Oak Hollow Golf Course
About
After 50 years, the old 9-hole McKinney Municipal Golf Course shut down to make room for the new 18-hole championship layout now known as Oak Hollow. This new layout, designed by Maury Miller, opened in 1998, featuring rolling terrain that routes around six manmade lakes.
Miller’s design is particularly friendly from the middle tees, playing a fair 6,277 yards with several short par 3s and many average-length par 5s. The number one handicap is No. 15, a 423-yard par 4.
Getting there : Take Hwy. 75 north to Hwy. 380, then head east to Hwy. 5 (McDonald St.). The road veers and leads you 1 mile to the course.

Great for the Kid
Great for working on the short game and playing with my six-year-old son.
It’s worth it
I play this course regularly and have reviewed it several times. Simply put it’s a nice course with a friendly staff. I recommend you go play it.
Great Course for the Price
Challenging and fun course for the occasional golfer. Hole 8 is unforgiving, but very fun to play. Will play many more rounds here.
Worth playing
Fairways and greens were in great shape. Greens had very good roll. Just a good old fashioned golf course that is worth playing. Very friendly staff. Go play it. It’s worth it.
Great Time!
The course is fun to play. I learned how to play golf on this course. Challenging enough to motivate me to improve and forgiving if I make too many mistakes. At the time I was in the ladies golf group and had a fantastic time. Hope to return soon to the course. Missing golf due to surgery to my right shoulder.
Last Round of 2017
Played this round at twilight, and it turned out to be my last round of 2017. It also turned out to be my best scoring round of the year. I enjoy playing at Oak Hollow. It is a great city course with a few challenging holes. For the most part, the course is pretty wide open.
First time playing here
I enjoyed playing this course. I got paired up with a group of older guys and a walker, so it was a little slower than i normally play but it was still decent pace because the course was fairly empty. it was 44 degrees and windy. The layout was pretty good, lots of doglegs. the course was in good condition for winter. the greens were in good shape. very fast. there were a few challenging holes. i will play here again if i get a good deal. i payed $28 and i think that was a good value for this course.
Goog Muni
This course is good for the average golfer. Green speeds are very good for 'old school bermuda'.
Course needs water in the Summer. Hard to believe the city of McKinney doesn't take better care of this place.
Once you get off the fairway its hard to find your ball
Hole # 8 needs a redesign. Hole #14 is funky too, no grass in the fairway. A lot of fairways have no grass in the fairway making for a lousy 2nd shot..
I like....
This is an older course that is one of my favorites to place. It was 49 degrees when I played. I like the layout of the course. It was in winter shape and damp. If you get a chance go play it.
Course not crowd during the week
Course is easy to get onto, great location for me as i live in McKinney, staff is very friendly
Much improved since early season 2017
Played this course a number of times over the past 5 years. Earlier this season I wrote a scathing review of the dead greens but now have to applaud their efforts to repair the greens.
As of Nov 2017, the greens are in near perfect condition.
Fun course
I enjoy playing this course. It’s simple but challenging in a few areas. I was playing as a single from the tips and I had a 3-some in front of me that would not let me play through. That kinda suck.
Greens in very good shape!
Great afternoon value during the week. Hadn't played course for years but will be back soon!
Hidden Gem
I have played this course on a number of occasions and have enjoyed every round. Course is currently in very good shape, both greens and fairways. Earlier in the year the greens were a little spotty but have come back nicely.
Only criticism is hole number 8 which is the signature hole. It is beyond challenging for the beginning/ intermediate golfer and many play the hole by hitting to the neighboring fairway which can create a dangerous situation.
Overall though I consider the course one of the best values in the metroplex. Friendly staff and adequate facilities for the price.
Excellent Choice
This course is well taken care of with friendly staff always willing to help. The course is challenging and you have to manage it. Lots of blind shots and dog legs. If you stay in the fiarway you will be good. Excellent course for the very reasonable rate. I play here often and always have a good experience.
