About
Ridgeview Ranch is a Jeff Brauer design that opened in 1997. It’s friendly to the average golfer because there are rarely forced carries of water or sand to reach the large greens, making short approaches good candidates for easy ups and downs.
The design rolls through hills and trees, incorporating two creeks that come into play. The fairways are average-sized and flat, although there are a few surprising elevation changes for this flat part of north Texas. The course rolls through a housing addition and some of the holes are very tight.
Nos. 7 and 11 stand out in particular. The 7th goes 161 yards over White Rock Creek to a sloping green. No. 11 is tough because is plays well over 400 yards uphill into the prevailing wind.
Other notes: Carts are mandatory on weekends before 2 p.m. The cemetery next to the No. 3 green has graves dating back to 1800 and a historical marker to commemorate the settlers commissioned by Stephen F. Austin.
Getting there : From Dallas, travel north on the Tollway and exit Spring Creek. Turn right and drive 5 miles to Independence. Turn left and drive north to Ridge View Dr., then take a right and the course is on the left.

Good track and challenging!
The course layout is challenging and friendly. However, the greens were a bit inconsistent with their speed and far more break than expected. Hole 4 is tough and tricky. While the par 5 are wide open, as they should be.
The cart girl was far and few between holes as well as not having any water on the course. Outside of that, I would recommend this course to anyone and I’ll be back.
Finally, I was very impressed as I had my own cart and I wasn’t being given any excuses as to a lack of carts. This has been a recurring problem at other courses over the last several weeks. Thanks, I had fun.

Formerly a great golf course for the mo ey
Having not played very much over the last 2 years, I was very shocked and surprised by this course. At this point, it is little more than a dried up “goat track”. It seems that almost zero effort has been put into improving or even maintaining this course. It is very sad to see. I have been on this course since before even opened (several years ago). Have played on it any number of times (it is close to my house). But it is now in sad condition. Too bad, because it still is a great layout and still gets a lot of play. But, man…!

Would recommend, great value
Course was in a great shape and offered a challenging layout. Was really impressed with the value we got for the money we paid. Tough greens with well kept fringes and bunkers surrounding. Will definitely be back!

Great round with friends and strangers
Course was in excellent shape for the weather and lack of rain. Greens ran true and fast. Bunkers were well maintained. Great round on a beautiful north Texas day.

2 things knocked a full star off each, 1st Sitting on the first tee and teeing off 45 minutes after Tee time, especially in this heat, is very frustrating, need to move people along the first tee and/or move people past the first hole if they are late or not ready. 2nd, its feel like temp over 110, you really need to get some water out on the course, thats not safe for your customers to not have any water available on the course. The course is in great condition and the greens are great. The track is fun and challenging, but those are 2 small but mighty issues.

Greens need some work
Course layout is great. The greens had sand all over them. Short putts were bouncing around. The guy working the pro shop didn’t seem to be happy to be there. We tried engaging in conversation, but he wanted nothing to do with it. We saw our first beverage cart on the 12th hole. It was Fathers Day and close to 100 degrees out. It would have been nice to have self serve water if the course was not going to provide beverage service on the front 9. We paid $66 for greens fees. A more appropriate price should have been around $50 based on the conditions.

No Water Dispensers on the Course?
Absolutely ridiculous that there’s no water dispensers on the course per “corporate policy” 100 degrees outside and no water, except for the $3 per bottle water at the grille or with the beverage cart.
No starter, no marshall and no water means I won’t be back.

Greens in good shape
Play Ridgeview on a regular basis and the greens are much better than earlier this year. Quite a few leaks and wet spots, but really didn't affect our play.

Good, But Greens Can Be Better
Overall course conditions were pretty good. Played the twilight round and no drink cart. Kind of hot to be sweating that out during this time of year. Staff was great and all other things considered, a very good value for the money.

Bring water!
103 on Sunday and not one drop of water on the course. And no cart girl until the 15th hole! If someone dies out there, it will be the course's fault. $72 bucks for this. Not again.

You are welcome to bring your own bottled water, Gatorade, or another refreshment as long as it is alcohol-free. Terrible conditions, overpriced and won’t book weekend singles
6/8/2022 - Updating my review. I wanted to go back this weekend, because despite the terrible conditions and the overpricing, I do like the layout. Lots of open tee times for Saturday, but now they won’t book singles. I emailed the course manager and he didn’t even bother answering.
2/27/2022 -This course is close to home, has a great layout, and I can generally get a tee time, BUT it is consistently in the worst condition of any course in the area. I’m not even sure they have a greenskeeper on staff anymore. Just a crew to mow. It’s a struggle to find a level spot on the tee box, and they have little grass left on them, because they don’t water them. Typically, there are broken sprinkler heads, so soggy areas next to greens. The greens are horrible. They are overrun with poa grass, so all tufted up, and your ball will bounce and be misdirected several times on most putts. Last spring I was told that was a result of the freeze and they would work to recover them. It has been over a year and nothing has been done. They are actually worse.
Combine the poor conditions with wild overpricing. They did away with the weekend senior rate, because they could. This last weekend, I paid $72.47. Would have been more with range balls, but they said the range was closed again, because the picker was broken (again). Compare that to prime weekend time at Westridge the week before. The course is in good shape, with GPS on the carts and a $9 medium bucket of balls hitting on grass, it was $73.87.
