Oak Hollow Golf Course
About
After 50 years, the old 9-hole McKinney Municipal Golf Course shut down to make room for the new 18-hole championship layout now known as Oak Hollow. This new layout, designed by Maury Miller, opened in 1998, featuring rolling terrain that routes around six manmade lakes.
Miller’s design is particularly friendly from the middle tees, playing a fair 6,277 yards with several short par 3s and many average-length par 5s. The number one handicap is No. 15, a 423-yard par 4.
Getting there : Take Hwy. 75 north to Hwy. 380, then head east to Hwy. 5 (McDonald St.). The road veers and leads you 1 mile to the course.

Nice little course
Enjoyed round - good weather - first hole had water accumulation but rest of holes were fine.
Course is probably considered somewhat "easy" for more experienced golfers - but all courses are hard to me.. I usually shoot mid to high 80's - shot 78 here .. thats my best score - greens not too difficult..Will come back especially for the hot deal prices
Good course- Great value
It wasn't the blue bird day you get every one in a while but it was a good day to golf. Little windy but that's Texas. It had rained the night before but we were still able to cart under 90 deg rule. My second time and I'll be back.
Slow pace!
Have played this coarse many of times with no issues. Today it SUCKED! No Marshall on coarse to make sure the pase was flowing. It took 5.5 hrs to play 18 & there was only 3 of us.The plus is we kept the cart girl busy, she was great!
Fast and Good value
Fast, fun and inexpensive round. The greens were in good shape.
Nice time sunday
Easy to get to, challenging course, great pace of play for a Sunday noon time. Beware those rolling hills if cart path is not available
Pace of play
We had a 730 tee time. Foursome in front of us 40 handicaps playing the back tees it was so slow we watched there whole round never went let us o threw the course marshal was useless so slow
Course is OK, not sure I would try it again
When we checked in, we were told they were running about 15 minutes behind so they offered tokens for range balls and apologized. We didn’t tee off until about an hour past our tee time and of course were then concerned if we could get 18 in before the sunset (and we were not able to finish). By now, the course was pretty backed up so had to wait for golfers ahead of us to clear on probably 1/2 the course. The staff was apologetic and offered us a free round the next time, so they were trying their best to acknowledge the unfortunate situation we were in. The course conditions were ok, not great. The course doesn’t have very many sand traps to get stuck in, has some elevation changes, and was overall relatively easy to play. The course directions were a little unclear but we had someone with us who played here before so that was helpful. We are new to the area and knowing there are plenty of courses to try, we will most likely seek an alternate course for the next round.
Great municipal course
You can’t beat the online specials for this course and the course itself is fun and several holes are challenging. I stack this muni against others in the area for fun and value. Greens are usually fast, which I like and will play here throughout the year.
Impressed with improvements
I’ve payed Oak Hollow probably something like 30 times over the past ten years or so. It’s never been one of my favorites—the layout is OK, the course conditions have typically been marginal, and the pace of play has always driven me crazy. I have to say, however, that this was one of the most fun rounds I’ve played in quite awhile, in spite of the fact that it was cart path only due to the massive rains of late. The greens on this course have obviously been reworked and were in the best condition I’ve ever seen them—kudos to the staff who’ve clearly worked hard to improve the conditions. The last time I played here I really thought I’d never come back, but I was going to be in the area and got a cheap tee time so I gave it another chance. Really glad I did! The staff here are so friendly and helpful and I ended up playing with a super group of guys. Thanks also to Carey who is one of the best hospitality people in the business—treats everyone like a friend.
A wet day to play
This is a very nice course to play with a very friendly staff. The course was wet due to heavy rain so there were some wet fairways and mud but me and a friend made the decision to play anyway. The greens are in very good shape. It has holes that you can recover on if you have a bad shots; and there are holes that will test your game and penalize you for bad shots. It is one of my favorite course to play. And GolfNow hot deals make it a great value for the money.
