The golf course at the Arrowhead Golf Club has been declared the top public course in Denver in the past by Golf Digest, as well as one of the top 75 public courses in the nation. The towering red sandstone rock formations are a trademark of the course, providing a unique and beautiful atmosphere, which is further enhanced by the abundant wildlife that have made the course their home. The rolling terrain provides elevation changes and undulation to the greens. Water hazards and bunkers also come into play on the course. Arrowhead Golf Club's signature hole is the par-3 13th hole. It is a steep, downhill hole with scenic views.

Spectacular views - greens could be better, but it's November

As with most courses in Denver-area in November, the greens have been punched, but I wouldn't consider them unplayable at all. As most reviews note, the views are wonderful and the course layout makes it a very fun round.

the best $60 course in the area

Wow. What views! I almost rather watch the deer than my ball. Course is in great late season. Friendly staff. Great off season rate!

Views do not dissapoint

Great place to take a visitor as the setting is unique and stunning. However its clear most aspects of running this place are being skimped on making the overall experience less than satisfying. Everything from a complete lack of small plate starter options to the maintenace of the course are noticeably compromized and not as good as most local courses. Considering geen fees are high end, reasonable expectaions for the overall experience are not met.

Expected better

I have played this course numerous times and have not seen it in this condition until now. Greens were horrible. GPS didn't work and there are not many markers to go off of. Staff was rude when asked about GPS.

Course has fantastic views, and wildlife.

I wish the site would have stated that the greens were plugged and sanded. The greens were in poor shape, I invoked the 2 putt rule to help the beginning golfers still have fun.

Bring your clubs and a camera

I played the course on 19 Oct 2012 and found it to be one the best course I played this year. Recently I have been playing a number of course that I traditionally don’t get a chance to play. I played 4 Mile Ranch, Red Hawk Ridge, Antlers Creek, The Ridges, Bear Dance and now Arrowhead. Each of the courses where very different and interesting in their own way. I found Arrowhead to have probably the hardest fairways because of the slope on many of the fairways and you will defiantly get a bounce and a good roll downhill. The greens are also multi leveled with lots of slopes. The only negatives I found were the greens where recently aerated and sanded so you could not get a true roll and they were hitting off of the mats on the driving range. Hitting off the mats screws me up on real grass. However, these are to be expected with the lateness of the year and the need to prepare the course for the winter.

Arrowhead is a challenging course but a very enjoyable course. Bring a camera some of the best rock formations in Colorado.

Nice course, lazy staff

Arrowhead is a very picturesque and challenging layout that is kept in better than average condition. Unfortunately we were exceptionally disappointed by the overall service we received, from the bag drop/cart staff and the complete lack of on-course marshaling resulting in a very slow round.
We arrived early before our round to have lunch and warm up. The bag drop staff informed us that because of lack of available carts, our bags would stay on the rack and would be put on our cart closer to our tee time, which was fine. The problem was as our tee tie approached, our bags (not more than 4 feet away from 3-4 staff members standing around chatting among themselves) continued to sit on the rack while our cart (with our name/tee time displayed) had been sitting 10 feet away for the last 15 minutes. When it was finally time for us to drive to the 1st tee, we had to grab our own bags and secure them to our cart. OK, this was in no way physically challenging and I don't wish to sound like some sort of elitist snob, but if you're going to claim a "country-club" experience for your course, expect me to be pretty annoyed when I'm having to put my own bag on my cart while being watched by 4 bag drop staffers.
Our round took almost 5 hours to complete due to slow groups in front of us. Would help if there was a starter at the 1st tee to persuade the less skilled golfers that playing from the tips (137 slope) might not be in anybody's best interest. Didn't see any marshals on the course trying to help speed up play.
Worth noting, the practice range is only 180 yards deep so don't expect to get a feel for your driver until you're teeing off #1.

Memorable Scenery- Course not so much

Arrowhead is a decent layout, with elevation changes and a combination of wide open holes coupled with holes that make you select a small target area. The scenery alone makes it worth playing this course. Conditioning could be improved as not all of the tees and fairways were in great shape. There were lots of dry areas that could use some watering. I would play here again, because the scenery certainly makes for a unique experience. I probably would not make this a regular stop, though, because the conditioning and layout were not great.

Excellent Course

One of the best mountain courses in CO. Greens were in excellent condition. 17/18 holes in pristine condition, fairway to green. Great value!

Only thing I did not like was starting at hole 10.

Scenic, Fun Course - Pretty Darn Good Conditions!

"Wow" is the word that comes to mind reminiscing back at my round at Arrowhead. Really. Some amazing views, and the air was so crisp and inviting. The course was well conditioned, and the greens rolling pleasantly well (if fast greens are to your liking that is.) A couple of mickey mouse holes, but, given the scenery, even those are palatable.

A couple of knocks:

1. Be prepared for a longish (bordering on unacceptably) long round. I played on a Monday (not a holiday or anything), and it still took north of 5.25 hours, which is unacceptable. If the beauty of the surroundings hadn't kidnapped my soul, I would have walked off after 13 or 14.

2. The cart staging personnel were markedly inattentive (but, in the grand scheme, who really cares... I'm there for the golf.)

First Time Playing

One of the best courses I've played!

While the price is outside of my comfort range, I played this course with a friend while on vacation. I think he'd gotten some kind of Groupon or 2for1 which made it playable financially speaking. I'm too used to the affordable courses in my home area of Austin TX.

Obviously a course like this has some great scenery. It certainly compliments the course layout and conditions. The course rolls up/down and left/right just enough to make you take a moment to plan your shot ... to choose the best spot to end up for your next approach. And they've used the water and bunker hazards nicely for a good, all-around experience.

Now everyone get out. I think I'll buy the whole place, make the clubhouse my new home, and sit looking up the #10 fairway with a cold one in hand looking towards the contrasting rock formations. Ahhh... that's the good life.

Windy AM

Probably the most beautiful golf courses ever. The layout of each hole enhances the red rocks that lines or surrounds the course. Early morning is a little windy.
