Oak Hollow Golf Course
About
After 50 years, the old 9-hole McKinney Municipal Golf Course shut down to make room for the new 18-hole championship layout now known as Oak Hollow. This new layout, designed by Maury Miller, opened in 1998, featuring rolling terrain that routes around six manmade lakes.
Miller’s design is particularly friendly from the middle tees, playing a fair 6,277 yards with several short par 3s and many average-length par 5s. The number one handicap is No. 15, a 423-yard par 4.
Getting there : Take Hwy. 75 north to Hwy. 380, then head east to Hwy. 5 (McDonald St.). The road veers and leads you 1 mile to the course.

Gem to find
Course was busy as we played on a Saturday. Pace was good. Enjoyed the layout as it requires using all your clubs. Greens are in great shape but playing for the first time, hard to read. Putted consistent thru the whole course, tho. Driving range hitting zones were pretty rough from a full week of practice rounds but at least they aren't mats!!!!! It's definitely on the list to revisit on a week day! I WILL be back!!
Great shape for Summer!
Pace of play 4:19 on a Monday.
Fairways and tee boxes in good shape.
Greens in great shape. They were redone last fall and are firm and roll true, no bare spots. One downside is that they're so firm they don't hold approach shots well. I hit @ 13 of 18 greens and only 5-6 held on the surface, the rest ended up on the collar or just in the green side rough.
Wonderful course!
And not played this course in 20 years, wonderful condition great value, good Pace and Play
Oak Hollow after Storms
Maintenance is trying to catch up with the growing rough. Some areas need to be bailed and some areas still need mowing. Overall, OH is a good course to have fun playing with your friends.
Great course
Great local course with friendly staff and even after rain the course dries up quickly.
Love this course
Been playing this course for years with my buddies as it’s a nice in between course for all of us. I didn’t get into golf seriously until 4 years ago and yesterday was my first time playing seriously… really enjoyed myself and the course. I’ll be back
Greens turning already
Overall course is great value for the money. Some of the brand new greens are already drying out and have major spots that are in poor shape. Fairways are okay, but need punched and grass growth. They have a major tournament I’m playing in next weekend and the greens are so firm it’s going to be hard to stick any shot on them.
Great Improvments
Now that the track has grown in after the course makeover, I can say it's improved greatly. Fairways are much better and the greens are upper tier. The driving range is far better than it's ever been. Overall, a good experience!
Good course
First time playing here. Had heard that they recently re-did the tee boxes and greens. It showed because they were in excellent shape. The rest of the course was not too bad, certainly playable for an average golfer. It was quite busy and the pace of play was somewhat slow; there was one hole in particular that seemed to always have 2 or 3 groups back up on it. We weren’t in a hurry so it was not a big deal. We would definitely play here again.
3 hrs 9 holes
I booked off of golf now, this is not their fault !!
Paid at course, seemed normal, had a starter, started backing up on the second hole, the three of us were behind a twosome, each of the holes we had close to 10 minute wait, by the end of nine, we find out that there was ( four ) fivesomes in front of us. I know at least nine players walked off. When saying something to the course marshal, he stated if we didn’t like the way they ran the course, there are other courses. So call before you book to make sure this doesn’t happen to you !!!
Great course
Tees, fairways, and greens all in great condition. Was cart path only due to recent rain. Had good drainage but muddy in spots. Looking forward to my next round there in the near future.
Improved but not great
New greens are better than Ana Poa infested greens. There are dips and rough spots that need to be leveled. Remodeled restroom on course is very nice.
