Great Course for the price point
Fairways were excellent! Greens need work but playable. Stock up on water before heading out !! Was HOT and only two water pit stops on the course.
Best Value in Houston Area
La Torretta is far and away the BEST course you will find in its price bracket. Played here for the first time today. Conditions of an $80 course in the $45-50 range (though I’ve played $80 courses that weren’t as nice). Great water features, beautiful landscaping, greens roll fast but true and just soft enough to hold approaches, long and narrow but fast running fairways, perfectly placed and well maintained bunkers, challenging yet makable forced carries, great pace of play, not overcrowded, clubhouse bathroom/locker rooms fit for a King (and/or Queen I assume, but I didn’t visit that one), friendly staff, great service...I could go on and on. I had an incredible experience at La Torretta today. Unfortunately I live an hour away, but if I lived just a half hour closer, this would undoubtedly be my home course.
Good not great
This was the 2nd time I played this course and overall I enjoyed my round. The greens we in good shape despite and not mushy despite the huge amount of recent rain. The fairways were fine and tee boxes and bunkers looked good. The only part of the course that looked liked it needed some attention was the rough. It looked as if it hasn't been cut in weeks....makes sense because of the rain.
The layout is ok but this course doesn't have any holes that stick out as memorable.
It's a long drive from houston so probably wont be going back anytime soon
La Torretta Golf
Course was wet in the fairway which made it play even longer. Would like to play this course again when it is dryer! Very good course layout just no role today! For the price it is a worthwhile play!
Great course
Course had lots of rain so although looked dry, was cart path only. Last month the fairways and greens were lush. Now they’re taking on fall changes. The greens were great though as were the bunkers. The only problem was slow play from two groups in front of us that we caught up to on hole # 14 and from there we moved at a snail’s pace. No marshall and no cart girl - not unusual for this course though. Overall one of the best values in the Houston - Conroe area.
So I get the weather is changing and the course received a bunch of rain but I was really surprised how the course conditions reflected a course that you'd expect to play maybe later in the fall/winter here in the area. Tee boxes were thin, fairways were really starting to thin out and greens were decent but they need to be punched or something to help with the growth. It's a good value is you find a cheaper tee time on golf now. It's a good layout and challenging course but maybe I caught it at a bad time.
Groups of 5 on the weekend
The course is not in bad shape and the narrow tee shots can be a challenge. My biggest gripe with this or any course is allowing groups of 5, especially on the weekend. No matter how fast you think your five-some plays it is slower than the two-some behind you.
Last minute booking success
Had a guest come to town Friday evening. Started looking around for Saturday AM tee times. Found this course with discount AM fees. Wonderful shape, very friendly staff.
great price good condation
Pretty good condation. People work at pro shop r nice. A lit slow at front 9 bc the ppl at front probaly never played there and not great golfer. So we passed them at number 10. after that we have pretty good speed.
Well worth the money and the drive
It combines the new with the old......the tight with the open......the easy with the difficult......and the more difficult with the "dadgommit, who put that tree there!". For the money, I think this is the best value for SW Texas. The T-boxes are in great shape, the fairways are firm, and for as much play as it gets - the greens are in great shape and roll true. It's a challenging course. Most of the water leaves you alone. If you play in the fairway, it tests your shot making.....if you play out of the pines, it can make for a very difficult day (but that's golf). Seriously tho, only a few holes allow for scramble to GIR so each shot need to be thought out. The staff is tremendously friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere of the pro shop and grille is not snobby and suffocating. The amenities are rather impressive with what all is available. If there is one negative........with the age of this course, how this course is set up, and it's natural tree line - this is not (in my opinion) a beginners course. However - this is a great place to escape the craziness of Houston.
Great course
LaTorretta is a great course, somewhat challenging with tight fairways. Some trees should be trimmed off some fairways. Greens in good shape. Overall value is excellent.
Dhigh
Our cart ran out of gas. Brought another one out to us in a timely manner. No biggie, not upset about it, things happen. But could have at least received and apology. Employee checking us in not overly friendly or very informative knowing this was our first time there. Lady at concession stand was very personable and kind. Great course, great fun, just need a like work on customer service.
Incredibly great conditions considering the drought
This is the best I have seen this course - ever! No mosquitoes and lush greens. Fairways also soft and green. Great job to the greenskeeper and staff.
Good golf-Good course
A nice golf course which makes for a nice day no matter how you play. Made for the everyday hacker or good player. Will play again.
