About
Developers eventually had their way with this cow pasture on the fringe of Houston. Loaded with native pecans and oaks and supplemented with even more transplanted trees, the terrain is ideal for golf, with two creeks and five natural lakes on the property. In fact, it's good enough to host the PGA Tour's Houston Open in 1973 and 1974.
The traditional El Dorado Course plays to a par 70 and features five par 3s that go 190-yards-plus from the tips. Jay Riviere designed the back nine.
Jeff Blume managed the redesign and complete renovation of the El Dorado Course in 2009.

Challenging But Fun
I took my son to play this course since he was visiting from Connecticut. We skipped the driving range which is very small considering this place has two courses. The putting green needed some attention and the chipping area was closed. I like the layout of the course especially starting out with a par 5 dogleg left. There are plenty of bunker and water hazards so you need to pay attention. This place is about course management and not how far you can hit the ball. We only made it through 15 holes and mother nature decided to open the floodgates. I will definitely come back because the staff was friendly, the carts worked and you can't beat the price.

Short review
Hope Course gets back to normal . The freeze made Course difficult to play, especially the soft greens and unmown fairways.
Hot deal was a reasonable price . Glad I didn’t pay full rate.
Will not play for awhile!
Awesome day for golf considering the pending inclement weather, really enjoyed playing El Dorado, Quail Valley. Hope to play it again soon!
Great round on a wet course.
We did not walk. That is, we used carts, but it was "carts on path" because of wet grounds, so we did walk.
Conditions were just fine. Very little standing water on fairways. Greens a little slow but true.
Playing was lots of fun.
Love the Layout
I have played La Quinta a couple of times and honestly was not impressed. However, the El Dorado course is impressive - love the layout, great condition and thought shorter than I am use too, loved the challenge.

Many water hazards make me hard but will challenge again.
Good Value for the Money
Course was in good shape overall. Greens were smooth and rolling great, fairways has plenty of grass and were very playable. Had played just after a scramble was completed so was able to get around in less than 3 hours with two players. Would definitely go back if the price is right.
Good local course
Fairways were large and the course was straightforward but punished you off you got in the rough. Plenty of water and sand to keep you honest. Greens in good shape. Good value with later morning tree time. Staff was friendly. Would play again.
