Best kept secret
My friends started playing pecan grove about 4 months ago. It is now our favorite place to play. It has three nines, Greens are smooth.
Fun until the back 9
The course set up is pretty straight forward country club golf. Hole are bunkered perfectly to penalize the low ball hitter. Namely me. Six bunkers in 18 holes. The sand differs from front 9 to back 9. Fluffy round spheres on the front. If you let the bounce do it’s work you should get out easily. Back 9 was hard packed and if you don’t take a steeper angle you can bounce into the ball knocking it across the green. Greens on back 9 are more consistent. The front 9 had patches of what appeared to be different types of grass. Both surfaces were bumpy from many indentured but still fast enough to make you pay attention to your stroke. Fairways are mixed dormant grasses with into the grain shots being more penal then down grain shots. Rough on the front 9 your digging the ball out and not one ball sat on top of the 3” grass. The rough on the back 9 wasn’t bad unless hitting into the grain and it is not as consistent as the front. You can land in bare spots between two clumps of 2 inch grass. All in all the 1 hr and 20 min drive from my house was the worst part of the day. Course is fun until the group of members jump in front of you on the 10th tee. Then it is fun but slower. It is definitely a course you need to play to figure out the lines to hit your tee shots from. Since it is a long drive for me, it will be a course to go to for a change of pace. If you have a trip to Sugerland Richmond area by all means I would include my clubs to play.
Good condition
The overall course condition is good and acceptable given the dry weather conditions.
Great value
Excellent value for Money when booked with a hot deal , some challenging holes with a nice layout , pace of play was excellent , course was overall in great condition , will continue to play here with the golf now specials
Chamber of commerce day
With perfect weather and no wind should of scored lower. The layout is fairly challenging. Loose leaves on the course, hiding balls hit in the fairways. Good pace of play. Drink cart seen once all day.
nice course
played 11/21 in the afternoon , weather was a little windy so made some holes a challenge.
Course is in good shape but greens were quick
very good value for the price
Perfect day for golf
Perfect sunny day for golf in Houston. The Pecan and Grove courses were in good shape. Some greens need a little work and the copious leaves ate a couple balls. This course is tight on some holes and water can be tricky if you have not played it before. Pace of play was ok I finished in 3.25 hours after playing first nine alone behind a threesome and paired up with them after that for next nine. The staff was friendly and the folks I played with were nice.I would definitely play it again even though it’s an 45 minutes from my house.
Fall Golf
Beautiful fall golfing on a very well maintained course! Really enjoyed all the turning leaves on the trees everywhere!
Great Track!
First time playing the course and definitely coming back. Not a long course but challenging enough that makes it fun.
Nice hidden gem
Only played at Pecan/Grove. Green is good on both courses. Fairway is wide. It’s a stress free course. This is my 2nd time played here, but never got luck to play at Plantation course. Not sure why they don’t want you to play there. But overall is a good course for the money. We will definitely come back more often, then we can get to play Plantation 9.
True greens
So it took a few holes to get going but once my body and mind woke up my experience here was great. U could read these greens that's half the battle .the putts were falling aside from just a few rough patches that my ball found the round was fantastic. Haven't played in a while and not knowing the course it was a great time hope to come back. Give this place a go if you like smooth greens.
Rough ride
Course is in good condition.
Carts should have been replaced long ago.
Old and gas, enough said.
First time play
Lived nearby for 40 years and never had an opportunity to play the course. Enjoyed the round
Interesting Layout
Most holes are embedded in a neighbourhood community and thus more tighten although wide holes are provided too, paired with some good traps.
Okay Nothing Spectacular
Nice course and staff but average layout with nothing spectacular. What’s important to me are beautiful, memorable holes. Doubt I’ll remember any of these in a week. We played Pecan and Grove nines. Maybe there are some memorable holes on the Plantation that would change my opinion.
Bargain!!
Best course for the money! Three nines, so rarely have to wait. Great layout. Price is less than anywhere else.
