Very good but not quite great
Really good course. Great lay-out, wonderful variety of holes, visually an appealing course, difficult but fair. Would include this as a top 10 course in greater Minneapolis but not top 5.
Pace of play however was abysmal during my round. Foursomes were breaking off into twosomes, singles ungrouped, extensive wait times over every shot; the landscape looked more like an outdoor festival than a golf course with all the people seemingly just hanging out.
You need to have a junior rate for players 14 and under, or whatever.
Hidden Gem
I loved the course. The pace of play was excellent. Very Challenging, keep it in the fairway. The tee boxes can be confusing but all in all. I'll be back!
Loggers is in Good Shape
Played on 06/22 and the course was in good shape. Greens were probably rolling at about a 10 even though it had been too hot for a mow for several days.
I gave 4 stars on course condition because a few of the championship tee boxes were in rough shape - not usable on hole 4. Otherwise, typical public course issues like many unrepaired pitch marks (again, greens were still great).
It was very fast, got through 18 holes in just under 4hrs.
Great course for the money.
The golf course is in great shape. Greens are fast and firm and very tricky to putt on. I would play here again in a heartbeat. Great value course and challenging.
Improving All The Time
Longtime Sawmill/Loggers golf customer. Loggers continues to make improvements and enhancements. Enjoyable, very fair layout, well taken care of. Staff workforce has improved a lot. Good people.
Fun Course
Haven’t played here since Covid, and forgot what a fun course they have. Grounds were beautiful and Rangers were helpful and friendly.
I’ll be back again soon!
Course Additions and renovations
The many projects they have works on are coming to fruition and it is a fabulous look. Looking forward to watching it mature this summer
Terrific Course & Terrific People
This out-of-state visitor found the course in fine, April shape, very enjoyable to walk. Breeze is a significant factor on this mostly links-style track!
Staff and fellow golfers were quite friendly, and I thank them for their hospitality.
Fun Layout! Long Rounds
Love the course layout especially the back 9. Was waiting on every hole, they book their tee times too close to each other! New range balls, fun island green on the range for target practice. Place could use a new club house. Recent renovations should make the course nicer within the next year. Would probably only play the back 9 and make sure the course isn’t busy next time.
Great Track - The Devils Elbow
There’s a lot that other courses can learn from Loggers Trail. This has been one of my favorite courses in the cities for awhile now and it demands all the respect. They set it up the way you want a golf course setup. Conditions are always great, pace of play is much better compared to other courses, and from hole 1 to 18 you get a ton of unique holes.
We’ve named the stretch from holes 5-7 the devils elbow. It really starts at hole 4, but it’s a gauntlet where you can easily come with a birdie or two, or pickup a few doubles and triples.
