Very good course
Gloucester golf course is very good, greens are in tip top condition and course layout very good,.
All staff are friendly and helpful, a bit of a new course layout is going on at the moment but when finished it will be a challenging course.
exciting course!
Great condition, undulating with fantastic views. A little steep on a couple of holes but certainly worth it. 3 members were kind enough to let me join them as i hadn't played there before. Roger, Jim and Lou thank you for your help and generously allowing me to join you. You are a credit to your club! Loved it so much i am playing again in one days time.
Great test and value for money
Really looked forward to coming back here and wasn't disappointed.
Yes it's hilly, the greens had just been treated and there are a couple of area's being worked on. This should not detract from what is essentially a good test of golf.
This is also a great value for money experience. A friendly club too with a nice bar and clubhouse.
We will certainly be back.
Extremely disappointed.
Front 9 fairways long and uncut and indistinguishable from first cut and rough. 16 out of 18 temporary greens. 2 greens in play dressed with sand but not dragged so very difficult to judge the pace of the ball on these greens. Pace of play extremely slow with a 4 ball group of members refusing to let anyone play through them from the first tee to the last despite them playing very slowly on the front 9 in addition to them loosing and looking for balls. Very frustrating, which resulted in me lodging a complaint at the pro shop when I eventually finished. I wouldn't recommend this course to anyone. The members that I played behind were very poor ambassadors for their club, for the sport in general, and were generally very unwelcoming. My advice to anyone thinking of playing this course would be to save your money and your sanity and book any course other than Gloucester.
Good course
Recommend trying this course. Surprisingly good and in decent condition. Great value for money and welcoming
Good course
Greens have been kept well so far this winter, fairways were recently cut, but looking forward to the 13th and 14th being finished.
Lovely golf course
Played here today as a four ball. Course was busy with a seniors “fiddle” in front of us and a seniors match behind. But we had a lovely round and were neither held up or chased from behind. This is a gem of a course. The greens were in excellent condition and there are some fabulous holes. Fairly flat front nine and moderately hilly back nine. All in all a very nice golf course, welcoming staff and friendly members. We will definitely be coming back.
Mr Chaplin shows the way
Had a fantastic round (well Mr Chaplin did) ground very hard due to weather conditions and ball runs from high to low so fast.
Greens in very good condition even with the dry weather .
Always look forward to come back .
Needs rain so much .
But dont forget a buggie for the back nine its a leg and heart tester .
But been a few times now and just keep coming back its a good test but has room for mistakes.
Great greens,
Love playing this course, challenging but fair for ladies in particular. Greens in great condition considering hot dry weather.
Love It
What a gem of a course.
Too many superlatives to describe how much we enjoyed playing here.
Teed off at 07.05 so it was fairly quiet and no one right up behind us. I can see though that the course can get very busy by the amount of golfers going out after we had finished.
Fantastic views embrace lots of slopes, twists and turns.
This is a course that demands respect but also rewards the brave.
Favorite hole was definitely the 18th.
A par four downhill 388 yard drive.
My son and I both ended up just short of the green!
Cant wait to go back there ....
Good Day
Course was good, greens were very good after all of the recent rain, drained well. Fairways could of done with a good cut but the weather probably hasn't helped.
Lovely views
With the recent weather conditions over the past few weeks the course was in pretty good shape, the greens had been hollow tide and sanded, but still were all in use. Hope to go back in the summer and play again, good test and would recommend a visit.
Gloucester
Good course
Pro shop had no record of our tee time so had to slot in- had two beginners bombing round behind us in buggy who were both hitting at same time!
VERY FRIENDLY WITH HELPFUL STAFF
This was my first time at Gloucester and I hope not my last. The course was in excellent condition, challenging (esp. Cardiac Hill!) and the staff very helpful. Thank you.
Great views!
The first time at Gloucester Golf Club after finding a good deal online. Arriving at the course was greeted by electronic gates that opened to a lovely drive up to the clubhouse taking in views of the course that awaited. There was ample parking, with a club shop and bar, everyone we met was very friendly. Decided to hit a few balls on the driving range before starting the round, the driving range was reasonably priced and has two tiers with plenty of seating. The range was not the longest and the only bad point was that the range balls that were dispensed from the machine, a few (less than 10 out of the 50) balls were badly damaged or unusable as they had deep cuts in them. The course itself I really enjoyed and will be back to play again and again. The front 9/10 holes are superb and flat before taking on the steep uphill drive on the 12th hole named 'Cardiac Hill' this is where the course climbs up hill and you are greeted with great views while playing the back to back par 5s. The 15th is a nice elevated tee shot which is always fun with a wide fairway in font of you. The 16th allows you to give your driver a rest as it is a nice and fun par 3 with an elevated green with what can be described as a moat around it. Arriving at the 18th tee you can see the clubhouse below and is again an elevated downhill tee shot down to the green next to the clubhouse. Overall I really enjoyed the course and found little to fault, the tee boxes were well looked after along with the fairways and the greens, friendly staff and members, great views and all for a great price.
Testing course
The course was in great shape! Greens immaculate and bunkers fair and tidy. Matson is a 'real' course. If you score well then you've earned it.
