Loggers Needs to Clean-Up Course Details
I understand there is a complete overhaul of the club house but the water along and 9 and 18 has been dry or exposed for 3 years. Feels cheap. Too much black plastic exposed. Practice green is well, not really a practice green. Needs to up it's commitment to the 'extra' care good courses provide.
Sucked
I will just say that this is the first ever golf course that I have walked off of.
My name is Tim Matsche, the course manager. I'd love to hear about your problem, this is obviously not what I want to hear. Feel free to post it here, or email me at tmatsche@loggerstrail.com
Fast Play, Friendly and helpful staff
I have always liked this course and we in excellent playing conditions. The Blue Tees at 6500 yards offered a good challenge.
Thanks for playing
Staff member was extremely rude
Been to this course a few times now and the times I've gone the same staff member was extremely rude. The first time we got rained out on the fourth hole, which took us about an hour to complete the 4 holes due to the on and off rain. Immediately was questioned by the staff member about why it took us so long to complete 4 holes. So then when it came to getting a rain check he came back with the response of "you need to figure that out with golfnow, not me." Which is a first when using golfnow and getting a rain check. Seems a little weird to me.
I'm sorry you weren't treated great by a staff member. That person is no longer with us. Aside from that the rainchecks can be a little confusing even for us. Depending upon which type of golf now time you book, the "fire" deals do require you to go through golf now, along with a handful of others. Obviously this would have been easy to explain to you in a much nicer way. Sorry you had to deal with a staff member who ruined your day.
Loggers Trail
I actually loved this course even though it was raining pretty hard for most of the 18 we played. It was interesting, and narrow with alot of natural beauty. It was easy to walk and the greens were fast even though they were covered with puddles!
Great course for the money!
First time there, found the course challenging but fun. Rate of play was good, 3.5 hour round
Thanks for playing
didn't feel wanted
as you walk in the guy in the proshop didn't seem to like that we booked out tee time through golf now. told us we had to have 3 per cart and that they were booked solid so we couldn't get out early. Went to the starter and he said we could go right now and there was no one behind us.The beer cart girl seemed like we we being an inconvenience to her and her cell phone use. Tip reflected her attitude! Course was nice but if you want to feel like your appreciated for spending your money at a course go to White Eagle in Hudson WI.
Appreciate your feedback, obviously that's the worst possible review I can read. So we've taken steps to upgrade and demand more out of all of our staff. I have no great excuse, we just failed you. I hope you'll give us a second chance, and we can prove you wrong.
I had the same rude worker deal with us multiple times and it's the same result every time. I gave them multiple chances to change my mind about how I feel about the course and the same guy has ruined their chances of getting my business as well as the people I go golfing with.
Loggers Trail
Enjoyed the course very nice condition.
Would gladly golf again there.
Logger's Trail
The more I play this course the better I like it. Maybe that's because I'm learning how to avoid the trouble and take advantage of the holes that you can score on. Course is in good shape and will test anyone.
Thank you for playing, make sure to get your free frequent player card.
Good Value - SLOW Round
Made my reservation for 12:45 pm on a holiday weekend hoping that perhaps pace of play would not be an issue. Wrong. When we arrived at the 2nd tee, (par 5), there we 4 groups on that hole, mixture of 3'somes and 4'somes. How can that be? Continues to confound me at area golf courses why the Rangers are afraid to do their job and tell people that they need to pick up the pace of play.
As it turns out, one of the issues is that hole 3 is a par 3. Why doesn't this course put up a sign to have people who reach the green "wave the next group on".
Most rounds I have played at this course have been fairly quick (even at the 3pm twilight). Usually around 4 hours or just under. Today, I teed off at 7:30am, thinking it would be a quick round. Not the case. The group two groups in front of us were extremely slow. There was a five hole gap in front of them with at least 6 groups (from only what I could see) bunched up behind them. The course ranger this morning was absolutely terrible. We told him where to slow down was and he continued to stay and harass our group and said we take too long to hit. Although, we were waiting on every shot. I think he just didn't like that we were playing the blue tees instead of the whites. The group behind us continued to hit into us (on the par 4 14th, the group hit over the green while we were still on the green - without yelling fore). We told the ranger to have them back off. The next hole, the guy behind us hit the ball a few feet from me as I was walking off the green (once again, fore was not yelled). The ranger was right there and saw it! I pointed it out to him and his response to me is that he didn't like how I "didn't fix my divot" from the fairway (even though the replacement was no-existent because the grass blew up into pieces and they don't put sand/see in the carts to put down). I can't believe the ranger would think that replacing a divot that didn't have anything to replace it with was more important than golfers not getting pelted with an incoming golf ball on the green from the group behind. Not to mention, doing nothing to help the pace of play with the slow group in front of us. UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!
Anyway, rant is over. I do like this course and it is in great shape. However, today was probably the single worst golf experience I've ever had (and it wasn't my play - I still pulled off a 79). Will likely be back because of the course itself, but this one left a sour taste.
plays long when wet
We played from the tips after a couple inches of rain and it felt like about 7500 yards. also walked due to no cart policy and I recommend riding this course due to distance between greens and tees. greens were surprisingly dry considering the volume of rain we just had. Greens were slow but they were not able to cut them that morning due to rain. This is one of my local go to courses because it is fairly long from the back tees. a couple wonky holes on the back nine but otherwise fun and challenging. smooth and medium fast greens.
Topdressing greens-should it be a secret at booking?
Good course which I have played may times. On this particular day they had top dressed all the greens. I wish courses would tell you this before booking. Or they should give a reduced rate due to the conditions for the day.
Still good value
Greens were up to Loggers standards. Fairways were in very good shape. Played in last afternoon and bugs were not bad!!
Logger's Trail - Bored Staff, great course
This hidden gem is reasonably priced, no frills clubhouse, working carts with no cart amenities, friendly beverage cart service, but the clubhouse staff and ranger were pretty business like and seemed bored.
Course conditions were really great for the money.
Solid Course
I enjoyed my first time out at Logger's Trail. Its a nice course that's in the metro area that's easy to get to. It's design is reasonably challenging and is in good shape. I will definitely be back. I had already played another round in the morning, comparing the two I like Logger's Trail better.
Great condition
Course was in near perfect condition. A few more blind shots than most courses, but a fair and challenging golf course. A higher end public track at a decent price. Not quite Stoneridge, but not far off.
Stay in the fairway
tall grass surrounds fairways... Gonna be a long day if your not hitting them straight.
Good Course
Nice course in good condition that is worth playing at a discount. Facilities are pretty sparse.
Thank you for coming out, sorry we didn't live up to your standards that day. It's a constant battle trying to balance the water level in that pond along 9. That is sometimes too high, and sometimes to low. I will bring that to the attention of the superintendent. The practice green has always been a "temporary" practice green like the clubhouse. Last fall we built and seeded a new practice facility with two USGA spec greens, and hope that they will be in use later this season, but 2016 for sure. The 18 Creek again was supposed to be a "temporary" problem, but it's not going on 12 years. We had a meeting with XCEL energy last week, and they will be bringing the power over that we'll need for the new clubhouse, along with the pump that we need to provide water to the 18th creek. Thanks for playing, and we hope your next trip is better.
