About
Ridgeview Ranch is a Jeff Brauer design that opened in 1997. It’s friendly to the average golfer because there are rarely forced carries of water or sand to reach the large greens, making short approaches good candidates for easy ups and downs.
The design rolls through hills and trees, incorporating two creeks that come into play. The fairways are average-sized and flat, although there are a few surprising elevation changes for this flat part of north Texas. The course rolls through a housing addition and some of the holes are very tight.
Nos. 7 and 11 stand out in particular. The 7th goes 161 yards over White Rock Creek to a sloping green. No. 11 is tough because is plays well over 400 yards uphill into the prevailing wind.
Other notes: Carts are mandatory on weekends before 2 p.m. The cemetery next to the No. 3 green has graves dating back to 1800 and a historical marker to commemorate the settlers commissioned by Stephen F. Austin.
Getting there : From Dallas, travel north on the Tollway and exit Spring Creek. Turn right and drive 5 miles to Independence. Turn left and drive north to Ridge View Dr., then take a right and the course is on the left.

Worst Greens in DFW
Absolute worst greens in DFW. Weeds all over the place, sand pockets scattered throughout each green. Not even worth putting - might as well just pick up once you get on the green.

Terrible conditions , so sad , used to be great!
Been playing this course since it opened but this was the first time in about a year. SHOCKED AND SICKENED by the conditions! They should SHUT IT DOWN and get it back to a playable condition. It has always been one of the best public course in the area , mainly because it was in good shape and good price , neither is true now. The owners should be ashamed! The course staff should ashamed! This has the resemblance of a few courses in the past that were taken over and all revenue just kept in their pockets and ZERO money or maintenance put back into the course. Ridiculous!!!

Terrible Browns
Absolutely horrible browns…can’t call greens. The only thing green growing were the weeds. I quit after ten holes because the browns coupled with the long waits were horrendous.

Greens are not good
The layout of the course is pretty fun, and enjoy playing it. However, there’s not much grass on the fairways and the greens are horrible. Not much grass at all, lots of sand on the green, and there’s weeds on the greens. Very bumpy and with the weeds it’s very hard to putt for the line and speed.

You try to putt over and around the weeds!
I have never seen so many weeds on the greens. They were more concentrated than the weeds on the fairways. It was also Slow Play Saturday. We stopped after nine holes, because it was so slow and the course was in such terrible condition. We will come back after they put down weedkiller, fertilizer and water. Cart girl Belle was fun!

Too expensive for the conditions
The layout is great but there were bare patches in many of the fairways and the greens were in bad shape. I get that that's early in the spring but to charge $72 for those conditions?. Maybe their tee sheet is full and are not worried about negative word of mouth they are getting. I live close to the course but would rather drive into Dallas or Garland and play their muni courses. They considerably cheaper and in better shape.

Rough Shape All around
Ridgeview Ranch has fallen off considerably in recent months. The greens were all in terrible condition with many of the holes enlarged by the flag stick not property fitting into the base and the wind blowing it around. The fairways have not been watered this year and the pace was so slow we had to wait at least 5-10 minutes on every tee box.

Wouldn’t pay full price
The course layout is pretty fun, but the fairways and greens are terrible. Putting on their greens makes my ball look like it’s off roading. The staff isn’t very friendly. I walk in the pro shop and get a blank stare from the guy at the register. Maybe he didn’t greet me because he thought i didn’t speak English. Then I went back in to see if I could head to the first tee, and there was a different person there, but same result. Blank stare and not a word.

Not Right Now
The course is currently in the worst shape I have ever seen it in. The greens are a combo of painted dirt and weeds. Trying to make a putt is almost impossible because it is like playing Plinko. This course is usually in much better shape. I was very disappointed when they didn't warn us about the condition.

Great course/bad greens
Love the course and staff but the greens are awful. I would not recommend due to the greens. Weeds, bumps and sandy.
