. I personally try to cut myself off around 75-80, and being from the northeast I’ve seen similarly kept courses going for those rates. I’d love to say I’d be back to play consistently, but at those prices it’s not feasible.
I’m curious to play others at cheaper rates in the area and see how the course compares to others.
Best greens, best conditions, best public course in the area
I absolutely love this course. First of all I think they have my favorite greens to putt on anywhere. I mean, anywhere. I don’t know how they do it but they always roll true. It’s such a fun layout. #15 is my favorite hole because there’s a tiny little area you can drive into where if you hit it right you’re rewarded with a speed chute that will carry the ball down to the green. I’ve had a couple eagle putts on that hole. Not too hard and not too easy course - just right. Awesome practice facility with free range balls and chipping area with grass wedge practice tees. This is my go-to course when I want to take an out of town friend to someplace nice. I think it’s in the top tier of public courses locally and I like it more than Cowboys GC, for instance.
Great course, well maintained!
Wide open fairways with challenging greens complement each other well. Feels like a championship level course at a budget friendly rate. I found my new favorite course in the area!
Heritage Ranch
Great layout. Perfect fairways and greens. Will definitely be back.
Front 9 was close due draining issues the Club House instructed me to reach out to you guys and get a discount for twilight rate we paid for 18 holes
Great!
Well kept course. Great layout. Was definitely one of the best over played.
Great Course
Greens were punched not too long ago, but green fees were discounted accordingly which I think all clubs should do!! In 4 weeks or so, this course will be a MUST play.
Great Course
The Course was is great shape. Awesome layout. Greens were fast and with the pin placement the day I played it was definitely a challenge. Had a blast and can’t wait to play there again!
Firm Greens
Played this course several times in the past. Don't recall the greens ever been this firm. No ballmarks any where. Hit the front of the green from 165 and ball went flying over the other side. All day long....the greens are too firm and will not hold.
Great layout. Fun day!
Wonderful country club & golf course. The front 9 (few houses due to floodplain) is a gem. Back 9 is great too. Although, the two 9s have a bit of a different feel. Both great but the front was my favorite. Pace of play was a little slow but it was a beautiful day with nowhere to go. Nice amenities at the clubhouse with bar or patio seating/dining. Great experience. Definitely recommended.
No April Fools
Course was in great shape for an early season round with friends. Pace of play on a windy day was no problem at all.
Love the greens.
Staff was nice and accommodating!!
Incredible course. Slight discolorations and inconsistencies in tee boxes, fairways, and rough are only reason conditions didn’t get 5 stars. Greens were FAST and hard, making for a good challenge
