Ridgeview Ranch Golf Club
About
Ridgeview Ranch is a Jeff Brauer design that opened in 1997. It’s friendly to the average golfer because there are rarely forced carries of water or sand to reach the large greens, making short approaches good candidates for easy ups and downs.
The design rolls through hills and trees, incorporating two creeks that come into play. The fairways are average-sized and flat, although there are a few surprising elevation changes for this flat part of north Texas. The course rolls through a housing addition and some of the holes are very tight.
Nos. 7 and 11 stand out in particular. The 7th goes 161 yards over White Rock Creek to a sloping green. No. 11 is tough because is plays well over 400 yards uphill into the prevailing wind.
Other notes: Carts are mandatory on weekends before 2 p.m. The cemetery next to the No. 3 green has graves dating back to 1800 and a historical marker to commemorate the settlers commissioned by Stephen F. Austin.
Getting there : From Dallas, travel north on the Tollway and exit Spring Creek. Turn right and drive 5 miles to Independence. Turn left and drive north to Ridge View Dr., then take a right and the course is on the left.

10th fairway. Par 5. Nice hole. Photo submitted by Sam Sherstad on 06/07/2016
EVERYTHING WAS GOOD.
Specially the green and fairway has become better now than before.
Greens are TERRIBLE
The grass on the greens are just unacceptable right now for putting and scoring conditions. Everything else is fine, it’s a solid course but until the greens have grass everywhere, it’s not worth the money vs other courses locally.
Greens are POOR
For 60 bucks you would expect the course to be in better shape. The greens are horrible. Barely any grass on most of them. They are like sandy dirt.
Ridgeview Ranch 5/4/2026
I like the course layout and that they have tees for all different players, however the condition of the greens is what makes the difference. These greens are attrocious and need a lot of help to to get back to sub-par. I won't go back until they fix the greens.
Fix your greens
Played 18. Great weather. The front 9 greens were absolutely horrendous. No chance putting. The back 9 greens were not that bad tbh.
Course has been neglected
Not sure if there is a superintendent. Course is almost unplayable
Greens fee
Greens need work. Looks like maybe seeding had been done. Challenging holes. Nice place to play
Getting worse
Last time, the pace of play was horrible and haven’t played this course for a while. I just gave another shot but even the green conditions got much worse with almost no grass and the pace of play is still bad with almost 5 hours to finish. Won’t go back.
Love the layout and staff, greens need a lot of work
Ridgeview could be so good but there are muni courses in Richardson, Garland and Dallas that are way cheaper with way better greens and fairways. I'm sure Ridgeview is trying but whatever they are doing isn't working. I would gladly play here on the regular for half the price but until I see the reviews come in that they greens are in good shape, I am going to avoid for now. If you are a walker like me, there is no discount, not even $5 for sparing their carts from the wear and tear or a free draft beer but that's up to them.
Nice Fairways, Greens Need Work
Course is in pretty decent shape overall minus the greens. You can tell they recently scalped greens, sanded, and laid grass seed and are actively working to revive them, but 14 out of 18 greens are in rough shape. With time, could be a great track.
Disappointing is an Understatement
I have played the Ridgeview Ranch course many times over the years. There were some tough years and there were some good years primarily driven by the weather. After years of having crappy golf courts that almost broke your spine, they finally got new ones almost a year ago. They are extremely poorly maintained. Every time I get in one I stick to something. I don’t know what the golf cart personnel are doing, but they certainly aren’t cleaning these carts.
To say, I was disappointed after some nice rain earlier in the week is a huge understatement. The greens are so inconsistent and most of them barely contain any sort of grass whatsoever.
About the only good thing I can say about Ridgeview Ranch Golf Club is that the fairways are generally in good shape. What keeps me playing there is the staff who are great to work, friendly, and always helpful.
I had heard through several fellow golfers that the course ownership decided they did not want to spend the money to seed the greens early this season even though we had a very mild winter. That’s too bad because that is the main problem with this course. And the fact that they’ve raised rates instead of lowering them due to course conditions is a crime to say the least.
While I realize costs are rising everywhere and everyone wants to make more money when they can, this is the worst value for the Golf dollar I’ve spent in the past five years. It’s gonna be hard for me to go back there unless there just isn’t any other place to play. I do love golf.
What happened
Used to be a great course. Now it’s in terrible shape and the staff aren’t the nicest. Facilities are run down.
Bad shape
Overall course in bad shape fairways dead and patchy. The greens with the exception of a couple of holes are lousy shape. Pace of play awful teed off at 12:30 did finish until 5:30 no marshals on the course at all. Not worth the price
Greens dead
Greens were lost and just muddy. Not worth the price
Not even Greens
The course conditions and especially the Greens were horrible!! This used to be one of the best around. Now one of the worst we’ve played in a year. Sad! The price 83.00 total is beyond ridiculous.
RR
Greens were in terrible shape, there’s absolutely Zero water bottles on the course. Pace of play for Sunday afternoon was 5 hours, group behind us didn’t wait.
Poor pace of play and poor greens
$70 for a round, but wouldn’t have paid $40.
Waited 20 minutes for a cart
Greens were terrible. They were dead despite no recent freezes and plenty of rain. They were bumpy and covered with sandy fertilizer.
Fairways had dead and muddy patches.
The pace of play was incredibly slow and at one point 4 groups were piled up, with the groups in front of us blaming the groups in front of them. Where was the marshal!? For $70 I would expect a marshal to keep pace.
Do yourself a favor and play Pecan Hollow. Better price and much better quality. Left very dissapointed.
Not worth the money
All the greens are in bad shape with no grass. Place of play is anywhere from 5-6 hours. No Marshall. Not worth the $70.
Thanks for the stellar review!
