Nice course to play
I had not played the course in a very long time. I was pleasantly surprised with the condition, of course, considering the time of year. I look forward to playing again in warmer weather.
Scathing
Used to be my home course and played here for about 5 years with no problems. Turns out the staff here have no integrity and will lie about you once they decide they dont like you. Lets be honest, this course has been remodeled twice in the last 15 years, costing millions of dollars, and they continue to run it poorly. The greens will be half kept and they continue to blame it on winter grass timing, well its your fault the greens suck no matter what the excuse is and you are costing Temple millions of dollars. All of the water hazards are over run with an exceptional amount of trash waste. There is trash everywhere along the water banks, it is disgusting. Could be a beautiful course with beautiful water but it is definitely not. Last time I played 90 percent of the greens were 90 percent dirt. They remodeled since then and purchased new greens at the cost of the local tax payer but I know from friends that have played recently that they continue to decline in quality. Time for new management and greens keepers at the once beautiful Sammons park golf course.
Lobo Review
Greens were great. Very nice fairways. Wonderful golf course.
Very strange layout.
The routing of the golf holes is very strange, with many times not knowing where to find the next tee. Lots of water. That was ok. Very noisy with I 35 and train tracks nearby. The course does have some very challenging holes and because it was fall, the grass was brown and there were many leaves
Ok course.
The course is in pretty fair shape but the “smart carts” are horrible. Constantly beeping and shutting down. VERY frustrating.
Course was a little dead but I think it is on the time of year it was. Best greens I have golfed on this year, they were very fast.
paid $10.50 with a hot deal and $10 off reward. Good course with lots of water to go over with the new layout. Will play this course 2-3 times a month if possible with work schedule.
Major improvements
Teeboxs still need help. Greens good, fairways great. I cannot believe they are edging the cart paths
Surprised
I’ve heard some negative reviews on Sammons but it was a hot deal so I went for it. Great choice! Super challenging layout with water on 75% of the holes. Not a long hitters course though so I had to go through the bag a lot more than the typical driver/ 3 wood off the tee. Very firm greens were hard to hold a shot at times but rolled nicely. Had a blast and will definitely be back.
Good course to play at a hot deal price.
The layout is confusing.
Improvements
Improvements: A year ago the greens were unplayable, The fairways for marginal and the tea boxes were horrible. Reconstruction of the grains make them wonderful and the fairways are much improved. Tee boxes still need some help
Great Course
I pass 3 courses to include the one here on Post that I live by on Fort Hood because this course is very challenging, very well maintained, and the entire staff is second to none! The MVP on staff is Steve, you simply won't find a nicer guy who is willing to help you out and get a staff member to assist. The cafe prices are so fair let alone taste great! I wish I could play more there and I highly recommend people to play here!
