El Dorado at Quail Valley Golf Course
About
Developers eventually had their way with this cow pasture on the fringe of Houston. Loaded with native pecans and oaks and supplemented with even more transplanted trees, the terrain is ideal for golf, with two creeks and five natural lakes on the property. In fact, it's good enough to host the PGA Tour's Houston Open in 1973 and 1974.
The traditional El Dorado Course plays to a par 70 and features five par 3s that go 190-yards-plus from the tips. Jay Riviere designed the back nine.
Jeff Blume managed the redesign and complete renovation of the El Dorado Course in 2009.

Love Quail Valley
The greens and fairways were in good condition, may need signs reminding people to fix divots on the greens.
Great course but need more cart
I love this course. Everything is excellent except I have to 20 minutes for cart
Pace of play
Terrible pace of play and management of tee times, it took a group of 6 and a group of 2 in front of me 30 minutes to get to the green while players stacking up behind the first tee waiting as well
Punched greens
Generally, good conditions, but either Quail Valley or GolfNow should warn golfers that the greens have been recently aerated.
The punch holes on the greens made true putting impossible.
Poorly managed tee times
I’ve played El Dorado a few times before and had good experiences, but this time was absolutely awful. It was off to a bad start when a group of 12 was waiting right behind us on the first tee box. We were on time for the tee time, so not sure why there were so many people there already. No matter, we played on and everything seemed to be okay. Greens were going through aerification, so there’s that too. By hole 3, we were getting gestures from the group behind to hurry. Marshal was called in by hole 6, and we informed them we were trying our best to keep up with pace. We just had some high handicappers in the group. By hole 11, we were asked to skip a hole to only get backed up by the next group up. We waited the rest of the round for the groups ahead. Finished in 3 hours 52 minutes exactly after waiting at least 15 minutes for groups in front after 13. I think the issues were poorly managed tee times and the marshal allowing the group of 12 to convince him to make us skip a hole when we were on pace. Brought some friends to play this course for the first time and I doubt they will be coming back. I don’t think I will either even though I like the course. Golf courses need to be more accommodating for newer players or the game will never grow. Disappointed to say the least.
Great Value
The best course in fort bend county, it’s well taken care of. Just pace of play could be better, too many old guys take it too serious when they aren’t any good.
Overall good condition
Overall, course in pretty good shape, despite the drought they are watering and have some cushion in the fairways. Greens were in good shape but not very fast.
Overall course played very well. The water in the ball cleaner’s needed to be changed, horrible smell. The towels on the ball changers were all muddy. Our balls came out dirtier. The driving range balls were also very dirty.. I did love the course, played very well, we will return.
