Great value - worth the drive
This course will challenge your driving accuracy. Course is challenging but fair. Lots of elevation change. Great fun.
Excelent fairways greens bunkers
Excellent fairways, greens and bunkers. Rough has weeds but playable. Very beautiful scenic views all around from tee box to green. This course has it all for the money. Great value. Worth driving an hour for.
Great Course a bit far from Nashville
I played this course with a buddy on a great price from Golf Now. It has always been in great shape, the burgers are a must, my buddy and I usually bet a burger on the round, looser buys. A great experience, the only draw back is it's located in between Sparta and Smithville, with no easy way to get there faster than an hour and 30 minutes, unless you speed on Hwy 70, which I don't recommend, due to the number of speed traps, between Nashville and there. Great Course
great course for good players
I played from the senior tees. It was my first time so was at the mercy of the sloping landing areas and undulating greens which at times were huge, some with false fronts. Beautiful holes, many outstanding features such as several peninsula greens, one which required an approach over a creek canyon, onto a raised, bolder foundation. Lots of bunkers on fairways and around greens. In short, a great course. Definatly, RiverWatch is on my replay list.
A good Saturday
Course was in great shape. Moderately difficult, biggest difficulty would be some very awkward lies can be found if not in the center of fairway. Some holes are fairly sloped even if you find the center. Keeps you interested in planning your shots, not just blasting it as long as you can.
Not quite as good as it was
I played here 6 or 8 times the first 2-3 years it was open and it was superb. It appears ownership cannot afford to keep it at that level. Greens were spotty and in fairways I was often hitting off of minimal grass and hardpacked soil. Few visible yardage guides. Course is still fun to play and hopefully conditions will improve again.
Make sure you have a bag of balls available
This course is quite challenging to the average golfer. Definitely a mountain course and if off the hole, your ball is probably gone as it drops off on both sides on most holes. Because of this, there are quite a few golfers looking for a ball(s) on every hole and the pace slows down quickly. Even during the week, you are looking a 4+ hour round.
Riverwatch Sparta Tn
I am surprised the course was built in 2000? The course has not progressed as far as I would have thought. The fairways, although green, need a lot of week kill to get the grass to come in better and get thicker. I would not hesitate to pay the course again. Additionally, there was some thought about a "stay and pay" but too has not moved forward.
Wonderful course.. Great Pace of Play
We took advantage of a Noon "Hot Deal" and it was wonderful. As a group of 3 we never ran into anyone, and we never saw the group behind us again after leaving the first fairway. The weather was perfect and the course played very true.
Amazing Course
Riverwatch is a very challenging course with ridiculous elevation changes and rolling fairways. This course makes you truly play golf. It's refreshing to have to hit multiple clubs off the tee box and not just grip and rip a driver. Be prepared to loose many balls if you don't keep it in the fairway consistently. The greens are really firm but will hold a well struck ball. It is also a course you need to play at least once to know how to play it. There are many holes where a well struck ball that appears to be down the middle will end up in trouble or lost. All in all it's a phenomenal course that is really fun and challenging.
Challenge your game
This course is a challenge to many skill levels. The greens are difficult and require good reading ability. The day I played it rained was the only unhappy part of playing the course. Will return and play here again when the weather is better. Wet golfing is not fun.
Best kept secret in middle Tennessee
River Watch has some the best conditioned fairways I have seen anywhere. In middle. TN. This is a gem of a golf course. It was a privilege. to write this review.
Nice out of the way course
This is a nice challenging course a little off the beaten path. Played it in 3 hours as a single on a weekday morning - blue tees. Tees, greens, and most fairways in good shape. Greens were small and not fast. Lots of elevation changes especially on the back 9 - be prepared to hit off of sloping ground frequently. About 4 tee shots I would play differently knowing the hole layouts now - probably wood or long iron instead of driver on the doglegs and #18.
Greens are slow, otherwise the best course in the area
Lots of elevation changes.
Fairways are great shape.
Well maintained.
Just wish the greens were not so slow.
GRASS!!
This course had more quality grass in the fairways and rough than any public course I have played this year! While the greens were somewhat slow, the roll was pretty consistent. Hole 18 is a little squirrely, but all other 17 were well designed. It was a very good experience!
Great Layout
Long and Tight from the back Tees. All kinds of golf shots to play uphill, downhill, ball above and below your feet, elevation changes from the tee boxes . Ball placement is a must . Overall all great course.
greens
Best greens I have played on in a long time. They were like carpet. I tried but couldn't find a ball mark on any of them .they were that nice. Loved the way the ball seemed to sit up like it was on a tee in every fairway. I think that was the Zoysia grass. It was a little ride from Nashville but I will be back every Monday. It was that nice. !!! I have played at the legacy in Springfield, old fort and Indian lakes in murfreesborokings creek and Forrest crossing down south and the Hermitage. I would rather play here
The best in this area
Beautiful course. Challenging but not too intimidating even for the novice. It's a little out of the way but worth the drive.
great layout
First time playing this course. Enjoyed the layout. Challenging course that was in great shape for this time of the year. Very good value as far as price
River watch
Bit of a drive but one the nicer courses in mid state. Well maintained and variety of challenging holes. Must keep ball in fairway which can be a chore for us higher handicappers. Always enjoy this course and the beautiful surroundings.
