Hole 18's View from Green Photo submitted by PulsarX on 02/10/2018
Lobo Review
Greens were great. Very nice fairways. Wonderful golf course.
Very strange layout.
The routing of the golf holes is very strange, with many times not knowing where to find the next tee. Lots of water. That was ok. Very noisy with I 35 and train tracks nearby. The course does have some very challenging holes and because it was fall, the grass was brown and there were many leaves
Ok course.
The course is in pretty fair shape but the “smart carts” are horrible. Constantly beeping and shutting down. VERY frustrating.
Course was a little dead but I think it is on the time of year it was. Best greens I have golfed on this year, they were very fast.
paid $10.50 with a hot deal and $10 off reward. Good course with lots of water to go over with the new layout. Will play this course 2-3 times a month if possible with work schedule.
Major improvements
Teeboxs still need help. Greens good, fairways great. I cannot believe they are edging the cart paths
Surprised
I’ve heard some negative reviews on Sammons but it was a hot deal so I went for it. Great choice! Super challenging layout with water on 75% of the holes. Not a long hitters course though so I had to go through the bag a lot more than the typical driver/ 3 wood off the tee. Very firm greens were hard to hold a shot at times but rolled nicely. Had a blast and will definitely be back.
Good course to play at a hot deal price.
The layout is confusing.
Improvements
Improvements: A year ago the greens were unplayable, The fairways for marginal and the tea boxes were horrible. Reconstruction of the grains make them wonderful and the fairways are much improved. Tee boxes still need some help
Great Course
I pass 3 courses to include the one here on Post that I live by on Fort Hood because this course is very challenging, very well maintained, and the entire staff is second to none! The MVP on staff is Steve, you simply won't find a nicer guy who is willing to help you out and get a staff member to assist. The cafe prices are so fair let alone taste great! I wish I could play more there and I highly recommend people to play here!
Fast, Smooth Greens
The greens were redressed this past summer/fall. They are so smooth...and quick. We love this course now! There are several holes with fairly challenging layouts - that makes the course fun to play. The course sits low and thus holds water. We have had a lot of rain lately, so there are several places where casual water sits. A few bunkers with water.
Overall, I really like this course.
Quirky little track
The tee boxes are rough, there’s no sugarcoating that. A few of them were so hard you’d need a mallet for driving tent stakes to get a peg in the ground. There are A LOT of water hazards on this course, with some seriously challenging forced carriers made considerably more difficult when the wind blows (which it seems to do here quite often). They allow people to fish on the course which seemed a little odd the first time I played here but was no trouble either time I’ve played.
Twilight rates start at 2pm. I played 18 with a cart for less than $20 on a Saturday- that’s a tough deal to beat.
Decent condition, rude staff.
Title says it all. The attendant in the proshop was not friendly and basically rude. I just asked for range balls and he laughed and said, "It's raining. I think the range is closed." This isn't the first time staff has been rude to me here. I'm considering not coming back. The course was fine for it being the end of winter.
