El Dorado at Quail Valley Golf Course

About
Developers eventually had their way with this cow pasture on the fringe of Houston. Loaded with native pecans and oaks and supplemented with even more transplanted trees, the terrain is ideal for golf, with two creeks and five natural lakes on the property. In fact, it's good enough to host the PGA Tour's Houston Open in 1973 and 1974.
The traditional El Dorado Course plays to a par 70 and features five par 3s that go 190-yards-plus from the tips. Jay Riviere designed the back nine.
Jeff Blume managed the redesign and complete renovation of the El Dorado Course in 2009.

Enjoy 6hr rounds?
Then this is the course for you! Enjoy! P.S. If you are also into slow, slow greens without true roll...you will enjoy this course even more.
Overall good course.
Greens were well kept. Fairways were overall well kept. Had a few water jugs and cart person with snacks and drinks came around a few times. Pace of play was not great, I joined three others to make a foursome and we waited most holes. Two holes we were third group at a teebox waiting. Overall the course is nice and staff was great. I would play here again anytime.
A good place to play
Great people..
Great layout...
A nice to play a round or two..
Wicked layout, awesome muni
For a muni, the place is nice. I have 3 munis near me that do not touch the quality of this course!
Pace of play stinks
I have played here many times and enjoy the course setup and conditions. However, my main complaint is with the place of play. They always have at least a couple 5-somes on the course and they never let anyone play through. The place is really slow and frustrating. The marshals do nothing but drive by and wave. Other than that, this course is pretty decent.
beautiful course, bad amenities
I've plaid this course in the winter and now early summer and I have to say the course itself is very nice. Greens were impeccable this time around. That being said, I would treat it like a field trip, bring your own snacks and water. My main complaints were with the layout and frequency of cart girls. the par 3's here will eat your lunch. as far as cart girls, we saw them on hole 1 and hole 17. Only a water cooler and cups at the turn. Will I play here again, probably once the construction is complete.
Picture Perfect
This was my first time playing El Dorado. I had played LaQuinta, which is now in the reconstruction phase. El Dorado is picture perfect! Beautiful fairways and fast greens. I believe it was a PGA Tour course in the 1970s. Lots of water and bunkers, a very challenging course!
Great shape right now
Played yesterday. Course is in the best shape I’ve seen it in a long time. They’ve done a great job. The pro shop is back open and I love it there.
A beautiful course!
We played El Dorado. There are no flaws on this course. There's lots of water and bunkers. The greens are very fast. The course is beautifully manicured and pretty technical.
