Golfer Reviews
Tees, fairways and Greens
I was extremly impressed by the greens and fairways. Some of the tee boxes left a little to be desired. Overall we enjoyed our round. The gals operating the outside food and bev area were very accommodating. We had an overall great day!
Best course for the money
We are from out of town and we come here every year because we love this score so much. It’s in great condition, very reasonably priced and the layout is interesting.
We always make sure we play this course when we come back every year.
Fantastic
What could be any better than playing on an absolutely great course surrounded by bunch of friendly people ! Never disappoints and I want to go back every time when I finish 😁
Will play again
I will play here again. Went off as a twosome with my dad at 8:15am. Played fast. No issues at all.
Super fun layout. Visually interesting and fun to play. Course knowledge would help a little bit because there are some blind shots.
Greens were in great shape but expect them to bounce a little on approach shots. Fairways and rough were also good. At least half, if not a little more, of the tee boxes were not in the best condition. I don’t really care about that so it doesn’t matter. Just an observation.
Paid just under 80$ for a weekday morning and that felt a little steep so the value isn’t quite where I want it. It would be great around 60-65$. Would I play here again? Absolutely yes. It’s a hidden gem.
Slow pace
Was here on the weekend and on a weekday. Each time the pace was slower than expected.
Gem
Fantastic fairways, a fun yet challenging design that makes you think about your club choices, and solid greens with little damage. The staff was very welcoming and friendly.
Great Time at the Course
My golf buddies and I had a great time. The course was in awesome shape, and the service was terrific. We couldn’t have had a more enjoyable experience. The pace was very nice as well.
Beautiful and challenging
First time playing at Loggers Trail. Very pretty track. A lot of holes are lined with 15-20 foot tall steep hills. Do not hit on or near them into the rough. Very dense and tall grass hard to hit out of. Some blind holes that require accurate club choices and some holes that dare you to hit driver over the dogleg. A great course that I will be back to soon.
Grounds in rough shape
Played this course many times over the past 5+years. Great layout but course in worst shape I've seen. Tee boxes destroyed, fairways plenty of pivots not being replaced by players or crew. I see some ground work done surrounding the course but focus on the playing surfaces to better the quality of experience. Don't need fancy clubhouse, invest in making the track enjoyable
Top 20 course in the MSP area
One of those courses I’d consider a top 15-20 in the area…..there’s nicer courses in the greater metropolitan area but if someone wants to play the best public 20 Golf courses in MSP LOGGERS is on the list
Still early
Weather need to be helpful for the greens and fairway to grow
If I lived in the St. Paul area I would play Logger's Trail 10+ times a year. The course was in fantastic condition (though an employee told me "it's okay now... it'll be perfect in a few weeks"). The holes provide a great variety of challenges and range from very penal to very forgivable and scorable. My wife rode along with for this round, but in the future I would absolutely walk this course.
PACE: Thank you to the 4some that let the single play through. The course moved very well.
CONDITIONS: Again, I was told it was okay. I though it was great. The greens rolled smooth and true..
STAFF: Friendly and got me out on the course.
VALUE: I thought this course was very fairly priced for the quality and conditions.
LAYOUT: You see what this course offers from the first tee box, where you have a short par 4 that doesn't need driver, but sure tempts you to. There are some holes that are tight and penal, and some holes that are so wide I don't think you could lose a ball if you wanted. Hole #17 is formerly a par 3 converted to a par 4... and what a great call to do so.
This course will absolutely be on my "must play list" anytime in/around St. Paul.
Always a treat!
I generally play Logger's Trail 3 - 4 times a season. Conditions are consistently good, throughout the playing season. Although we wish they would build a new clubhouse, it is great that they are sinking money into course improvements. The staff is friendly and helpful, and many have been there for years. The Pro, Tim, is a super nice guy. This course is very walkable. Pace of play is good and I have never seen a marshal on the course, which speaks to the knowledge and skills of the patrons.
