Course Review
The course was in excellent shape considering all the rain we have received due to hurricane Harvey. My only concern was the amount of balls we lost because of blind tee shots and a ton of leaves all over the course, but it's fall so that's understandable. Spent alot of time looking for balls or the round would've taken >3 hrs.
Green and golden
La Touretta has withstood wild swings in weather and especially dry and hot Texas summers.. I was able to get in front of a weekly tournament and breezed through unscathed in 2 hr 45 minutes. Greens are in great shape and bunkers have all been resanded and are perfect. From my last review. This course is a gem for those who get the Hot Deal. The only drawback was no cart person.
Glad we went Back
Had played this older Resort course in January or February and was a bit rough around the edges but they were doing a lot of work so wanted to give it a another try. Was happy we went back. Wife and I teed off at 930 and were off the course by 1. Was some standing water and bunkers had wet sand but the area had experienced a lot of rain recently so this was expected. Course plays 6500 from the whites and was a test in calm conditions emphasis on drives in order to hit mid rons into the greens. If your not driving 250 yards off the tee suggest you move to the yellow (6600 yds) and enjoy the course instead of punishing yourself with hybrids or fairway woods to the greens. Did not even look at the blues but if you want a more difficult challenge these would bring it in think they were close to 7000 yards. The course is challenging in the fact the most greens are well protected by Bunkers making your approaches key. Not many open throat approaches. Next time I play will choose the yellow and enjoy my round a bit more or at least be able to sue more midirons and not spend as much time in the sand. Would play again. No cart girl on a Sunday morning she may have been out in the afternoon. Greens had been punched 4 weeks ago but really did not effect things. Fairways are lush but definitely undulating so flat lies are a premium. Only complaint but minor was the tee boxes could have been cut a bit lower. I like a very low cut on tee boxes these were about 1/2 and inch. Godo time for a week end and the members were already finishning 9 when we teed off. By the time we finished lots of people teeing up for lower rates in afternoon but for 35 bucks and to avoid afternoon heat with no deleyas it was perfect.
Nice Course
Had a great time. Completed 18 holes in 3 1/2 hours. Interesting design features, especially on some of the par 3's. Well maintained course. The greens and fairways were very nice. Errant shots into the rough can lead to trouble as the rough is pretty thick in spots. Staff was friendly and informative Will definitely return.
Great course for experienced players
The la Loretta golf Club is an older but very challenging golf course. When you first arrive, it is an older looking clubhouse with a very established feel. They have a large putting green and a smaller sized driving range maybe 180 yards. The carts are gas and have a lot of go in them. The fairways are all luscious green and very soft. You start off on a par 5 (450yds) that takes a dogleg left up to a hill on the far side. When you round the bend, it is slightly down hill with bunkers down in front of the green and to the right of the green. The Green is massive with steep hills on every side. The greens are true and they run slow. There is a bunker on every hole, and most are green length with steep edges making for tough shots to the green. It is a very good golf course for someone who plays frequently and is looking for a challenge. I would recommend this course for anyone who is looking to get bang for your buck as far as quality and difficulty go. I really enjoyed playing this course and I hope you do as well.
Fantastic time
I had a great time; the course condition was above-average and the staff friendly.
La Toretta
good greens, very nice personnel at the course -- pretty good challenge for the price
Really tight course that requires accuracy off the tee. Nice mix of sand and water to challenge shots into the green. Excellent course.
Great experience
Course was a little wet, but in very good shape. The staff is great. Very friendly!
Great layout and always fun
Greens are dry around the edges and grass is growing back slowly from top dressing over a month ago. Still they stimped at another 9.5. Bunkers are being renovated for drainage so deemed ground under repair. What they will look like are seen on holes 8,9,17 and 18 - great white and soft sand. Looking forward to when finished. Fairways in great shape for Bermuda. Snack bar offers great and inexpensive food. For a public course, you cannot beat the price offered at GolfNow.
Unexpected
First time out here and did not know what to expect. Got an early tee time, finished in just over 3 hours. No waiting on any holes. Staff was friendly and welcoming. And the layout was fantastic. Great topography, forcing you to think about and execute the shot you want to hit. Look forward to coming back to the course for sure. I was surprised which is hard to do for Houston courses.
Great Value
Great value during mid-week at $35 including cart. The course layout is very nice amongst nice gently rolling hills. The front nine is tight as it is lined with homes, but the back nine is pretty open. The greens had recently been aerated so they were rolling a little wobbly, but should be great in another two weeks. The course is a little under maintained, with very hard tee boxes which also needed mowing, along with the rough. Sand traps were in excellent shape. Overall, it is a good layout in a beautiful setting and a great value.
Very challenging
Good layout with some elevation changes on the back nine; good variety of holes. Has some long par 4s. Greens in good shape but a little slow. We love playing here. Great value.
