Arrowhead Golf Club

About
The golf course at the Arrowhead Golf Club has been declared the top public course in Denver in the past by Golf Digest, as well as one of the top 75 public courses in the nation. The towering red sandstone rock formations are a trademark of the course, providing a unique and beautiful atmosphere, which is further enhanced by the abundant wildlife that have made the course their home. The rolling terrain provides elevation changes and undulation to the greens. Water hazards and bunkers also come into play on the course. Arrowhead Golf Club's signature hole is the par-3 13th hole. It is a steep, downhill hole with scenic views.

Great time, any time
This course’s views are worth a million bucks and to have played with my wife in a cart for $60, both of us! We’re ahead when we see deer and bucks hanging everywhere and us being able to play in December. We were not the only ones to take advantage of this deal as the course was jammed (5.25 hour round) but worth it every time.
This GC is breath taking
The course is in excillent shape. The staffs are so nice and friendly. The course layout is amazing.
Almost perfect
If the greens hadn’t been needled and sanded, that day, it would have been darn near perfect conditions.
Staff needs a makeover
You came here to hear about the course, so let's start there. This is a breathtaking track with incredible rock formations and elevation changes. Each hole deserves a picture or two. The greens are incredibly challenging. Not a flat spot on them, so even though they are slow, putts can easily slide away from you. If the greens were any faster, they would be unplayable- especially with the wind.
The pro shop staff and bag people/starters however got the day started on the wrong foot. When one of our group members had an emergency, they said they had to pair us up with the group in front of us. This only made pace slightly better for the group behind us- for a hole or two. They will not give you cart keys until the minute of your tee time, which by then you should have already sized up your opening tee shot and pegged it up.
We were paired with a couple 100+ shooters, which really made the round miserable. I am all for everyone getting out to play, but you need to take skill into account when pairing people up.
By the 6th hole, we were already 30 minutes behind and the staff refused to do anything about it. Didn't even get to finish our round with the pace of play.
If you have the cash and time to burn, I would recommend playing this course, but bring your entire foursome- otherwise there are better deals in the area.
Worth the $ - a red Rocky Mountain experience
The wind howled early in the day, but started to subside as things motored along. A real, fun layout with multiple astounding views. For the greens fee cost, I was a little surprised the post-round staff wasn't a little more attentive. But it wasn't a too big a deal.
Most scenic non ocean course ever played!
I've played 25 or so top 100 courses and flew in to Denver to knock Broadmoor East off the list. After 4 rounds there on way back to airport we stopped at Arrowhead which was about 15 minutes out of the way so no problem there. I can truly say this is the most scenic non ocean course I've ever played. We took more pictures here than any other. It's unbelievably pretty. I'm an 8 handicap and shot 88 so it's a tough course as well. Had way more fun with more interesting shot selection than at Broadmoor. The views were better than Garden of the Gods as well. Very green lush course with Sedona type Red Rock backdrop. Was just awesome. Highly reccomend!!
Over priced, over rated
Greens were slow, appeared to be just average maintenance, played several other courses that are a better value, ie Todd Creek, Walnut Creek
Arrowhead is a must
Played Arrowheadnlast week. What a beautiful and challenging course. The red rocks on and off the course are great to look at. The "rocks" on the course make for an interesting and fun round. Very playable and a solid challenge.
The food was great in the clubhouse. Their grilled brisket sandwich is fantastic. I had Guly recommend it.
My wife rode with me, and she enjoyed every hole and the views. Saw plenty of wildlife. Large buck with a big rack was lounging in one of the bunkers....quite a sight. If you are staging near Denver, play Arrowhead for sure. The practice area is short....irons only!
Nice courses pace of play horrible
Teed off at 9:18 behind a early morning outing. Course in great shape staff very friendly but for 160 + 65 for rental clubs do not be able to finish a round in under 5 hours is utterly ridiculous. There were three groups of 4 on one hole at one point. Staff was nice people were nice but would never play again because the pace of play and lack of movement of those people who were slowing the whole course down. Only got through 16 holes before we had to leave for another commitment because the pace of play what so bad
Beautiful scenery, good course, OK staff
Absolutely spectacular scenery with red rock outcroppings and hills framing many of the holes. The course is challenging and generally well maintained. My only minor complaints were the pro shop staff, inefficient, overly controlling and not very accommodating. Also the beverage cart charges nearly $10 for a can of beer, so beware.
Brrr.....
We got a hot deal on GolfNow and we're able to play as a two some. The tempature at tee off was 20° but felt like 5° due to windchill. Still had a great time and the course was in exceptional condition, especially for having already been winterized. The greens were frozen and hard by pitted rather slowly for arrowhead. It's still one of the most scenic courses in Colorado.
"Twilight Rates start at noon"
So we teed off at 1:20 and by 4:00 we were done with 9 holes. Not a bad pace of play but not great.
Went to the starter to see if we could get a raincheck for the back 9 as we didnt have time to go any further and it was close to dusk anyway, so we thought we'd play the back nine another day.
We were informed that "Twilight Rates start at noon" because of the location of the course in the valley where it gets darker sooner.
Ive attached a screenshot of the online tee times system and looked pretty thoroughly at their website and couldn't seem to locate anything that said twilight starts at noon.
Very disappointed. Will not play here again. I much prefer Bear Dance for service and value
Beautiful course, worth a round at least once, don't worry about your score
This is a course I've wanted to play for too long. Finally an off season rate, beautiful weather, and a free day and it happened. The setting is gorgeous with the Fountain formation sandstone. Sure, you can't warn up your driver, woods, or hybrids, but that's evident in the reviews here. Elevated tee boxes add to the experience. Only 6600y, it's not long enough to avoid the back tees. #4 may prove tricky for those with limited ability to fly the approach. Don't play a yellow ball on #10 and hit down the right side. Your ball will camo among the range balls. #13 & 14 are cool. water is closer you think OB #18. Some blind shots leave you concerned not to hit into the party ahead. Some tee boxes are uneven & furry which may affect your shots. Played in <4h with others enjoying the views. Enjoy the round, don't fret the score!
Stunning views. Slow play
Second time playing Arrowhead. Absolutely love this course. Early tee times were poorly managed resulting in a 5+ hour round. Really put a damper on the experience.
Windy summer weather at Arrowhead
This is a must play course. The rock formations have you thinking you're near the Flatirons of Boulder and Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs. You certainly don't experience this in the Midwest.
The back nine is very memorable. Pace of play could have been better, but taking in all the natural beauty is worth it.
Beautiful fall day
Outstanding course with great views. The greens a very challenging.
Unbelievably slow play this time
I travel 1500 miles to play this course every year for four years straight. This last experience was absolute misery. The course allowed a company best ball tournament on the weekend. I am all for a group of non-golfers (and I mean NON-Golfers) getting out and experiencing the game however, the course should have let people booking behind this group know they should expect a 7 hour round. I inquired about tournament rules and teams were supposed to pick up at double bogey. We had to endure watching the foursomes ahead take shot after shot after shot into water, woods and wherever. The marshals did little to speed the groups up even after we called the clubhouse. They did little to ensure the group of drinkers (I mean golfers) adheard to the rules. Top it off with zero golf etiquette (yelling, screaming, driving erratically and 8 shots off each tee box). I love this course and have been looking forward to playing it for a year. These types of tournaments should never be allowed on a weekend nor should the course EVER book tee times behind such an event! The most disappointing part is not one single person from the staff ever offer to provide a voucher, partial refund or anything to show they cared. To travel so far and Pay $165 for a round to be miserable due to VERY SLOW play I would have expected and still do expect the course manager to apologize and offer a deep discount to encourage my return as well as me recommending this course to my many clients and friends whom travel to Denver.
Stunning settings, excellent course conditions
Played this course for the first time with wife, son and daughter in law. Son was married here 5 years past.
Greens are fast, very well kept, and typical challenging mountain twists and turns. Fairways excellent.
First cut rough a ball and club eater. I never have understood why some courses feel the need to make their first cut rough so deep. Difficult to find your ball, use one or two clubs more just to get the club through the thick and heavy grass.
Unfortunately, whenw e arrived we were informed that the driving range was closed (11AM tee time) as Arrowhead had booked 3 weddings for the day and they needed the driving range for one of the weddings. As an apology, they were giving each golfer ONE drink ticket. In addition, the grill was closed until 5PM, also due to the weddings.
My take, if the golf course is going to take away a portion of the golfing experience (some of us need to warm up) and not tell the golfers in advance, one drink ticket is a poor effort at Customer Service. Should have reduced the $149 greens fee by at least 10%. Felt like the Accounting department was running Sales and Marketing. Other than this, fine course, great staff, maybe rethink whether the increased wedding revenue is worth leaving their golf customers feeling second class
