About
Ridgeview Ranch is a Jeff Brauer design that opened in 1997. It’s friendly to the average golfer because there are rarely forced carries of water or sand to reach the large greens, making short approaches good candidates for easy ups and downs.
The design rolls through hills and trees, incorporating two creeks that come into play. The fairways are average-sized and flat, although there are a few surprising elevation changes for this flat part of north Texas. The course rolls through a housing addition and some of the holes are very tight.
Nos. 7 and 11 stand out in particular. The 7th goes 161 yards over White Rock Creek to a sloping green. No. 11 is tough because is plays well over 400 yards uphill into the prevailing wind.
Other notes: Carts are mandatory on weekends before 2 p.m. The cemetery next to the No. 3 green has graves dating back to 1800 and a historical marker to commemorate the settlers commissioned by Stephen F. Austin.
Getting there : From Dallas, travel north on the Tollway and exit Spring Creek. Turn right and drive 5 miles to Independence. Turn left and drive north to Ridge View Dr., then take a right and the course is on the left.

Greens = bad
Played this course several times and this was by far the worse I've ever seen the greens. Not a true or smooth putt on the course. Bare spots and bumps everywhere and some of the tees were terrible. If you enjoy the 'hit and hope' strategy of putting, this is your course.

Greens need improvement
The greens were in pretty bad shape. Hopefully they improve for the summer.

Winter Damanged Fairways and Greens
Winter was not kind to this course. Many greens and fairways were damaged by the winter. Also cart paths need work.

Needs green maintenance
The tees and fairways are fine, but greens are unputtable except for a few greens. No ball washers or drinking water was on the course.

Greens were awful
The greens were the worst I have ever played. There was no "reading the green" - the ball just bumped around everywhere.

Awful Conditions
Every green is diseased. This used to be such a nice course.

Terrible Conditions
This course is in absolute terrible conditions. I understand courses have things that happen but there should be a warning ahead of time as well as a discount to play. $70 for a round where I hit off grass on maybe 6 holes and not one green is playable. Worst condition I have played on in years!

Greens are HORRIBLE
This course used to be in great shape, the greens were in horrible condition and the staff did not bother to tell us when we checked in (and they took our money). It is a shame as this is a great location and used to be in really good shape.

Greens are in very poor shape
The tee boxes & fairways are ok but the greens must of gotten affected by the February freeze. They are seemed diseased or infected. Very bumpy & uneven sometimes it's just dirt in some places. They were very hard to putt on cuz the ball couldnt roll true. They gave us the senior rate @ the pro shop which was the cheapest rate we could of probably got $41. Might have to wait awhile before we go back & play there again.

Greens are horrendous
Ridgeview is a good layout but the greens have been in terrible shape for a couple years and this most recent visit is the worst I have seen. It is like putting on the Plinko board

Needs some TLC
Fun track most of the time but it was in really rough condition. Greens were all patchy with dirt/sand spots on all of them, so putting was not even worthwhile (seriously, very bad). Course was really dry except some areas that were swampy, must have a major sprinkler problem or something. Hoping they get it resolved soon.

Overpriced
I chose this course because the other course at least warned me about the conditions of the course. So, I changed my mind and selected this course. I paid 55 bucks to play a course that I've paid 10 dollar green fee for and had 100 times better greens! The greens looked like moon craters! Poa Anna everywhere, not cut short and missing grass patches with sand all over. The fairways weren't much better. I'd land dead center of the fairway and would be in a 5x5 foot patch of dirt and sand. Pretty much every shot had to be moved out of the sandy fairways. By rule I play from where I lay, but I wouldn't have had any irons left after they'd been sanded down! I liked the layout of the course, but that didn't make up for the condition and the price! I wouldn't pay 10 bucks to play here, until they have fixed the condition or at least warn you before you waste 55 bucks. At least the other course warned you about the condition and gave you 2 free beers.

Bad Condition
The greens were sanded and extremely rough. Course was overgrown and part of this I am sure is due to this time of year. Hopefully maintenance will be better next time

Disappointing experience today.
Today was the worst I’ve experienced at Ridgeview in 10+years. This has been a favored course of mine for years - never played on a Tuesday. I attempted to speak to management, but he made it clear I was bothering him, so I’m posting to GolfNow.
Greens are not good and very sandy - no signage indicating as such;
Range was closed today - which is a normal Tuesday thing apparently - no signage;
Grill manager decided she wasn’t fixing anything today. I was informed after I ordered and before I checked-in (trying to be efficient) - no apology, no signage;
Fairways - not good, lots of mud and bare areas not roped off;
Cart - no parking break - lots of elevation on this course - really unsafe. When I attempted to switch at the turn, was asked to keep driving it by a cart attendee.
Great layout of a course, but the overall experience has lessened in quality significantly.

Terrible Conditions
I had not played RR in a couple of years. The greens are the worst I have ever encountered. They were more sand than grass. So many large patches of dead space. You cannot get a good role. It was really disappointing because this used to be a great course. I would not play this course if it was free.
