Llano Grande Golf Course
About
Llano Grande Resort is surrounded by palm trees and citrus groves. But no matter how you paint the picture, it's still an 81-acre mobile home and travel trailer park for winter Texans that features an 18-hole "championship" layout with four sets of tees.
While the tips plays at a reasonable 6,781 yards, we recommend that you play the course from the blue tees, which still plays at a respectable 6,387 yards but cuts the par 3s down to mid-short iron range and makes the par 4s very enjoyable. This track gives you the opportunity to start well with a mid-range par 3, but follows it up with one of the most difficult holes on the course, a 416-yard par 4.
Getting there : Take Hwy 83 west and proceed 15 miles to West Road. Take the only turn you can and drive 1.5 miles to Golf Course Road.

under "construction"
The fairways were good shape, but the greens left a lot to be desired. Very bumpy, bare spots. The front half was very crowded but by the time we got 1/2 way thru the back, everyone was gone. There is no running water at the facility at this time. They are in the process of installing new water supply lines, so right now there are only porta-potty's and no drinks available at the clubhouse (not even bottled water). The price we got online at Golfnow was fantastic. I'm assuming that is partially because we booked almost at the last minute, and also because of the lack of services available. All in all, I would play for that prices any day, and will now know to bring my own cooler.
Rough Around the Edges
It was a very windy day which made the course more challenging as the wind swoops down into this flood plain golf course. The rough was in good shape, as grass was just long enough. Most fairway grass was a bit long. Greens were not consistent with some very nicely short, but very wet and spiked. Other greens as in the back nine were long and difficult to have true rolls. There are not too many trees to help define the fairways so the fairways run right next to each other. There were some very wet spots on the fairways that could use draining or leveling with fill dirt. The regular price is high for a course in this condition, but we got an excellent price value on Golfnow which made this course more acceptable. The conditions do make the course challenging and there is plenty of water to contend with. Some greens are high and built up and small with sloping sides which again make it very challenging. The layout is tightly constructed, but altogether the terrain, grassy surroundings, and unique water areas make the course grow on you.
Course review
Course need some work tieeihe greens need work A lot of standing water.
Course was in decent shape
However, the club house did not have water therefore beverages, bottled or canned were not available. As we made the turn 3 groups were at the 10th tee. This slowed down the back 9 tremendously. Marshals said the clubhouse personnel place group on the back in this fashion. Not a good move.
Course can be difficult if windy.
Good course for the money.
Bring extra ball if windy.
Over booked
We had to start on the back as they had 10-15 people standing on #1 tee. Fairways in average condition, greens were in poor condition. They were not selling any drinks because they had no water. [???]
