About

Developers eventually had their way with this cow pasture on the fringe of Houston. Loaded with native pecans and oaks and supplemented with even more transplanted trees, the terrain is ideal for golf, with two creeks and five natural lakes on the property. In fact, it's good enough to host the PGA Tour's Houston Open in 1973 and 1974.

The traditional El Dorado Course plays to a par 70 and features five par 3s that go 190-yards-plus from the tips. Jay Riviere designed the back nine.

Jeff Blume managed the redesign and complete renovation of the El Dorado Course in 2009.

It was my 1st time I played EL Dorado very nice track greens are in great shape. Tee boxes a little dry but everything overall was good

SO SLOW

Quit after 5 holes. Tee time was scheduled for 1:00, did not get to tee off till 1:40. Counted nearly 16 people on the 5th hole. Waited nearly 20 minutes between each hole to tee off again. Fun course but so incredibly slow. Overbooked I guess.

Come on out to Quail Valley

Recent gas spikes have put a damper on courses more than 30 minutes away. That said, the staff made a very competitive offer on the week day I played. It was well worth the extra drive. Greens were excellent on the Eldorado course. Be careful going after wayward balls on par threes, the cart will shutdown if you drive off the path. Reverse will get you back. The GPS is a nice touch. My only complaint from the gold tees is number 17. A south wind makes it nearly impossible to land a tee shot without dunking. Move up to red to make it fair if you are a senior. Really nice community center housing the pro shop.
