Ridgeview Ranch Golf Club

Played Ridgeview many times over the years but had avoided for a while as conditions went terribly downhill over the last 2 years. First must say, the staff is always super friendly. However, when it comes to reviewing the on course stuff - Ridgeview is still a rough 4.5 hours, if you can even finish in under that.

The course conditions are decent. Improving on what had become a dog track lately, but it’s all relative. Better than years past, and better than the other immediately nearby dog tracks in Plantation and Twin Creeks, but still not as well maintained as other Plano/Frisco/Allen courses in the area.

Pace of play is horrid. Never a marshall or starter in sight, so too many people insist on going off as twosomes/singles and backing up the course.

Also, how is there not a single water jug on the course, especially in the dog days of summer? Thanks for replacing those with new signage to tell me which hole I’m on… gee thanks! Lol.

As I said, the conditions are improving from its sad state the last few years, but still would rather drive over to Watters, Pecan Hollow, Heritage Ranch, etc for better value play and conditions.

Could use a ranger once in a while. Threesome in front was slow. Not playing ready golf and spending a long time talking, and looking for lost balls.

Good course conditions, considering it was August and no rain. Pro shop people are very friendly. Beverage cart timely.

Pace of play dreadful. The reason I gave one star was because I couldn’t select zero stars. Two groups of high school kids in front of us decided to play as one group of EIGHT, starting on hole 2, and did not even play ready golf. No marshal to check on pace of play, or tell them to split up. When you call the clubhouse, you get a recording, so no way to let anyone know what was going on, or if there had been an emergency, like a cart breakdown.

I probably will play again, but if these type of issues are common here, I won’t be back.

The course itself is great but they have an answering service to book teem times and you can't get the pro-shop. A group of 8 kids all played the same hole from #2 on and couldn't get a marshal out to break it up and tell them to play faster. Turned what could have been a 3hr, 45 min round to 4hr, 45 minutes.

This course was borderline unplayable in the spring and they have done amazing work to complete the bunker renovation as well as restoring the greens to a solid 8.5/10.

Their hard work has paid off with the course condition and since I have always had fun at this course it is great to see it back up to par so to speak.

The course has a challenging yet open layout and the greens were in great shape. The golf carts are in need of maintenance and the course has several locations with leaking sprinkler heads flooding some areas. Pace of play was fine however we had to join a two-some in front of us on the fourth hole Since the Pro shop did not proactively join the groups together.

Staff was friendly.

Love this layout, no boring or flat holes, lots of fairway undulations, interesting tee shots, green complexes, etc.

Bunkers have been re done and are in excellent shape---the sand is light and dry, like Myrtle Beach sand!

Greens are in great shape, tight, receptive and smooth.

Fairways are dry as to be expected and the tee boxes are decent.

An interesting/fun layout, well maintained, decently watered and a great value for the course.

Staff is super nice too!

I need to update my last review and give full credit for the improvements that have been made the past several months. I have enjoyed the layout here for years, but had stopped playing Ridgeview, because between unputtable greens overrun with poa and the torn up bunkers, the course was in terrible shape. Happy to say the bunker project is complete, with several removed and the remaining some of the best conditioned in the area. Best of all, the poa has been eliminated and you can appreciate the challenging contours with a true roll. I’ve played two Fridays this month. Four hour rounds and reasonably priced on weekdays.

They need a marshal to help with pace of play. The last few times I played the group in front is slow and nobody in front of them. A marshal would help with pace.

The course layout is challenging and friendly. However, the greens were a bit inconsistent with their speed and far more break than expected. Hole 4 is tough and tricky. While the par 5 are wide open, as they should be.

The cart girl was far and few between holes as well as not having any water on the course. Outside of that, I would recommend this course to anyone and I’ll be back.

Finally, I was very impressed as I had my own cart and I wasn’t being given any excuses as to a lack of carts. This has been a recurring problem at other courses over the last several weeks. Thanks, I had fun.

Having not played very much over the last 2 years, I was very shocked and surprised by this course. At this point, it is little more than a dried up “goat track”. It seems that almost zero effort has been put into improving or even maintaining this course. It is very sad to see. I have been on this course since before even opened (several years ago). Have played on it any number of times (it is close to my house). But it is now in sad condition. Too bad, because it still is a great layout and still gets a lot of play. But, man…!

Much improved greens over past few months. Fairways Starting to show stress of heat/drought of past 6 weeks on fairways.

Course was in a great shape and offered a challenging layout. Was really impressed with the value we got for the money we paid. Tough greens with well kept fringes and bunkers surrounding. Will definitely be back!

Course was in excellent shape for the weather and lack of rain. Greens ran true and fast. Bunkers were well maintained. Great round on a beautiful north Texas day.
