La Quinta at Quail Valley Golf Course
About
La Quinta Course, one of the two regulation courses at Quail Valley, is a typical regulation course, slightly more difficult than El Dorado because of the water in play on 10 holes.

18th Eldorado Photo submitted by u000006680707 on 04/19/2022
The young man who checked me in was very friendly even though y’all were short on carts.
Good time with friends
It was a little wet, for some reason the LaQuinta course does not drain as well as the Eldorado. It was cart path only while Eldorado was not which slowed play but overall good time
Golf course should have been closed. All 18 holes were water logged due to poor drainage. Even the cart paths had patches of water. The restrooms need rehabilitation. The greens were okay but the bunkers had hard soil. The entire drainage system needs to be looked into.
Course conditions after a rain.
The LaQuinta side doesn’t drain well at all after rains. Majority of the holes will have puddles of water. They have new ball washers with no water in them and no towel to dry the balls off. No big deal about having no towel to dry the balls, but at least put some water in the washers. The cart paths need to be totally renovated. And bunkers filled with a better choice of sand would be nice. Other than what was mentioned above, it’s a good facility with a lot of potential for greatness. Great course layout, and decent greens!
Great course
I'm starting to play golf and this is my third time playing. This course was more challenging for me but it was great. Nice golf carts with GPS systems and Bluetooth.
Disappointed
I dont normally throw out reviews but this course needs one.
Mr. Clark at checkin was great and very friendly. Range & chipping green were shut down for overseeding no biggie. The range has never been great(mats).
What ticked us off was as we walked up to grab a cart we were scolded heavily by an older gentleman who’s first words to us were”hey what do you think your doing” we told him we had a tee time to which he stated the carts were off limits and i would have to walk over to cart barn to ask for a cart. Walked in and Mr james was nice but upset obviously at something. We got a cart and got to first tee tailed closely by another gentleman saying we couldnt use the cart we were given and we would have to take this ole busted cart. The cart sputtered, rattled, had no windshield(it sprinkled most of the round) and overall needed to he retired. We were then asked to tee off 30 minutes early because they had a tournament that was overbooked and they needed to get people out of the way.
Calming ourselves down we took off on 1 and were met with mediocre course conditions to say the least. The maintenance crew was mowing the fairways and insisted on sitting right in the middle flashing lights at us to hit. The bunkers had more mud then sand on most and the greens had patches where repairs were made that looked horrible.
Overall i wouldnt play the course again anytime soon. To many courses in Houston for the hassle we were dealt and the course shape.
Slow play
Normally pace of play not a problem. But 2 groups in front of us were very slow and playing wrong tees didn’t help. As well as four guys playing with 2 sets of clubs and not knowing course etiquette. Marshals should’ve recognized this and made adjustments. At least they lets us pass them at the turn so we could finish
Too slow,no manners
Course is good, but there was a group of drunks 7 of them acting like they owned the course, they sat for about 20 minutes at the 1st tee box,not caring about other players,no marshall nothing. Course is challenging but they need to keep up with players.
