El Dorado at Quail Valley Golf Course
About
Developers eventually had their way with this cow pasture on the fringe of Houston. Loaded with native pecans and oaks and supplemented with even more transplanted trees, the terrain is ideal for golf, with two creeks and five natural lakes on the property. In fact, it's good enough to host the PGA Tour's Houston Open in 1973 and 1974.
The traditional El Dorado Course plays to a par 70 and features five par 3s that go 190-yards-plus from the tips. Jay Riviere designed the back nine.
Jeff Blume managed the redesign and complete renovation of the El Dorado Course in 2009.

Golfer Reviews
The Marshal was effecting play negatively
The marshal was rushing us even tho we’re play at a great pace I didn’t enjoy my round at all.
Challenging course in great condition
The course is well maintained. It is a challenging course but very enjoyable. Car with drinks should pass more often
Course was in good shape
Course was in good d shape
Some of the tee boxes were very hard and difficult to put a tee in the ground.
Near one of the greens, our cart and the cart of the person playing with us went into restricted mode. We had to down the cart path and turn the cart around and then back up the cart path past the restricted area. Both carts were on the cart path when the restricted lock out occurred. The group behind didn’t seem to have the same issue
Extremely strange
Great course!
I have played this course once before and it was in great shape then. This time did not disappoint. With the recent heat(and lack of rain) I was surprised that the fairways weren't hard and fast like most courses in the area. They apparently have a great watering system. Greens rolled fast and true yet were very receptive. The cost is usually a bit out of my price range since I don't play often enough to justify however, I received a great rate on Golfnow and couldn't pass it up even though it was in the "heat of the day". Would highly recommend this course!
Hot but enjoyed the round
Played in 3.5 hrs. Conditions improved since aerating greens. Hot day but cart girl kept me refreshed. Price was great. Thanks GolfPass!
Excellent Course - But, Punched Greens
Awesome course and layout. Very challenging. Greens were recently punched and were slow and did not run true. Give it a few weeks to heal provided the course waters the greens thoroughly. We will play again, but we should have had a discounted round due to the poor condition of the greens; especially since it was 100 degrees. :)
