Golfer Reviews
fun vacation round of golf
I had fun playing Margaritaville Resort Golf Course. It was fun to see the Range markers that were flip flops and all the tee markers were shark fins remaining true to the Margaritaville branding.
I had some difficulty finding hole #3. It required crossing a roadway and driving up an small unmarked alley way.
The course played really difficult (my handicap is 30 so pretty much all courses are difficult). But this one especially so.
It was hot but there were plenty of water stations throughout the course and the restroom I visited was clean and well maintained.
The only thing negative I have to say about the course was the lack of direction for hole #3.
Good from far, far from good
As you drive into the Margaritaville grounds and see some of the holes, the course looks good. You get on the course and realize it’s a dumpster fire. Sand traps full of water, muddy mower tracks on the course, dead spots on the greens, and a cart path full of uneven concrete segments, mud, and water. I’m pretty sure this course has drainage issues as well as everything is always soggy and slow to dry. Plan to lose some balls if you play here as well since the first cut on most of the course is a jungle.
Expect average conditions on a generally fun track
This facility will continue to need to discount green fees as long as the course condition remain substandard. The driving range is in poor condition with long thick St Augustine turf on the tee. There were also range balls all over tenth fairway. The course itself had several poorly managed ground under repair areas (tenth hole, along cart paths on most holes). There were weeds or bald spots on most greens as well. In general the conditions of the course remain consistent with what I've seen here nearly every time I've played here, infrequently, over the past 30 yrs.
Greens rough. One ft off fairway can’t find ball.
The course is terrible first cut off fairways way too long.Spent all day looking for balls not far off fairway.Greens Terrible condition.
Friends
Nice course has some nice challenges. Greens suffered from freeze but other than that enjoyable round. Over charge you for beer :(
Dont listen to other reviews
This course is not where near the bad reviews its getting. Most of the greens are in great shape. There are a few that have bad spots. But not so bad it bothers your round. Fairways are great. Course is challenging. But fun. Staff is awesome.
Dont allow other reviews to keep you away
I read other reviews and almost didn't play here. Here for vacation. So decided to play regardless of the bogus bad reviews. Fairways are in great shape. And most of the greens are also in great shape. There are a few with some burnt spots. But not bad enough to ruin your day. There are working to replace parts of the cart path. But doesn't interfere with your play. Great course. People there are great. Plan to be back tomorrow.
Wet
The course is in as good as shape as you can expect for all the rain we have received in the area. Hopefully it will dry out and they can mow the super wet areas and tend to the bunkers.
Worst Shape Greens Around
Played this course and it was 100% the worst greens around. Sand/Dirt with one patch of basketball size grass on each green but one.
Course Management
Prior to the round understood greens had damage from the freeze. Surprised by lack of care in other areas. Played course prior to new management and it was better maintained
While the golf course is still open for play, we are aware that current conditions are not ideal and this is due to a variety of reasons, including our mid-February historically low temperatures. What we are experiencing is not an isolated situation, and many golf courses throughout Texas are seeing the same challenges in recovering their course conditions.
The resort has an aggressive fertilization and maintenance plan in place to assist in restoring the golf course, in particular the greens, to a much better playing condition. We are optimistic that once temperatures reach a consistent low of 70 degrees, our efforts will take root and our course will once again become an ideal place to play and provide the perfect Margaritaville golf experience that you truly deserve.
Our team appreciates your patience during this time, and looks forward to seeing you here often in the future... and to sunnier days ahead!

The course was in no condition to play do to a storm the day before
We couldn’t play no more than 11 holes because of the conditions. We lost a lot of balls because of the branches and leaves in the fairway
