What a deal!!!
Got the “Hot Deal of The Day”.
Due to a typo I got the Deal of a Lifetime!
Recent rainy days made the course still very damp. I probably would have still ruled cart path only if it was my decision. Very tight fairways made driving an all day challenge. Greens were very frustrating to read, nothing seemed to break. Plenty of water holes and the bunkers are well maintained.
Played the white tee’s, and I’m glad we did! I’m not a “long ball hitter”, (average 230-260), almost all the par 4’s left me still 200 yards out.
Had a great time overall. Would not recommend playing if your trying to set a personal record. (Smiley Face)
Great layout
Greens were fast firm looks like the sprayed the greens for winter the rest of the grass was dormant,, staff friendly great layout challenging I can’t wait for spring to play Del largo Walden la torretta again. Thanks
The more I play this course, the more I like it
Admittedly, when this course was simply known as Del Lago, I didn't care for it much. But when Jeff Blume did a redesign a few years ago, I gained a new appreciation for the routing and uniqueness of the holes, now that balls don't roll forever on hard pan into the out-of-bounds areas. The improvements included new bunkers and greens complexes, giving the course a much better look overall and making it more playable. What it still is, though, is fairly difficult. Even from the white tees, some of the par fours are fairly long and difficult, water comes into play on at least a third of the holes, and the doglegs make driving difficult. Still, overall, it's a very enjoyable track, with lots of memorable and interesting holes. (My only complaint: the cart paths are terrible, and really need to be redone)
Excellent course in Lake Conroe area
The golf course was simply excellent and great value for the money.
Nice course!
Played with our 12 year old and had a great time. Looking forward to next round. Had to really keep eyes on the ball as leaves are on the course. Thanks!!
Good Course For The Money
Had a Great time Friendly Staff Greens Were Firm but rewarded Good Shots . The Fairways are tight turf but it worked out .
Good Course For Wintet Golf
Worth the drive!
This course is about 45 minutes from North Houston, but I would recommend giving La Torretta a try. Course conditions were above average and the pace of play was excellent for a Wednesday afternoon. Staff were accommodating and helpful. I will play here again.
Condition
Great course, it’s my opinion that it’s the best kept public course within a 20 mile radius of Conroe. At 78 the course is a little long for me, but the great condition of this course makes up for it. I played off the yellow T’s.
Clean fairways
Well kept course. Fairways were clean. Greens in good shape. A little slow but to be expected on a weekend. No beverage cart which is never a good thing during hot summer months.
Great value for a challenging course
The key is the greens and they are rolling very nicely and true. This is a tough course from the whites as many par 4's are over 400.
Course Review
The course was in excellent shape considering all the rain we have received due to hurricane Harvey. My only concern was the amount of balls we lost because of blind tee shots and a ton of leaves all over the course, but it's fall so that's understandable. Spent alot of time looking for balls or the round would've taken >3 hrs.
Green and golden
La Touretta has withstood wild swings in weather and especially dry and hot Texas summers.. I was able to get in front of a weekly tournament and breezed through unscathed in 2 hr 45 minutes. Greens are in great shape and bunkers have all been resanded and are perfect. From my last review. This course is a gem for those who get the Hot Deal. The only drawback was no cart person.
Glad we went Back
Had played this older Resort course in January or February and was a bit rough around the edges but they were doing a lot of work so wanted to give it a another try. Was happy we went back. Wife and I teed off at 930 and were off the course by 1. Was some standing water and bunkers had wet sand but the area had experienced a lot of rain recently so this was expected. Course plays 6500 from the whites and was a test in calm conditions emphasis on drives in order to hit mid rons into the greens. If your not driving 250 yards off the tee suggest you move to the yellow (6600 yds) and enjoy the course instead of punishing yourself with hybrids or fairway woods to the greens. Did not even look at the blues but if you want a more difficult challenge these would bring it in think they were close to 7000 yards. The course is challenging in the fact the most greens are well protected by Bunkers making your approaches key. Not many open throat approaches. Next time I play will choose the yellow and enjoy my round a bit more or at least be able to sue more midirons and not spend as much time in the sand. Would play again. No cart girl on a Sunday morning she may have been out in the afternoon. Greens had been punched 4 weeks ago but really did not effect things. Fairways are lush but definitely undulating so flat lies are a premium. Only complaint but minor was the tee boxes could have been cut a bit lower. I like a very low cut on tee boxes these were about 1/2 and inch. Godo time for a week end and the members were already finishning 9 when we teed off. By the time we finished lots of people teeing up for lower rates in afternoon but for 35 bucks and to avoid afternoon heat with no deleyas it was perfect.
Nice Course
Had a great time. Completed 18 holes in 3 1/2 hours. Interesting design features, especially on some of the par 3's. Well maintained course. The greens and fairways were very nice. Errant shots into the rough can lead to trouble as the rough is pretty thick in spots. Staff was friendly and informative Will definitely return.
Great course for experienced players
The la Loretta golf Club is an older but very challenging golf course. When you first arrive, it is an older looking clubhouse with a very established feel. They have a large putting green and a smaller sized driving range maybe 180 yards. The carts are gas and have a lot of go in them. The fairways are all luscious green and very soft. You start off on a par 5 (450yds) that takes a dogleg left up to a hill on the far side. When you round the bend, it is slightly down hill with bunkers down in front of the green and to the right of the green. The Green is massive with steep hills on every side. The greens are true and they run slow. There is a bunker on every hole, and most are green length with steep edges making for tough shots to the green. It is a very good golf course for someone who plays frequently and is looking for a challenge. I would recommend this course for anyone who is looking to get bang for your buck as far as quality and difficulty go. I really enjoyed playing this course and I hope you do as well.
Fantastic time
I had a great time; the course condition was above-average and the staff friendly.
