Needs a rehab
I've played here many times over the years, and each time the conditions have gotten worse and worse. 6 total greens were mostly dirst with holes in them. Most of the fairways seem to be crumbling. And all of the tee boxes were weeds and extremely uneven. The first time I played Pecan Grove, it was immaculate. One of the best I had ever played. But it was also still private at that time. That was 10 years ago. It seems they have stopped caring. For 75 dollars I can play at other courses in the area, have better course conditions, and feed myself. I hope they improve. It really is a great course. Just a shame they have let it go.
Bad green conditions
For this course to cost as much as it does I would expect better conditions. Most of the greens have weeds/sand/dead grass throughout making putting nearly impossible. One of the worst values for the money in the Houston area.
Not worth the money
I will probably never play this course again, the greens reminded me of k-mart parking lots. It’s embarrassing charging this price for the state of the course. Even course members complained that the establishment is owned by a company out of china and doesn’t give a dang about upkeep.
This course rating should fall to a 2.5/5 stars to accurately describe it.
Worst course ever
If I could give zero stars I would $70 for a round of golf when the greens are unplayable is ridiculous course is complete gone they need to just shut down the course driving range is unusable no grass at all and is so short of a range can’t hit driver overall experience poor would never recommend the course will never play there again
Course Needs work
Hadn't played this course in over a year. It was in better shape. The front 9 on Pecan course was nit great but ok
the greens were dry, cracked and just not good. Balls were bouncing like a basketball court on the fairways The back 9 was terrible. It was like playing in a dried out cow pasture. Which is surprising since the fron 9 didnr look like that. The ground was rock hard, and full of holes and bumps. I almost twisted an ankle walking in the fairway.
Tee boxes full of crabgrass and clover. The fairways weren't much better. I get that they need rain because all of the ponds were low, but they need better watering and maintenance overall.
Greens need some serious attention!
The greens were in terrible condition worst I’ve seen very disappointing given it’s a private golf course.
Good course, improving conditions
The condition of the court is slowly improving. Certainly better than it was a month ago. One green still is very poor but the others are fine.
Still Bad Condition
Another year, another poor playing condition for this course. The tee boxes have no grass and several of the greens are borderline unplayable. At this point they should just rip them up and start over! Don't waste your money playing here until they actually spend some money to fix those awful greens.
Poor green and Tee box conditions
Friendly staff and players, nice course layout and good bar and grill, but time has taken its toll and the greens and tee boxes were in poor condition
27 Holes to love
A couple of greens were dead, and one fairway was sunken and full of ruts. Otherwise, for winter, the course was in decent shape. Negatives: No food on Monday because chef is off; two, no bathrooms anywhere on the course.
Terrible greens.
Without a doubt, these are the worst conditions for greens I have ever experienced while playing golf. They should either not be open or not be offered on Golf Now. Despite this, the facilities are great, and the staff is both friendly and professional.
I golf partner and I enjoyed playing at Pecan Grove Plantation Golf Course. The staff was very friendly and helpful checking us in.
Terrible
Course conditions were absolutely terrible. You’d think with this course being semi-private they would actually use some of the membership money to keep the greens in decent shape. Worst conditions I’ve played in a while. Do not spend $75 to play here.
Good value and fun layout
Course conditions yesterday were hard due to the rain from Saturday and gusty winds that are no fault of PGCC but the course held up pretty well in spite of that- there were a lot of golfers but the pace of play was surprisingly good despite the elements.
Subpar Conditions
I have now played this course twice in the past 5 weeks and found the course in poor condition. It is not worth paying $20.00 to play golf here more less paying $70.00 a round. There are much better courses to play for around the same price point that are in much better condition. The greens were in terrible condition and the course has not yardage marks on the fairways. The bar staff, food and service was good, but would think again about golfing at this course in the future.
Not in Great Condition
The course is not in Great Condition. The"grass" is brown everywhere. They're are many low spots with water and mud. Many of the greens have filler sand that you must put through.
