Great course and value for the money
For an affordable round in London , can’t find anything better !
Nice course
Great par 72 public course
Great track, greens harder than they look. Nice to play in shoulder season when the fairways are a little greener and the course is less busy. One of my go-to golf courses in the local area 👌
One of the best
This is probably the best value course I’ve ever played using GolfNow!
Amazing
Course in great shape
Slow pace
Very slow pace on Saturday 2nd Aug, but course in great shape
Twilight round
Course in great condition (recent rain has got rid of some dryness) and pace of play good - got 18 holes in with a 5.45pm tee time. Will be playing another twilight round very soon.
Avoid the old Clubhouse
Chingford is a gem of a course. You cannot find better value for money in the County. Overall conditions were excellent. Surprisingly receptive greens (considering conditions) ran true.
My only gripe was having come off the course exhausted and dehydrated, we chose to have a cold refreshing drink or 2 in the Clubhouse. I asked for 2 pints of tap water with ice to accompany our zero alcohol beers. The lady bartender (who’s been there for eternity) kindly provided (a luke warm glass with 2/3 melted cubes) but made an issue of the few extra ice cubes I helped myself to, stating that she’d been told not to give out too many?? Even mentioned that management would check the cameras?? Seriously, it was 30 degrees! Make more ice! Passive aggressive. No surprise the Clubhouse struggles with attracting members or even thirsty weary golfers after a round. What a shame. Last time I’ll spend a penny in that Clubhouse, which is sad because it’s a nice place spoiled by mismanagement who clearly have no idea about the concept of pleasing paying clients. Clubhouse staff are colder than their ice cubes. Get a nice bartender who actually wants to be there and not moan about the price of the drinks they serve and how much ‘cat food’ she could buy for those prices!! Wow.
Amenities/T Boxes
I have mentioned this before that the course needs a halfway house that provides refreshments, toilets and golf balls LOL!!!
Lastly the T-Boxes are in need of repair
Apart from that a great course
Amazing upkeep, appealing pace of play
Been a member here previously. The course condition is fantastic all year, staff are great. Unfortunately it’s unplayable for large parts of the day due to the pace of play. Same groups of members every day that simply do not allow groups through and cause a 5 hour round if you dare to play between the hours of 8am and 2pm. Get out early and it’s a great course for the money.
For £30 you can't go wrong, but don't expect much
The greens and fringe are superb,
The fairways are a mixed bag and the tee boxes are in poor condition
The actual design of the course is interesting enough, but with only 4 bunkers and 1 bit of water on the course if you keep it on the fairway you'll be fine even if that's just rolling it's down the centre like a large number of the golfers we got let through seemed to be doing.
The warm up facilities are a single net and a putting green that doesn't resemble any of the greens on the actual course
I would play it again but just for a very casual round when I have a lot of time as pace of play is slow
Amenities
I have said before a halfway house would be great especially in the weather, they would make a killing. Lastly the Tee boxes need attention
Tee Boxes
A few Tee Boxes need urgent attention as not level and need or repair. I have mentioned before that a Halfway house would be nice to sell Tea, Coffee and more golf balls!!!!
Great value for money
I played the course before but recently played a couple of twilight session and course in great conditions, really enjoyed, it reasonably challenging and overall very good value for money.
Great day for Golf
This is not the first time I have left a review for Chingford. This is a great course, with friendly staff and greens challenging. But what I have said before, the course needs a Half way house for refreshments and the odd golf ball to replace the ones you have lost!!!!!
