2-ball
Played after a number of days of wet weather.
The course was in good condition but the fairways don’t drain well.. The greens were in great condition and they do drain well.
On this particular day the fairways were a touch too.
Regardless of the above, I really enjoyed the course, not too many difficult slopes, instead hazards and lots of water lead to a course that definitely requires plotting. It’s not a ‘hit as long as you can’ course.
Staff were really friendly and members all very pleasant.
I shall be back next summer to play again. Just one to avoid after a lot of rain fall.
A good challenge
We had played the course about 10 years ago and not thought much of it but we enjoyed it this time.
It has quite a few long par 4s which are a challenge and quite a few water ditches that make you think about club selection. There’s enough space to relax but some greens are well guarded by water which mixes it up a bit.
They were starting lots of people off the tenth and unfortunately this led to an excruciatingly slow front 9. Pace picked up for the back 9 though. Friendly club house and members.
Lovely course staff welcoming. Spoilt a little by some a*se who decided to kick off over a mistake.
A pristine course in very good condition for the time of year. Made to feel welcome on arrival and to be fair had a very good round, all spoilt because one doddery idiot decided to make such a big deal over one of our party making a mistake by playing his number 3 prov1 instead of his own number 3 prov1 that were side by side in the rough. Yes our guy made a mistake and apologised but the bloke continued to make a proper deal about it (this was a Monday morning round not the US open and they weren’t even in a comp it turns out!!). But apart from this incident very good.
Many thanks Chipping Sodbury.
Great fun on a great layout!
2nd time of playing this course and can safely say it is one of the better courses in the Bristol area. Interesting course in good condition. And had some lovely food after. Thank you
A good test
Played on a Monday, the course was quite busy, but the pace of play was excellent, 3 1/2 hrs for the round.
The course was in good condition and the greens were superb, this is a great course, testing enough for the better golfers but not too exacting for the higher handicapped players. The layout needs a carefully thought out game plan, as there are plenty of strategically placed bunkers, streams & ponds waiting for the misplaced drive.
All the staff were very friendly and helpful and their bacon rolls are lovely.
Deffo recommend
I was on holiday and wanted to play a good course and wasnt disappointed. Great t layout lovely tricky greens that rolled well. As my first time i slightly struggled with the water as couldnt guage distance and ended up laying up way back aftet putting 2 balls into water early in round. Would deffo play again. Alll round great experience
Nice course, friendly pro shop
Pleasant course in good condition. Nothing not to like.
Lovely Day Chipping Sodbury
Played here today and really enjoyed it. Course in great condition with enough challenges to keep you thinking. Course staff were very friendly and in particular the very friendly and helpful chap in the Pro shop!
Would definitely recommend and would play again.
Challenging course with friendly staff and well maintained amenities
Challenging course with friendly staff and well maintained amenities. Good challenge for regular golfers of varied abilities. Thoughtful play necessary on many holes due to dog legs and ditches running across many fairways at driver distance so a lesser club is regularly needed. Many trees and bunkers keeping the greens well guarded and the greens (on the day) were slow causing even more complexity. Extremely happy to come away with an 85.
Great Course
First time playing here, really enjoyable course with some tough holes. Fairly open fairways throughout the course, but you certainly have to think about your shot selection. Greens in excellent condition for time of year (September). Would definitely recommend
Nice Course. Long
I don't get to play CS too often as it is normally a bit more expensive than its rivals but I always enjoy it when I do.
This was no different. Late pm in September it was in good nick, with few other players around. There's a bit of water and plenty of trees, so it's a fair challenge.
It is also quite long. My partner advised that it is longer than The Brabazon (presumably not the Ryder Cup Tees), which he had just played, according to his GPS.
So give yourself enough time and make sure you are feeling fit. But it's relatively flat, so a lot to enjoy.
Best course in the area
This is by far the best course in the Bristol bath area. absolutely immaculate. Friendly staff and players. Good changing facilities etc. Highly recommend
Great condition
Loved playing this course, my only complaint was I booked through tee times and unfortunately one player couldn't make it last minute and I had to foot the bill. So ended up being an expensive round!
Really enjoyed my 1st round here, it made me think of my distances as most of the hazards were around 200yds from the tee. Will have another round here soon.
Temp Greens
7 of us played today and the only disappointing thing about the whole day was that all greens were not in play and all on temp greens.
Wasn't made aware of this at any point, when booking or when arriving.
Would probably have selected another local course knowing the facts.
Chipping sodbury is a lovely course and very well maintained just played on the wrong day.
