Ridgeview Ranch Golf Club
About
Ridgeview Ranch is a Jeff Brauer design that opened in 1997. It’s friendly to the average golfer because there are rarely forced carries of water or sand to reach the large greens, making short approaches good candidates for easy ups and downs.
The design rolls through hills and trees, incorporating two creeks that come into play. The fairways are average-sized and flat, although there are a few surprising elevation changes for this flat part of north Texas. The course rolls through a housing addition and some of the holes are very tight.
Nos. 7 and 11 stand out in particular. The 7th goes 161 yards over White Rock Creek to a sloping green. No. 11 is tough because is plays well over 400 yards uphill into the prevailing wind.
Other notes: Carts are mandatory on weekends before 2 p.m. The cemetery next to the No. 3 green has graves dating back to 1800 and a historical marker to commemorate the settlers commissioned by Stephen F. Austin.
Getting there : From Dallas, travel north on the Tollway and exit Spring Creek. Turn right and drive 5 miles to Independence. Turn left and drive north to Ridge View Dr., then take a right and the course is on the left.

Horrible and Expensive course
Greens are horrendous, avoid this course. Would be a really nice course if they knew how to keep it properly. The greens are so damaged they have weeds growing on them. In addition, the greens are comparable to the surface of the moon, creators and pitch marks everywhere. The driving range is tired. Of course it toptracer, but the surface your hitting from is worn, uneven and horrible. Please do not waste your money and play somewhere else! Well too expensive.
Course is in terrible shape. Used to be one of the better courses in the area but they’ve lost control of the greens and the fairways are just dead grass.
Hi, Thank you for reviewing the course. Let us first start by apologizing for the poor experience you had during your visit. Your feedback about the course is important to us. Thank you for playing Ridgeview Ranch Golf Club. We hope to see you again soon.
Measle Greens
The course is good as always except for the poa annua grass on the greens. As with other courses in the area, this nuisance grass has invaded greens making your putt bump along and usually off course. I don't understand why superintendents can't figure out how to manage this nuisance? Otherwise, the course is in great shape.
Thank you for your review, We will pass along your positive experience and feedback to our team at Ridgeview Ranch Golf Club. We look forward to seeing you again soon.
The greens were bumpy and not consistent but maybe that gets better over the season.
Hello! We would love to hear more about your 4-star experience on our course. Please tell us what we can do to earn that last star, and thanks for golfing at Ridgeview Ranch Golf Club!
Raggedy front 9. Course not in good shape
I played this course once before and it wasn’t great but better than it was yesterday. The front 9 is in terrible condition! The greens were burnt out and super bumpy with patches of crab grass growing on it. No ball would roll true. The back 9 was in a little better condition and respectable. Started at 4:15pm and finished 18 with time to spare. I hadn’t played in some months and was just happy to get out and practice. If I had paid any more money I would have been highly disappointed.
Hello! Thank you so much for leaving us with your feedback. We value our customer experience, so your review is important to us. We will make note and we hope to see you back at Ridgeview Ranch Golf Club!
What a fall
RR used to be a solid choice, but no more. Greens used to be their shining star, but they are truly AWFUL. Apparently the City of Plano is out of water as well, as the fairways haven’t seen any other than that provided by Mother Nature in 2022. What a shame! This course is a MESS

This course needs some bathrooms on the course!!
On the 10th tee box…there is a sign that bathrooms are located on the 11th 13th and 15th hole. None!!! There are plenty of signs all over the course about respecting the neighbors and not urinating on the course. But there isn’t a restroom on the front 9 or the back 9. The cart girl had no clue if there were restrooms. I didn’t pay this much money to be miserable playing golf!!!! Never will I play here again. If you think you might hit the trees anyway. The twosome behind us on 17 called us out because they thought I was going to the woods. Invest in your course!! Or don’t posted a sign that there are restrooms/out houses when there are none!

Worst golf course in the DFW
Would not play here again for free. Course is in awful condition and the clubhouse staff wasn’t any better.

Ridgeview Getting better
Everything was pretty good considering all of the recovery efforts the course is making to get back to 100%. The greens are well groomed but clearly they have weed problem that hopefully gets better as summer gets closer and closer…no brown spots but bumpy at times as you navigate the roll…
The staff was very, very good and extremely engaging!
Thank you for your kind words! We hope to see you again at the course very soon for another 5-star experience. Thanks for choosing Ridgeview Ranch Golf Club.
Slow play, poor condition
Great layout but slow play and very poor condition. The pro staff were excellent

Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback as we will use your review to better the experience going forward. We hope you give us another try in the near future!
Course should be discounted until the greens and fairways have recovered
The course is still recovering from the Feb 2021 freeze that hit all our courses hard. I can't understand charging full price for a course that's yet to fully recover from the damaged caused by the hard freeze.
The greens have some small unknown grass/weed growing along side the Bermuda which makes putting a challenge. Fairways are about the same and they've got some sod out in areas they are trying to recover. These areas should be roped off and relief given when a ball lands there. Why let people play out of an area you're trying to repair?

Bad Greens and Fairways
I was extremely disappointed in this golf course and the amount paid to play a round ($72) there. Majority of the greens are in bad shape and the fairways are not much better! They spent all monies in sand traps apparently.
No starter on a Saturday so everyone for themselves and of course no Marshall on the course.
It’s a bad sign when you pull up to the first tee box and one of the players in the first group is barefooted…:(
This course needs lots of TLC and in a reduction in cost to play during this time.
Unfortunately I will not be back anytime soon.

Greens Continue struggling, service … meh
The greens continue to be horrible, the course suffers from mini mini thin spots. The practice range match are desperately in need of repair. And it just seems wrong that we have to dig the range balls out of the giant, muddy barrel – – has service completely gone away from this service industry?

Ridgeview Continues to Decline
Played it recently hoping to see improvement after avoiding it for the past few years due to poor conditions. I have played rounds every 4-5 months in the last 4 years too, but have played Ridgeview 100s of times since it opened in Plano in '97. Historically, it was one of the best values in the Metroplex and it's greens consistently very good to great. This all held til the last 3-4 years. For the most part, the greens have been close to unplayable for that period of time. First, it was some sort of sedge issue. Now it is thousands of poa annua clumps. You won't get a smooth putt on a single green. This is all the result of a failure by the greens staff to spend for proper preventative maintenance each of the last few years. This smells a lot like cost cutting by the ownership group (CBIGG). Add that to the fact that their so called "bunker renovation project" included removing at least 30-40 existing bunkers, many of which were key and strategic to the layout, and you end up with what those of us who have played for years refer to as a goat ranch. Jeff Brauer did an incredible job on this tract of land, part of which was on or adjacent to an old Plano dump at the time. I believe he would be appalled at what CBIGG have done to one of his first designs. All in the name of "cost savings". Meanwhile, rates have gone up, tee sheets have never been more packed, and revenues are flowing like they haven't in years due to to the "COVID effect" bringing 1000s of new golfers to the game. But hey, you can have fun with Top Tracer on the range, off mats that also need to be replaced.
. And there are a couple of new flat screens in the dining area. Bottom line- If you expect your $60-70 to include a golf course in good shape, find another tract for now.

Good Round - Greens need help
Had a good round and our foursome finished in 4 hr 10 min with no waiting on any holes. Tee boxes and fairways in good shape for April but the greens were pretty rough and bumpy so they didn't roll true or consistently
Thank you for taking the time to review us! Your feedback is valuable, and we appreciate your business. Ridgeview Ranch Golf Club thanks you!
