About
Ridgeview Ranch is a Jeff Brauer design that opened in 1997. It’s friendly to the average golfer because there are rarely forced carries of water or sand to reach the large greens, making short approaches good candidates for easy ups and downs.
The design rolls through hills and trees, incorporating two creeks that come into play. The fairways are average-sized and flat, although there are a few surprising elevation changes for this flat part of north Texas. The course rolls through a housing addition and some of the holes are very tight.
Nos. 7 and 11 stand out in particular. The 7th goes 161 yards over White Rock Creek to a sloping green. No. 11 is tough because is plays well over 400 yards uphill into the prevailing wind.
Other notes: Carts are mandatory on weekends before 2 p.m. The cemetery next to the No. 3 green has graves dating back to 1800 and a historical marker to commemorate the settlers commissioned by Stephen F. Austin.
Getting there : From Dallas, travel north on the Tollway and exit Spring Creek. Turn right and drive 5 miles to Independence. Turn left and drive north to Ridge View Dr., then take a right and the course is on the left.

Wow - What has happened to this course???
Pretty disappointed with the quality of the greens - really terrible shape and frankly not worth the $40 we paid to play! Really disappointed with the condition of the course - the City of Plano should be ashamed!

Much nicer places to go
For the price, not worth it! No gps, the greens were bumpy and lots of dead spots throughout the course. Both friends that I invited out to play that day said the same thing.

We had a great time. All you expect from a great course. White sand bunkers is a must.

Good day, slow play
Carts very speed limited. Barely better than a fast walk and a challenge to get up some hills. Tee times were every 5 minutes so we waited on almost every shot.
Fairways and tees in pretty good shape but greens still bumpy

no ball washers , no water jugs and 3 port a pottie's all on back 9 and no beverage cart in 95 + heat !

Course updating?
There was a severe lack of yardage markers on most of the holes. Many of the cups were damaged . We were surprised the grounds crew had not made hole changes for a packed course on Sunday. Being that we are already in for a hot summer, I am hoping the staff realizes that either the carts need coolers,more cart girls or water coolers on most holes. Its little changes that mean alot. Please make some changes sooner rather than later. I love this course but probably won't be back for awhile if changes aren't made for the money paid on greens fees.

Rough Shape
My daughter and I enjoyed our round, but for the money the greens and fairways just weren't good. No reduced fee for walking and no break either for aerated greens full of poana bumps. I like this course but will wait a long while before I play it again.

Double charged
I booked my reservation to play this course earlier in the week through GolfNow and was charged for the round. When I showed up to play in yesterday I was charged again for the round. This is completely unacceptable. When I try to locate someone or anyone with GolfNow there isn't a convenient way to figure how to do so. I won't be using this app again moving forward.

Course rot and terrible pace
It’s one of the worst $60 courses in the metroplex. It’s not worth $20. Terrible pace and no management. That’s the good part. The greens and fairways are rotted out mess. Unless I hear different, I won’t be back.
The workers are nice tho.

Has its moments...
For a muni, it's not a bad track! It has its moments that make it a solid option... they are unfortunately removing a number of bunkers, which is very, very disappointing! Taking the teeth out of this course isn't what I would have done?

Bad Greens
This course use to be great but the greens are so polluted with the Poa Anna that every put bounces and skips on its way to the hole. The greens will continue to get worse until we hit a real hot streak and the Poa dies off until then forget about it. Other than the greens there are a few areas that need some work but they are not bad. Anything that is getting work done on it is clearly marked as ground under repair. The range needs work because they are still using concrete based mats and the feed back is not the greatest. All that being said the staff was fantastic and they should not be punished for the conditions I saw on the course.

Gorgeous day
Only issue was driving range was closed due to inability to use the ball picker. Got there an hour early to hit balls. At least they let me out early.
Also, lots of weeds on greens makes putting hard.
