About
Ridgeview Ranch is a Jeff Brauer design that opened in 1997. It’s friendly to the average golfer because there are rarely forced carries of water or sand to reach the large greens, making short approaches good candidates for easy ups and downs.
The design rolls through hills and trees, incorporating two creeks that come into play. The fairways are average-sized and flat, although there are a few surprising elevation changes for this flat part of north Texas. The course rolls through a housing addition and some of the holes are very tight.
Nos. 7 and 11 stand out in particular. The 7th goes 161 yards over White Rock Creek to a sloping green. No. 11 is tough because is plays well over 400 yards uphill into the prevailing wind.
Other notes: Carts are mandatory on weekends before 2 p.m. The cemetery next to the No. 3 green has graves dating back to 1800 and a historical marker to commemorate the settlers commissioned by Stephen F. Austin.
Getting there : From Dallas, travel north on the Tollway and exit Spring Creek. Turn right and drive 5 miles to Independence. Turn left and drive north to Ridge View Dr., then take a right and the course is on the left.

Greens are coming back!
If you have played this before, you know they had challenges with Poana but the staff have done a great job of getting the greens in pretty goof shape. Some bare spots in the fairway that they should rope off as they water but can't complain too much . Dallis grass shoots up this year but what are you going to do? Staff is always nice and courteous.

Water Please!
A Texas golf course that has no water on the course! Ridiculous.
Overall Course needs work. Used to be well maintained and one of the better courses in the area.

Greens need a LOT of work
Course in OK shape generally but the greens were rough. Close to the pin, not too bad but around the edges and in other areas they were really bad often with no grass at all.

Worse $72 spent on Golf
Greens were shot. Fairways hard pan.
No marshal pace was horrible at the turn we arrived to see a group teeing off next group waiting and we just arrived. From that point on it was ten to 15 minutes between shots.
Temp was close 100 no water any where on the course.
The staff inside was pleasant and friendly but that was the only positive about this course.

Back 9 had 4 separate groups on each hole. We waited on every shot and on tee box as much as ten minutes

Don’t bother
Tee boxes sans fairways are in great shape. The greens are not. They are in terrible shape very little actual grass. Really sad to see this course going down

Poor course conditions
Several greens need to be fixed and/or replaced completely. Not one single water cooler on the course.

It was fine.
It was a good round nice enough course. Nothing mind-blowing or super remarkable. The greens were in rough shape, but they told me that upfront and it was clear they have been working on them and trying to get them back. I will play here again.

Not bad for mid-June
Have played this course 3 different times from March to now. As of this last round, the course was in the overall better condition. We’ve had alot of rain, so the fairways and tee boxes were all in great shape. There are a lot of reviews here about the greens and whatever disease they have going on with them. There are still probably 6-8 total that are in rough shape, not perfect, but in general, I’d rather play these vs greens that have been punched/sanded on another course. As of 6/17 these were not punched.

Greens need work
I’ve played here many times and I’ve never seen the greens in this bad of shape. They should give you a warning on GolfNow or reduce the rates until they are in good shape again. When I say they are in bad shape, they are a 1 on a scale of 10 to 1. Some are worse than others, but altogether pretty bad.

Do not play this course
I want to pass my condolences to Ridgeview Ranch. Obviously the superintendent passed away about 90 days ago. I wish them luck with the motor cross tournament in the near future. The greens are 50 shades of green
With out a doubt the worse course in north Texas by far. It is an embarrassment of a golf course. There are weeds bigger than anything in my yard on the green

Not Worth the Money (Right Now)
The greens were in awful shape. Lots of dry, dirt patches and weeds that threw off putts. Fairways were okay but definitely could use some maintenance like the mud patches. Staff didn’t greet me as I walked in and being my first time playing here, which I made them aware of, didn’t tell me where the first tee was. Also there was no starter so I could’ve walked out and teed off whenever and no one would’ve known. Pace of play was fine but all in all this was a $35 fee course at best. Definitely not worth the $75 I paid. 2 stars.
