About
Ridgeview Ranch is a Jeff Brauer design that opened in 1997. It’s friendly to the average golfer because there are rarely forced carries of water or sand to reach the large greens, making short approaches good candidates for easy ups and downs.
The design rolls through hills and trees, incorporating two creeks that come into play. The fairways are average-sized and flat, although there are a few surprising elevation changes for this flat part of north Texas. The course rolls through a housing addition and some of the holes are very tight.
Nos. 7 and 11 stand out in particular. The 7th goes 161 yards over White Rock Creek to a sloping green. No. 11 is tough because is plays well over 400 yards uphill into the prevailing wind.
Other notes: Carts are mandatory on weekends before 2 p.m. The cemetery next to the No. 3 green has graves dating back to 1800 and a historical marker to commemorate the settlers commissioned by Stephen F. Austin.
Getting there : From Dallas, travel north on the Tollway and exit Spring Creek. Turn right and drive 5 miles to Independence. Turn left and drive north to Ridge View Dr., then take a right and the course is on the left.

Rough green, hard pan fairway
Rough green, hard pan fairway. A good thing is getting longer distances from roll. Liked the enough sand in the bunkers. Over priced for the quality but perhaps right price for the location where there is not much competition. Took a while to find my ball on 9th fairway. A wall or screen needs to be installed.

Please repair the greens!
This course would be great, if they would just fix the greens. They roll pretty good. They break as they should. The speed is usually nice, but the amount of weeds and bad spots is getting ridiculous.

Course is a mess
The grass is a disaster…….. everywhere . I love the golf course though. I wish it was in better shape.

Decaying Greens
Most greens are in poor condition with budding weed.

Ridgeview Conditions
First of all, it’s ashamed that the owners aren’t putting any money into this course. It really could be a great course located in northwest Plano. The mats on the driving range are completely worn out. The greens are full of poa annua so much so that we almost called automatic two putt. There are bare dirt spots in the fairways, no water on the course and one beverage cart. This owner is running this place as inexpensive as possible. I’m afraid the only way it will change is if people quit playing it. I hear it’s for sale, let’s hope someone will buy it and run it at least as good as Pecan Hollow with the exception of the pace of play.

Needs Time and Work.
Course is in rough shape. Greens are like putting on concrete. Weeds are everywhere on the course. I’ve played this track a few times in the past and was surprised with how far it’d dropped in just a few years. Hopefully the warmer weather gets things going for them.

Course not Ready
The course seems to be still recovering from winter. Range was mats only. Fine. Greens were like putting on pineapples...bumpy with crabgrass or something growing. Fairways a bit thin with many bare spots.

Greens are hurting but otherwise good for the money. Yardage is off on 9 from tee.

Sad to see the continued downturn
Had not played Ridgeview for about 9 months due to prior poor conditions. Basically, the greens are unplayable. Every putt on every green is bounced offline by Poa Annua that has taken root throughout the Bermuda surfaces. You cannot get a decent roll. The condition of the rest of the course is below average for this time of year, with many bare spots, drainage issues and weeds throughout. CBIGG (the owners) continue to avoid investing in basic agronomy maintenance it appears. I have played this great public layout for close to 30 years and it has never been in worse condition. A sad commentary on where public golf is today. But hey, all the new golfers that have come into the game during COVID accept this as tee sheets continue to be close to full and rates continue to rise. If you need a place outside to drink and smoke cigars for 4 hours, I guess you could do worse. If you want a real golf course to play, find somewhere else.

The greens were in bad shape, but it is still early in year. Main disappointment was that we got there early and driving range was closed. Course was extremely hard and no water anywhere. Staff said it was to wet but yet it opened up for there evening scramble.

The Greens
The greens and a few other spots on the course are not growing yet. It is early Spring but some courses do already have grass growth showing up. I love this course and do hope it is in better shape soon.

Avoid course
From tee to green- worse course. Only good thing about this course is bunker.
