2016 July Greens in Bad Condition
We love playing here the course is challenging and has an amazing layout. Scenery and views are really cool. Wildlife abounds we saw deer and red tailed foxes that seemed almost tame. Everything was great except the greens. I think too much rain during the summer, and we have had 20" , has jacked the greens up terribly. Some are almost unputtable. Im sure in time the crew will have them lookin good again , its gonna be awhile though. The only other issue is the giant hornets that burrow into some of the greens. Yes hornets. Idk if they will sting or not but at 1" long + they scare the daylights out of the insect fearful golfer lol . Staff needs find a way to killem all , it is disturbing .
Summer Heat
This was the second time I have played this course this year. Overall the course is in good shape. The greens are not as good as they were in the spring. It looks like they have had trouble with the heat. There are some bad spots, and they are a little slow and bumpy. Last week our family played Boots Randolph it was also in good shape and the greens were faster and in better shape.
Course is great
Best layout in the southern Indiana western Kentucky area. Found a great deal on golfnow. Flush fairways. Greens were a little slow and had some issues with ground hornets. But they won't bother you unless you disturb them Great scenery with lake Barkley Course is challenging with narrow fairways and multiple doglegs but was well worth playing
Gotta love this course!
Hadn't played here in a couple of years, diffenently everything I remembered. Course is in excellent shape from tees to fairways to greens. Lots of excitement here! Great wildlife, and views. Lots of elevation changes. Some water hazards. Some doglegs. Undulated greens. In a super area for golf, and recreation. On the lake, so bring your camera for some memorable pictures and have fun.
Great Course
Although I don't play here often because its an hour away from Clarksville, it is STILL my favorite course since moving here from Cincinnati a year ago. I have played this course about 5-6 times in that year and have always found it in good condition with really good pace of play. There are many times you feel like the only one on the course.
Great course
Course is in good shape. Layout is spectacular. Only complaint is that the bunkers are in rough shape with large rocks in them. It's a challenging course that is a great getaway and had incredible views. Best state park course in KY.
Memorable Play!
Many "Signature Holes" on this course that will stick with you! Tees and Fairways were great, greens a little spotty and recovering from aeration, bunkers neglected, very scenic holes!
This is Golf
The weather, the price, the courteous staff, the course conditions, the beautiful scenes of the lake! This is what GOLF is supposed to be like. (my score was ok).
Best around
Absolute nicest course in the west KY and it's not even close. Every hole is secluded and we never saw another golfer while playing
Always great views
The hour and a half drive from Evansville was worth it. The course was in good shape and always challenging.
great fairways horrible greens
Great course layout, beautiful fairways, excellent rough and manicured tee boxes. Unfortunately their greens were the worst I've played on this year. Several greens were completely lost of grass and resembled packed mud. Bunkers were all mainly washed out. It will take a good report on the condition of the greens for me to return. NOT recommended at this time.
Mineral Mound
wonderful views, very friendly staff, greens were a little rough but it's been a very hot dry summer. Easily the best course in western Kentucky.
Excellant Course Great Value
Disregarding the 4 jerks playing in front of us which turned a 4 hr round into 5hrs it was an enjoyable round of golf. The course was in excellent shape and demands many well placed shots to score well. The course staff should be commended for their good work.
awesome course
everything in great shape but bunkers needed some attention, very tight, I would suggest playing woods as a hazard even though there not marked as such
Wow!
got the hot deal for $10. They didn't give me any flack as was mentioned in another review so I bought a hat in the clubhouse just to give the course some money.
There was only about 10 cars on the lot during a beautiful day so taking my time I made it around in about 3.5 hours. Tees, fairways and greens all excellent. The view from some of the tees were more daunting than the actual shot required. A few holes had severe doglegs but overall a very good layout. If you're in the area this is a must play.
Punished for saving money!
The course is very challenging , but unique and fun to play. Beautiful scenery , so be sure to take a camera. Only problem I had was staff treating us like a criminal for booking with golfnow. I understand the course doesn't receive payment for the hot deals from golfnow, but the management shouldn't treat you differently! Don't have this problem with other area courses. Just pay the full price at this course so you don't feel like you stole something .
My favorite area course!
This is a beautiful course with front nine carved through the forest and the back nine with views of Lake Barkley with several carries over lake bays. The staff here must work very hard to keep this course in such good condition. This has become the only western Kentucky State Park course I will travel to play. Unfortunately Kentucky state legislators do not care to take advantage of their state park golf courses to draw in out of state tourists or to encourage their own citizens to spend money in their home state.
Mineral Mound
Excellent layout. Greens were fantastic, and VERY fast. Fairway grass going dormant this time of year but fairways were terrific. Nice scenery,.probably beautiful in early fall.
Moderate difficulty,..must "manage" the course.
Great experience.
Excellent Course
I played this course about 15 years ago when I first picked up the game, and didn't really know what I was doing... After playing in Dallas (where I bow live) for the past few years, I didn't know what I'd be getting here other than a quick, cheap round.... And I was blown away. The course is beautiful and very challenging. While it's around 6,200 yds from the tips, it plays much longer. Definitely a shot makers course that rewards accuracy. I plan on playing everytime I am back in the area.
One note: I played as a single, and the course had some congestion... Bring a partner or foursome, and enjoy the views!
