Arrowhead Golf Club
About
The golf course at the Arrowhead Golf Club has been declared the top public course in Denver in the past by Golf Digest, as well as one of the top 75 public courses in the nation. The towering red sandstone rock formations are a trademark of the course, providing a unique and beautiful atmosphere, which is further enhanced by the abundant wildlife that have made the course their home. The rolling terrain provides elevation changes and undulation to the greens. Water hazards and bunkers also come into play on the course. Arrowhead Golf Club's signature hole is the par-3 13th hole. It is a steep, downhill hole with scenic views.

Unbelievably slow play this time
I travel 1500 miles to play this course every year for four years straight. This last experience was absolute misery. The course allowed a company best ball tournament on the weekend. I am all for a group of non-golfers (and I mean NON-Golfers) getting out and experiencing the game however, the course should have let people booking behind this group know they should expect a 7 hour round. I inquired about tournament rules and teams were supposed to pick up at double bogey. We had to endure watching the foursomes ahead take shot after shot after shot into water, woods and wherever. The marshals did little to speed the groups up even after we called the clubhouse. They did little to ensure the group of drinkers (I mean golfers) adheard to the rules. Top it off with zero golf etiquette (yelling, screaming, driving erratically and 8 shots off each tee box). I love this course and have been looking forward to playing it for a year. These types of tournaments should never be allowed on a weekend nor should the course EVER book tee times behind such an event! The most disappointing part is not one single person from the staff ever offer to provide a voucher, partial refund or anything to show they cared. To travel so far and Pay $165 for a round to be miserable due to VERY SLOW play I would have expected and still do expect the course manager to apologize and offer a deep discount to encourage my return as well as me recommending this course to my many clients and friends whom travel to Denver.
Stunning settings, excellent course conditions
Played this course for the first time with wife, son and daughter in law. Son was married here 5 years past.
Greens are fast, very well kept, and typical challenging mountain twists and turns. Fairways excellent.
First cut rough a ball and club eater. I never have understood why some courses feel the need to make their first cut rough so deep. Difficult to find your ball, use one or two clubs more just to get the club through the thick and heavy grass.
Unfortunately, whenw e arrived we were informed that the driving range was closed (11AM tee time) as Arrowhead had booked 3 weddings for the day and they needed the driving range for one of the weddings. As an apology, they were giving each golfer ONE drink ticket. In addition, the grill was closed until 5PM, also due to the weddings.
My take, if the golf course is going to take away a portion of the golfing experience (some of us need to warm up) and not tell the golfers in advance, one drink ticket is a poor effort at Customer Service. Should have reduced the $149 greens fee by at least 10%. Felt like the Accounting department was running Sales and Marketing. Other than this, fine course, great staff, maybe rethink whether the increased wedding revenue is worth leaving their golf customers feeling second class
Beautiful scenery
Excellent course in great condition. The views are spectacular. A little slow on Sunday afternoon, but worth the wait.
Must play
Superb course and layout. Got out at 4:15 and breezed through 18 in 3 hrs. Great condition, tricky greens.
Great round!
Great mountain golf course, excellent conditions, friendly staff, highly recommended.
Great views, tricky greens
Excellent course with phenomenal views. The best I've ever seen playing golf. Greens on the front nine slope a lot. Easy to lose balls, so bring plenty of ammo. And pace was a little slow on the front. But a wonderful course.
Expensive, Challenging, Beautiful Views
The course itself was in good condition, but I wouldn't call it excellent. There was a lot of ground under repair and areas that weren't great. The greens were nice but not fast. Overall, I'd say I've played nicer courses for the kind of money they charge. But, playing in the red granite peaks was very cool for a Midwesterner. The views were beautiful and they had some very challenging holes where you have to play around/over the granite.
Red Rocks golf
Beautiful course in the red rocks. Narrow fairways. Fast, smooth greens. 5 hour round. Windy until 10:00 am. Cart girls make frequent stops for drinks, etc. Nice restaurant with views. Big menu.
Greens were pitiful fairways and Teeboxes shaggy at least an inch to inch and half long
I was told they plug the greens six weeks ago and they're still pitiful on the back nine I didn't even bother putting any more waste of time
Fairways and tee boxes were very shaggy teeboxes were so long you could literally put a long tee in the ground and your ball was barely above the grass
This course has a long way to go to be worth $120 green fees that they command
Only Plus this course has right now is a scenic values second to none
No better way to spend a day in Colorado in February
Golf Course was great; staff was awesome. Great value for the money, had an awesome day!
This course has great features
Awesome!!!!!
I really enjoy this beautiful course and very good condition
I would recommend
Great Value
I would definitely recommend this course for the value if you get a discounted rate. Overall, the course was in great shape!
Beautiful golf course
This is a must play course. The course is beautiful with views of huge rock formations and wildlife; oh yes and there is the golf. Great layout. The staff is very helpful.
Beautiful track
Denver's most scenic track. Fun and challenging. Make sure to pack your camera
Some of the best views in denver and mountains, fun course to play
Plan on 3-4 trips every summer!!! Fall has amazing colors and red rock views...
Incredible Views!!!
Got there early and ate lunch. Food was excellent. Service was too. Good variety of beverages.
Driving range is short, nothing but irons allowed. Putting green was crazy fast which was nothing like any of the 18 holes.
The course was in great shape. I got distracted by the scenery and got off in the tall grass a few times on the front...you do not want to be anywhere but in the short grass on this course. If you find it good luck getting it back in play.
Overall I enjoyed the course and would play it again.
The real value and entertainment is in the setting.
We played in the evening. No clouds, no wind, 73 degrees, full moon. I have never seen such incredible rock formations. At times I forgot all about golfing. Luckily there was no one behind us for a few holes and I was able to take a lot of pics.
Not my favorite course in the Denver area to try for a low score but was well worth the trade off.
Tremendous views and great surroundings
It was great experience from the first greeting until the final hole. The staff was attentive to our needs and very friendly. the views and surrounding were like no other.
Very Scenic and Great Condition
Great facilities and excellent condition. Greens are very fast and difficult because of slopes. It is easy to have a downhill putt and not be able to stop it. Most scenic course I have been on so don't let the 3 putts (or 4) bother you and enjoy the course. There is a reason it is 6,300 yes and has a slope of 135 from mid tees. My only complaint is that this course is a popular wedding site and we had to wait 15 minutes on 9th tee waiting for bride and groom to finish having pictures taken.
The most visually stunning course I've ever played
This course is just amazing! You almost don't believe it until you see it. The pace of play was a little slow but that was mainly because we were taking so many pictures. You think you died and went to golf heaven. This course Is the must play in the Denver area! On top of the scenery the course is in great shape. I can't wait to play it again!!
Great Views, but over-rated
The views are spectacular, and the course has personality. Greens and fairways in great shape.
Couple of issues:
No "real" driving range (Irons only)
Packing in tee times.
The day I played, they had two scrambles going on before our tee time. Kinda made the round rushed, then slowed, all day long.
You should play this course, just for the views, but I think it's overrated, and overpriced....
...Just so you know its Sandstone...not granite...
