Loggers Trail worth the drive!
First time at Loggers Trail. The weather was wet and windy, but the staff and course were warm and welcoming! We were impressed by the course condition, pace of play, and lay out. We talked about it on the back nine and we will definitely make the hour and twenty minute drive to play it again. This course is recommended for anyone, and particularly the golfer that prefers money be spent on the course instead of the club house!
Best Kept Secret
A beautiful course with a nice mix of challenging and some open holes. Love the practice facilities which include a driving range, putting greens, chipping greens and sand traps.
greens very good shape
i also liked the three practice greens and chipping area with sand trap
Fall golf, no problem
We thought we'd try a links design course to minimize the leaves, too many courses just can't keep their fairways and greens clear in the fall and I've lost balls even with a drive right down the middle. Too our surprise leaves weren't just scarce, they were nonexistent, unless you put it in the woods or on one of the berms (Yes, I did both) . It wasn't just the absence of leaves, every aspect of the course was in great shape. Tee boxes were good for this late in the season. Fairways and greens were green, no dryed out or dead spots to be seen. And the regulars here must actually practice golf etiquette as ball marks on the greens were almost as few as the leaves. Great course!
Perfect weather and a course in superb condition!
What a pleasure it is to play in the fall on greens that have not been aerated! I've played here several times now and have always enjoyed the experience. I have always found the staff friendly and efficient and the course in excellent shape.
I hope to get at least another couple of rounds in at Logger's Trail before heading south for the winter.
Great Course
Very nice course. Greens were very fast but true. Liked the difference between front 9 and back nine. 4 is a really special hole
Only concern I had was there was a fivesome holding up play. There were 4 different groups on hole 2. I ended up skipping this hole and then pace was better. Not sure if I would have finished before dark if I didn't skip the hole
Staff Treats Golf Now Hot Deal Buyers Badly
Bought a Hot Deal, showed up at course hour early to warm up and practice putt. Was told there was a shot gun tournament and they didn't know if they had enough carts. Kept referring to 'Golf Now' buyers as if we are an underclass. Even the cart boy made a face when he said 'Golf Now'. Obviously they over booked the course and it was distasteful to them to service me. I finally just left. If they don't want Golf Now buyers playing their course they should just quit the service.
Great golfers course
Great layout and conditions. Friendly staff. Good value. Love playing this course
Thank for the kind reviews. You touched on a few things are really trying to achieve.
Great course for someone who has played here before!!!
The course was in great condition and for the price I paid thru GolfNow it was unbeatable. My only issue was the course layout from the black tees. Many tee shots were blind and it was a struggle to find the tee boxes. Besides that the greens putted like Augusta and were very true. I would play again for the price but there wasn't anything else that made me have to come back. Great staff with very friendly associates. Wish them the best of luck!!!
Thanks for the kind words Austin. We appreciate you coming out and hope to see you again.
Fast greens
Course was in great shape u better hit ur shot short of the green and let ur ball rolling up to the green if u flag hunt the course will kill u ... Very fast and firm greens
Thank you for the kind review. We appreciate hearing your opinion.
like to play this course
The pace was a little slow but was a Saturday when everyone wants to play. a little out of town but mostly freeway so not so bad of a drive. hamburgers and brats on the turn cooked on grill outside.
Thanks for the kind words. We had 220+ golfers, and we were working our tails off to keep it close to 4 hours. I hope you will consider coming back. Thank you for your review.
Great course year round.
Great fall course and no leaves. Greens in great shape and not being plugged.
That's exactly what we think! Thank you for the kind review.
Great course
Challenging and very well maintained course. Staff super helpful and friendly. Very private and secluded course. Will definitely be playing again very soon!
Thank you for the kind words. We really only have 1 house on the course and that is virtually unhittable.
Mixed emotions
Played the course for the first time. GREAT staff, very welcoming. Wish the course had better signage to find it, w/o having to use mapquest. Wasn't impressed w the clubhouse, but it had everything you need, especially 6 beers for $20, good start, ha ha. Just thought it would be bigger. I liked the idea of having practice putting greens near holes #1 & #10. Being a 1st timer, I sure wished they could've had GPS, as to see or know the shape/direction of the "blind" shot holes. As far as the course itself, if it hasn't been said already, the course was what, I feel, most golfers want to play on. Nice tee boxes, well maintained fairways and challenging greens. The maintenance crew should get an Atta Boy for the course !! Do wish there were more sand traps and water, but that's a preference. And I wish the par 5's were a little longer, but again, very minor preferences. For SURE will be playing more rounds in the future !!
Thank you for the kind words. We wish there was more signage as well. The county is restrictive as to the number of signs on the actual road.
Great course
One of my favorite courses in the twin cities. Challenging layout and nice pace on the greens.
Thank you so much for the kind words.
Thank you
Great Course
I play league here and also play other times as well. Course is always in great shape and the staff takes time to get to know you and treats you as a friend, not just another golfer.
Thank you for the kind words about our staff.
Best non private course around
For your money this is the best public course around! This course easily rivals Bobby's Legacy and Dutches Classic in Brainerd. Course is in immaculate condition and is a solid challenge. 2 for 1's after your round! They got it figured out.
Thank you for the kind words. We really appreciate it.
Great course!!
I love loggers trail in Stillwater
The staff is super friendly!
The course is always on great shape, love the way the greens roll
The fairways always perfectly manicured
Plays in good pace!
The layout is awesome!!!
Definatley my favorite course in Minnesota!!!
I play there every week and never ever get sick of the course!!
Wow, thank you so much. We really appreciate hearing that.
THIS REVIEW IS a 100% Fabrication and Inaccurate.
All businesses and industry's are subject to reviews. We are no different. We do appreciate all reviews good and bad. Often times it's the bad ones that help us get better. However with the reviews and the anonymous nature of the reviews we are subject to complete and utter fabrications. Let's break down -Max7246564 or Mr. Otto as we will call him.
He said, "Bought a hot deal, showed up at course hour early to warm up and practice putt."
FACT - He purchased the 1:48 tee time because it was cheaper, and showed up at 11:00 hoping he could go out early, with the same cheaper rate. (We see this often, and can often times accommodate this, when we aren't busy.)
He said, "Was told there was a shotgun tournament and they didn't know if they had enough carts."
FACT - We had a shotgun tournament for our league off of the backside, and we had more than enough carts.
He said, - "Kept referring to 'Golf Now' buyers as if we are underclass
FACT - Close to 85% of our customers book through golf now, so I'm not sure we would treat 85% of our customers as underclass.
He said, "Even the cart boy made a face when he said, Golf Now.
FACT - We don't have a cart boy
He said,, "Obviously they over booked the course it was distasteful to them to service me.
FACT - We didn't over book the course, that is next to impossible to do, as we are only allowed four golfers per tee time.
He said, "He finally just left"
FACT - He threw a temper tantrum, and told me how $30 isn't even a factor in his life so he didn't care about the money.
The bottom line is this Mr. Otto. You showed up two hours early looking to sneak out. Surprisingly to you, 143 other golfers had chosen to take advantage of the mid 80's temperatures in September. You REFUSED to ride or even play with the two-some and single you were paired up with. You mentioned that you hadn't played golf in four years and didn't want to play with anyone. You then said, you wish you had known it was going to take 6 hours. I'll be happy to let you know that the group you abandoned in fact took 4 hours and 6 minutes to play. When I offered to give you your money back, you scoffed at that notion and explained to me that $30 wasn't even something you cared about. Well in hindsight after this review, I don't think that is accurate.
The bottom line is this Mr. Otto. We certainly have our faults, and I'm sure we have been deserved of a 1 star review in the past. But not this time. You have completely fabricated a story to better serve your agenda. We had your tee time, we had a cart for your and YOU REFUSED TO PLAY. Where in that process are we deserved of a 1 star review? I hope in your line of work you aren't susceptible to "customers" like you who go out of their way to tear down the hard work by many, because we didn't shut the course down and part the seas. If you want to play on your own and tee off two hours early, I suggest making a tee time in January or February.
