About
Ridgeview Ranch is a Jeff Brauer design that opened in 1997. It’s friendly to the average golfer because there are rarely forced carries of water or sand to reach the large greens, making short approaches good candidates for easy ups and downs.
The design rolls through hills and trees, incorporating two creeks that come into play. The fairways are average-sized and flat, although there are a few surprising elevation changes for this flat part of north Texas. The course rolls through a housing addition and some of the holes are very tight.
Nos. 7 and 11 stand out in particular. The 7th goes 161 yards over White Rock Creek to a sloping green. No. 11 is tough because is plays well over 400 yards uphill into the prevailing wind.
Other notes: Carts are mandatory on weekends before 2 p.m. The cemetery next to the No. 3 green has graves dating back to 1800 and a historical marker to commemorate the settlers commissioned by Stephen F. Austin.
Getting there : From Dallas, travel north on the Tollway and exit Spring Creek. Turn right and drive 5 miles to Independence. Turn left and drive north to Ridge View Dr., then take a right and the course is on the left.

Needs some TLC
Fun track most of the time but it was in really rough condition. Greens were all patchy with dirt/sand spots on all of them, so putting was not even worthwhile (seriously, very bad). Course was really dry except some areas that were swampy, must have a major sprinkler problem or something. Hoping they get it resolved soon.

Overpriced
I chose this course because the other course at least warned me about the conditions of the course. So, I changed my mind and selected this course. I paid 55 bucks to play a course that I've paid 10 dollar green fee for and had 100 times better greens! The greens looked like moon craters! Poa Anna everywhere, not cut short and missing grass patches with sand all over. The fairways weren't much better. I'd land dead center of the fairway and would be in a 5x5 foot patch of dirt and sand. Pretty much every shot had to be moved out of the sandy fairways. By rule I play from where I lay, but I wouldn't have had any irons left after they'd been sanded down! I liked the layout of the course, but that didn't make up for the condition and the price! I wouldn't pay 10 bucks to play here, until they have fixed the condition or at least warn you before you waste 55 bucks. At least the other course warned you about the condition and gave you 2 free beers.

Bad Condition
The greens were sanded and extremely rough. Course was overgrown and part of this I am sure is due to this time of year. Hopefully maintenance will be better next time

Disappointing experience today.
Today was the worst I’ve experienced at Ridgeview in 10+years. This has been a favored course of mine for years - never played on a Tuesday. I attempted to speak to management, but he made it clear I was bothering him, so I’m posting to GolfNow.
Greens are not good and very sandy - no signage indicating as such;
Range was closed today - which is a normal Tuesday thing apparently - no signage;
Grill manager decided she wasn’t fixing anything today. I was informed after I ordered and before I checked-in (trying to be efficient) - no apology, no signage;
Fairways - not good, lots of mud and bare areas not roped off;
Cart - no parking break - lots of elevation on this course - really unsafe. When I attempted to switch at the turn, was asked to keep driving it by a cart attendee.
Great layout of a course, but the overall experience has lessened in quality significantly.

Terrible Conditions
I had not played RR in a couple of years. The greens are the worst I have ever encountered. They were more sand than grass. So many large patches of dead space. You cannot get a good role. It was really disappointing because this used to be a great course. I would not play this course if it was free.

Don’t go there
The current condition of this course is the worst course of year and they charge $72.00 for the prime time. It’s totally waste of money.

GREENS ARE TERRIBLE!!!
I love the layout of this course, but I played here a month ago and the greens were bad, but I figured with all the rain we have gotten in the last month, they should have been better...WRONG!!! They are WORSE! You simply do not have a chance to make a putt over 2 feet, unless it is by sheer luck. There are completely bare spots, accompanied by spotty clumps of grass and pits of sand or dirt. The putts were bouncing 6" into the air on anything over 10'. Simply not worth playing this course until they figure out how to grow grass on their greens. Won't be back this year.

So disappointing
The greens on this golf course are in horrible shape. Had not played here in over a year and was so disappointed. We were told by the twosome we were paired with that they had been in this condition for some time. The pace of play was slower than expected, but 5 hours on a Saturday is no surprise. Staff did not even try to advise on course condition. Such a shame as it's a great layout. This course needs some help.

Poor green but no matter what, definitely need field marshall.
No etiquette or don't know basic rule for some player.
Even Saturday, man and wife played with every hole with teaching(??), Have to wait 5-10 min every shot. Also harassing people for nothing.

Poor greens
Tee boxes looked great, everything else in poor condition - especially the greens - barely any grass on them.

The geeens are killing me
Everything is in decent shape except the greens. Every single one had bald spots and customized mini bunkers on them. On the bright side of things I aced #7 so I can’t really review that green.

I have played this course many times before and my experience were great, but today the greens were terrible. The staff still charged the normal rate.

Stay Away!!!!
I used to play here on a regular basis, but I will never play Ridgeview Ranch again after what I experienced. In my over 40 years of playing golf all over the country, I have NEVER seen a course in such horrible shape. Dirt clods all over every "fairway" and diseased greens (yes all 18) with very little grass on them. Yet, nobody in the pro shop mentions these conditions before they take your money (probably on purpose). This is a sad GOAT RANCH that should be closed now so builders can at least use the land to put up new homes., Sad, sad, sad ..... Stay away at all costs! Oh, one more thing. When I brought these concerns to their attention (I quit after 8 holes), they did NOTHING. Thankfully I paid with my credit card so I could dispute the charge!

Dont waste your money
The course has a very nice layout. Not boring to play at all. However, the greens have more weeds and bumps than my backyard. There is very little grass anywhere even in the middle of the fairways. There is more mud orr hard ground than grass. The pro shop was rude, the hours for the driving range online is wrong and only saw the cart girl 1x in a 4 1/2 hr round. Never saw a marshal at all. Slow play bad conditions. GOAT RANCH at best.
