Llano Grande Golf Course
About
Llano Grande Resort is surrounded by palm trees and citrus groves. But no matter how you paint the picture, it's still an 81-acre mobile home and travel trailer park for winter Texans that features an 18-hole "championship" layout with four sets of tees.
While the tips plays at a reasonable 6,781 yards, we recommend that you play the course from the blue tees, which still plays at a respectable 6,387 yards but cuts the par 3s down to mid-short iron range and makes the par 4s very enjoyable. This track gives you the opportunity to start well with a mid-range par 3, but follows it up with one of the most difficult holes on the course, a 416-yard par 4.
Getting there : Take Hwy 83 west and proceed 15 miles to West Road. Take the only turn you can and drive 1.5 miles to Golf Course Road.

Great place for a round of golf
Wife and I have played Riverbend 2 times this winter so far and will do it again for sure.
Staff is always very friendly and the course is in fair shape, It is a good course for a level of players.
Very dffficult to find your ball in the bermuda grass
This grass swallows up the ball, you need to be directly over the ball to find it. This made playing as a single exceptionally challenging. Lost at least 4 balls that should have been found..
A little gem in the Valley
Friendly staff. This is a surprisingly good and challenging course. I played it on a windy day (15-25 mph). Although it is wide open, with very few trees offering obstructions, and not exactly a long course, straying from the fareway off the tee will definitely complicate your approach shot in every hole. The greens were not the greatest but we’re very consistent and rather small. A few tee boxes were in crummy shape. The rough was definitely challenging as it was tall and, in some areas, very thick. Errant shots on narrow fareways will put you on knee high grass or water making your ball unrecoverable. Holes 11 and 18 were my favorites. Worth the money spent!
Open before ready
Front nine not bad. Grass still a little high
Back nine not cut hardly at all. Lost several golf balls in the middle of the fairway. I've played there before with much better results. We will try there later in the season.
Good for the money
The lady in the pro shop was courteous. Not so much for the man. Greens were very good. Fairways were decent but a bit bare. Shot a 78 so a good day.
Always Fun to play a new course.
Kinda reminds me of the many Texas country courses i cut my teeth on learning to play this great game. With a very friendly helpful staff as well as fellow golfers another day well spent on the golf course. Very little to fear off the tee with very few trees and water that is easily avoidable. Thanks to the Texas golfers assistance program (hard fairways And constant breeze) you will surely find half the holes quite manageable while the other half will be tough and find yourself hitting to postage stamp greens in every case. I found the greens to be in somewhat of a transitional period as they were a little thin in areas but smooth with no foreign grasses. There are several adjacent fairways that would warrant your being on the lookout for misguided missiles that is another characteristic of the old Texas golf courses. So go and enjoy.
Winter season
The greens are dormant even though the ball still rolls decent. T boxs could be mowed more often.
It’s ok
Decent price for 18 with cart. Course layout is confusing and course conditions aren’t very good. Very friendly helpful staff and the pace of play is great as there’s not a lot of people playing it
Not a current fan of golf now
We drove all the way there to find out it is closed on sundays. That however did not deter you from charging us a non refundable amount.
Thoroughly disgusted with golf now
Llano Grande 3/15/20
It's a decent course. The layout is a little confusing, but you can figure it out. The course was pretty dry, something about pumps not working? (can't you just find someone to fix them?) This caused the balls to run a lot. Not a lot of rough, a few ponds, not sand traps or grass traps. The wind was a extra opponent. Unusually not a lot of trees either, hmph? It may be worth the trip if you are in the mid valley, but ??? Not too many amenities on a Sunday, the grill was closed and certain food available on certain days. May want to call if you are hungry. Staff was friendly!
The burger was good and the beer was priced right, but the course is a bit rough!
Probably won’t be back because other nicer courses are closer to us. The people running the place and the golfers we interacted with were great, the course needs some tlc, lots of golf traffic so lots of winter Texans play several times a week. Scale of 1-10, probably a 5
Pace of Play
Front 9 was open and we moved quickly. But at #10 we were behind an outing with some slow golfers.
This is a good bargain course. It is not a top-end course by any means. So I would recommend it in the right situations.
Interesting Layout
Very interesting layout for a flat course with few trees but with strategic water hazards and rough. It would be so much better if they would just cut the shaggy greens to normal height. The greens are watered but a lot of the mixed grass is just not cut though the greens are smooth and not sloped a lot. No different than last year! If you put a good roll on the putt it will behave as anticipated. All in all an ok course. The clubhouse staff are great and the food is good.
