Course closed
Would have been nice to have been informed that club house, pro shop and course if closed. Did not play. Disaster
Nice course
Nice course, just lacks signs for the next tee. It’s quite confusing layout if it’s your first time.
Did not like layout of several holes, seemed a bit dangerous for any wayward golfers.
Did not like that on a few holes players from other holes either crossed your fairway or easily hit into the fairway you were playing. Also a couple of blind holes.
Great course but keep your wits about you
Actually loved the layout but if you are new to this course the layout could be considered dangerous on some holes due to blind approach shots, crossovers and tee boxes close to greens
That said we enjoyed it, staff and members very hospitable and one to play again in the summer months. Recommended
Another decent round at Ilford
Could really do with a leaf collecting machine as some fairways totally covered in leaves, plenty which are white too due to the weird climate this year.
Clubhouse closed as they are renovating and no option to get drinks or snacks today.
Pleasant round though as the course was empty.
Great challenge, hidden London gem.
Played this course twice and have really enjoyed both times.
It’s a short track, but requires thought and accuracy. Greens and bunkers were in terrific condition. Greens were true and the bunkers had actual sand in them, not the hard clay that many curses seem to think is acceptable.
Looks like they’re building a new club house/pro shop so there weren’t many facilities available and some of the fairways were cracked owing to the hot summer. Neither of these things detracted from our enjoyment of the course.
Would recommend based on quality of greens and value for money in the week.
Tough little course, nobody home.
Pros
- Fairly tidy little course
- Good for people who want to push their pacing and driving accuracy
- Fairly short walks between holes
- Cheap
- Beautiful tame foxes everywhere
- Extremely capable greenkeeper looking after the course keeping sand raked and greens/fairways tidy
Cons
- Clubhouse not open untile weekends and nobody to greet you (make sure you bring drinks and snacks!)
- Poor signage
- Many crossing fairways
- Brutally close fairways, felt like I was at risk of hitting others at several points (I'm not the best driver) so had to give people plenty of space but being so fast paced you can't wait around for long
- Couple of blind holes
- Only championship and red tees (was told it's no big deal but I'm not the best driver)
Overall a nice little course. Maybe not for people of my skill level dude to pressures of people getting behind you, constant crossing or parallel fairways. No access to shop or clubhouse during week which isn't explained on their website or Facebook (don't try and call them). Turned up and it looked closed. If you're a decent player this is a cheap and interesting course recommended for quieter days such as weekday evenings. Would like to return on the weekend and see what the club is like when it's a bit more alive but expect to be too pressured for a player like me.
Not the greatest
Not the greatest , lay out tight , holes cross each other . Tee boxes rough .
Not for the serious golfer
Too cramped
Greens are probably the best in the area. No information anywhere about scorecards. I was told to just go and play and then later I stopped to check my booking. This is not acceptable. You either have resources to check in players when they go on course rather than checking their booking whilst they are playing. The course layout is not compatible with Garmin golf watch information about the course. My friend nearly missed being hit by a golf ball. No warning from your golfers who were behind us. On round 13 there is no way golfers on the other side can tell whether someone is on the green. Again a near miss by a golf ball.
Nice course, quite short
Front 9 is a bit longer perhaps and although there are a couple of long holes with carry over water, most par 4s are a mid-iron and wedge for a solid player. Nice course to practise and focus on accuracy but not the most challenging.
