About
Ridgeview Ranch is a Jeff Brauer design that opened in 1997. It’s friendly to the average golfer because there are rarely forced carries of water or sand to reach the large greens, making short approaches good candidates for easy ups and downs.
The design rolls through hills and trees, incorporating two creeks that come into play. The fairways are average-sized and flat, although there are a few surprising elevation changes for this flat part of north Texas. The course rolls through a housing addition and some of the holes are very tight.
Nos. 7 and 11 stand out in particular. The 7th goes 161 yards over White Rock Creek to a sloping green. No. 11 is tough because is plays well over 400 yards uphill into the prevailing wind.
Other notes: Carts are mandatory on weekends before 2 p.m. The cemetery next to the No. 3 green has graves dating back to 1800 and a historical marker to commemorate the settlers commissioned by Stephen F. Austin.
Getting there : From Dallas, travel north on the Tollway and exit Spring Creek. Turn right and drive 5 miles to Independence. Turn left and drive north to Ridge View Dr., then take a right and the course is on the left.

Don’t waste your money.
The green were horrible and no even said anything. They are patches and weeds all over the greens. We had to play when you hit the greens one putt and pick up. They charged 72.00 and didn’t say a word about the shape of the greens. We will never play there again. We have a group of about 20 players who play monthly and we were scouting out the course for our group to play. We have definitely marked that one off the list.
What happened to Ridgeview Ranch??
Without a doubt the worst condition I’ve ever seen at Ridgeview. It’s obvious that The City of Plano just doesn’t care about this course anymore.
Somebody needs to be held accountable or replaced!

Poor condition paired with slow employee
The course was in terrible shape and that wasn’t the worse part. We had a trheesome…my buddies who play together every week and take the game seriously. They forced a fourth on us…Ryan, who had been with them for two weeks. He delayed our start, walked on our petting lines, hit our balls because he lost his, and was slow. He didn’t play well AND had terrible etiquette. Not his fault, his management probably forced him on us because we are black and was the last group of the day. Maybe they thought we would steal the carts. We finished the last three holes in the dark and left Ryan behind. Needless to say, we won’t be back.

Needs Major Improvements
The course is in bad shape. Patchy greens and fairways every single hole. Putting was impossible. Pace was good for a Friday and the rate was fair for the conditions. I won’t be back until I read better reviews.

Course in very bad shape. Should disclose to customers
First time playing course this year. Played several time per year over past twenty years and sadly disappointed with ALL course conditions. From tee boxes to fairways and Especially greens…worst I have seen in twenty years.

Save your money
Greens are burnt is several areas and full of poa annua grass. Putting on the greens is quite comical if you don’t allow yourself to get frustrated! Fairways aren’t in as bad of shape as the greens, but they could definitely use some work as well! Pace of play was exceptionally slow, especially for a Friday morning. The Marshall was active in trying to encourage groups to pick up the pace, but it didn’t really help. The course layout is challenging enough, but with the added course conditions it made the course even more challenging & a lot less fun! Until the course conditions are greatly improved, I WOULD NOT recommend Ridgeview Ranch!!!!

Good condition for time of year
Course still coming out of winter conditions but not bad. Much better than others in area that are over sanded or temporary greens

NOT WORTH THE MONEY
I’m usually not a Karen and leave reviews, but this course was really bad. Super friendly staff, but I paid $54 and the course was the worst course shape I’ve played in the area. Definitely not worth $54.
Greens were TERRIBLE. it’s hard to even call them greens. Lumpy, weedy, spotchy. The cup on one hole was sticking up over the edge, not even flush with the grass.
Pace of play was so bad. I was over 4 hours as a single and only made it to hole 15. I didn’t even finish the last 3 holes. I would have easily been over 5 hours.
If this is the only course available, stay home. I wouldn’t play this course again for even $20. Simply outrageous to charge over $50 for these conditions.

Poor Conditions
A lot of dirt spots all over the course. Bumpy ground everywhere. Greens are bumpy and have weeds all over them. Not worth $50.

Perhaps the worst ever conditions at this course
I have loved this layout for years, and it’s close to home so frequently on the rotation. At one time Ridgeview was always in great shape, but for the past couple of years it has been in horrible condition. That’s not hyperbole. Horrible. Every year they let the greens do some combination of dying and getting overrun with patchy poa. They are as bad as they have ever been. There are places where the sprinkler system is broken and is a soggy mess. The fairways are usually ok, but they are losing those, too. Tire tracks, and there are places that look like they’ve taken a scraper and bulldozed patches. I’m fairness, they reworked the bunkers last year, and they’re in good shape.
I don’t understand why the company that manages Ridgeview doesn’t hire a competent greenskeeper and make the investment to maintain it and keep it playable. They have shown at other properties they can do that. This is now May when courses in the area are recovering from what was not that tough a winter. Fairways should be greening. Other courses in the area are in good shape. No idea why they don’t take care of what could be a great course.

Interesting with potential
This course had some really interesting looks off the teebox. And was harder that it seemed at first glance. Lots of fairway undulation that made it sneaky difficult. I'd say the main bummer was the greens. They were a bit weedy and had some odd edging. But all in all, I really enjoyed the round!

Awful Greens
The course is in bad shape. There are random dirt patches in the fairways. The greens are terrible. It's just weeds, and sandy patches of what appears to be grass. Not worth the money!!

Worst Greens in DFW
Absolute worst greens in DFW. Weeds all over the place, sand pockets scattered throughout each green. Not even worth putting - might as well just pick up once you get on the green.

Terrible conditions , so sad , used to be great!
Been playing this course since it opened but this was the first time in about a year. SHOCKED AND SICKENED by the conditions! They should SHUT IT DOWN and get it back to a playable condition. It has always been one of the best public course in the area , mainly because it was in good shape and good price , neither is true now. The owners should be ashamed! The course staff should ashamed! This has the resemblance of a few courses in the past that were taken over and all revenue just kept in their pockets and ZERO money or maintenance put back into the course. Ridiculous!!!

Terrible Browns
Absolutely horrible browns…can’t call greens. The only thing green growing were the weeds. I quit after ten holes because the browns coupled with the long waits were horrendous.
